i have roaming sim cards but I don't have time for it cos they charge more. We just need to be smart and know what's happening.

We use double bricks for outdoor here, tho they cant be compared to naija cos they are cheap. It will take the thief days to break in.

The lights are coming from a 4 pattern Laser Light Projector. Just for fun during vacation. We spend some time assembling those lights when we get home. More like turning the house into Father Christmas Grotto

300# per block is a no going area. My pman close friend has a block industry and our mixture is special so 100% durability is assured. If you lift the 6inch, you dont need to be told they are strong.

I did my own Mould 6 inches solid, that what Im using for my build from foundation to roofing.To lift o ne you need to eat truck man's tablet if not no work the next day

Water Tower can be fabricated from wrought iron or bricks and mortar. On balance bricks and mortar is more expensive but more stable in terms of health and safety. But wrought iron if properly done can also meet the health and safety concerns.

Take a look at the pix below: Pix A was done by Spyder880 and displayed here on nairaland for 280K. The material used is popularly called H-Beam. I think N280K is a very decent cost and I think maybe Spyder880 didn't include labour cost. Please note that for a perfect water pressure for a storey building is 40ft minimum. In Warri Delta State, the H-Beam for 40ft can set you back over 500k easily. Also in Pix A notice the cross bar [x] in the construction. This is for greater stability for distribution of load. Some iron benders do cut coners and undercut the cross bar. So if you decide on this please note this and the minimum height of 40ft. Don't be convinced to do the popular 30ft.

Pix B is galvernized pole cheaper than H-Beam and if properly done will give you the same output in safety and longitivity as the H-Beam. Notice in pix B that no cross bar........not recommended. In Warri, this will set you back about 300k or more i.e 40ft not 30ft.

If you decide to cast the column, you can use the "redundant" space for generator room, dog kernel, storage or even security man's room. All you need do is wall deck and floor the ground space and voila! you have a useful room.

I see no reason why I cant cast a tank space on my building Instead of spending hundreds of thousands to do that.

Hajjs build has spurred me on, so I ordered 1,000 blocks. Builder wants N50k but he doesn't know it yet that I'll give him N60k

We just have to fear God as we deal with our people in Nigeria especially those of us abroad. The extra N10k is only $28 which equals a round trip reimbursed mileage for a day's work for me here. And those guys will be out there in that death ray sun for 3 or 4 days.

My brother I know what you mean... but still some Clients want to cheat those poor artisans.. and imagine contractors who already collected all labour money from the Clients but still refused to pay the artisan who sweat hard to do the actual job. My conscience will not allow me.

That is my pet hate ,after that hard work,The next site to me if you check my build you will see an almost 10ft high wal, the contractor convinced the guy to fenced his land that high, now the man does not even have money left to start foundation After being paid in full he is yet to pay the bricklayers in full as we speak,some are working for me.They are xtreemly happy to work for me as they get paid instantly they finish counting their work.

There is a kinda material (I don't know if we use them in Nigeria) that will be layed after casting the floor, it will be layed round the entire place with fire that wont show any block or plastering. Another light screeding will be done with cement after laying that material and your pipe will be taking the water down.

Algae are attracted by water, they are living things plant animal,the behave to water like ants behave to sugar.So in the not too long future you will see greens up there and when the sun heats them they die and turn black and peal yuk

Trust me on this, you don't want your tank as part of your house.

You can even install a drain pan with a pipe leading outside and I guarantee that you'll have issue in the long term.

the problem I have is the English name for materials used here.

I know that method is old fashioned but i can still count houses I saw recently that have the method.

Areas where lands are expensive use this style frequently and are well done.

And you can do it successful if you have a plan to go up there and perform maintenance periodically.

It just can't be an install and forget deal.
