I don't mean to be insensitive and I acknowledge that sometimes grieve can make people say what they don't mean. But didn't this people know that the beach didnt have all these safety features, personnel, and procedures before going there? Na today that beach don dey there? The more we learn to be responsible for our actions and our own safety the better for us. 1 Like |

ishowdotgmail: what kind of dumb talk is this?forget the issue.. How will beach owners and others learn and make improvements to avoid this happening again if they just let sleeping dogs lie? if your siblings or relatives die wouldnt you want a situation where safety or awareness is improved to avoid a reoccurrence? smh 2 Likes |

ishowdotgmail: I can't believe you made this comment. It is a paid beach, you pay an entrance fee of 1000 naira. Things life lifeguard, emergency response are your rights! Wake up nigerians! No, these sleeping dogs won't lie 6 Likes 1 Share |

Those managers should be arrested and my reason being that the amount of money collected by those people at the beach to gain access into the place is quite too exorbitant. So from all the money they get as entrance or gate fee, with over 10,000 people visiting especially weekends and festivity periods,it should cost them nothing to get all those safety gears, ambulance and medical teams to be on standby at the beach. I hope this incident would make them put those necessary things in place. RIP to the girls. 1 Like |

DisGuy: My guy how many beach for naija get life guard? We have to be street wise. Person wey don die don die. If u dey go beach be very careful. Even beaches wey dem get life guard people still dey die. That's what I am saying. Na now police dey arrest people. If them been dey do check and balance since, dem for never find out say these beaches no dey safe. |

What the police did is a case of putting the cart before the horse. How can u go to arrest the managers without having proper evidence that incriminates them. This trend of Nigeria police arresting without proper evidence is now becoming a rankle to me. Y'all can blame the beach all u want for not providing adequate safety measures but I would say blame the so called students who went into the beach asininely. Pls release d managers coz its conspicuous they have no hand in the drowning coz as it was said the students were submerged by strong tides which the managers have no control over as its a natural phenomenon. Y'all may counter this by saying had it been there had been a wave alarm system the tragedy myt not have happened buy u guys should know that the only warning Nigerians take seriously is "LOW BATTERY" |

VictorRomanov: I agree with you people die even with life guards being present...I wont swim in any beach in the world. but it is the responsibility of private beach owners and their management to provide as much safety personel and equipment as possible. if this can be proven in court then they don't have a problem |

Seems to me like nigerians enjoy taking crazy risks.. P.S (not the kind of risk bill gates takes.) But clearly stupid risks. Now you know there are no safety measures on the beach yet you went for a swim. #sad. I sympathize with their families 1 Like |

Izen: Let me correct ur notion about Nigerians waking up. These so called students r learned individuals for Christ sake with functioning brains if it has not being interred anyway. My point here is why go to have fun at a beach when they know they can't adequately cater for themselves in the ocean? Y put themselves in such trepidation? For Christ there are lots of places u can have fun apart from a beach. Now that's what I call waking up and not making asinine decisions. |

Nigeria is a country with heap of negligence. We are a reactive people, we never seem to learn from the past, we expect god to do our laundries for us. One of my favourite quote is the boys scout motto "Be prepared".. |

ishowdotgmail: Until more people die, abi? Those waves can pull you, even if you're not at the shoreline. All the money those touts at elegushi collect, they can easily afford an ambulance stationed close by and can pay a doctor and nurse there. The musician that died on the beach too, now these women. How many more dead bodies will pile up before we decide to "stop letting sleeping dogs lie"? It is only in Nigeria we will wail and forget to do the right thing until the next tragedy occurs then we wail again. The management don't even use the money to clean up the beach. You can step on broken glass there. They can put up a warning sign "Caution High waves from 5pm daily" and change it as requires for the season (rainy season i believe has higher waves and more tidal strength). Nigerian meterological centre will give them that info for a few that is much less than what they collect from patrons in a month. How much is the signboard for that?? Abeg. 1 Like 1 Share |

momentumzee:For every recreational business that has high risk to human lives there should be safety gadgets, personnels (such as life guards) should be on stand by and extreme precaution should be taking at all times. It's unfortunate that in Nigeria they are only interested in taking your money from you and letting you in..there is no safety barriers etc at beaches. It's rainy season now and the tides and water level is higher....you don't even need too close to the water before it reaches at you and sweep the sand you stand on off you feet. We need to be very careful and stay at safe distances or avoid d beach in general. RIP to the pretty ladies involved. 1 Like |

dejavuh0007:This is a very insensitive comment and it's shows how inhuman you are. I can't imagine this came out of a living being.....don't people visit the beaches all over the world?....It's a natural recreation place created by nature or God as the case may be...and we all have choices in life to enjoy ourselves anywhere we choose to....that you don't go there doesn't mean those that go there are foolish. It's not your fault sha....Your level of exposure reflects your thinking. It's unfortunate the ladies are dead and definitely those in charge of the beach should be held accountable because that is their business.....It's not just for them to stand at the gate and collect money. Anything that goes wrong there is liable to the owners of the beach. |
