Arsenal Playing Hardball With NFF Over Release Of Alex Iwobi For Olympic Games

https://www.allnigeriasoccer.com/football_pics/47679Iwobi1.jpg
The Nigeria Football Federation are holding high-level talks with the Arsenal brass over the release of Alex Iwobi for the 2016 Olympic Games.

Prior to making his debut for the Super Eagles, the Hale End Academy product first trained with the Nigeria U23s and was poised to play for the team in an All-Africa Games qualifier but was later dropped due to uncertainty surrounding his eligibility.

In April, manager Arsene Wenger declared that Arsenal will not stand in the way if Alex Iwobi wants to play at the Games.

“We respect that, and also the possibility that he will go to the Olympic Games, that he will also go to the Africa Cup of Nations and travel a bit more than he would have done here,” Wenger said.

With the new Premier League season set to kickoff on August 13, the Gunners have made a U-turn over Iwobi’s participation in Brazil, as he will miss pre-season training and might be frozen out by the club when he returns to N7 7AJ.

Iwobi’s uncle, retired Nigeria international Emma Okocha, tolda llnigeriasoccer.com: “Nobody knows yet if Alex Iwobi will play at the Olympic Games.

“They are still negotiating with Arsenal but nothing has been concluded. He wants to play at the Games.”

The 20-year-old Alex Iwobi has won six caps for the senior national team, having made his international debut in a friendly fixture against Democratic Republic of Congo last October.

Watford-Linked Striker, Isaac Success Future Hanging In The Balance Following Sale Of Granada

https://www.allnigeriasoccer.com/football_pics/56897Success1.jpg
Isaac Success’s future with Granada is literally hanging in the balance following the recent sale of the Andalusian club to Chinese investors, Desports, by the Pozzi family.

Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that the new owners of theNazaríesare planning an overhaul of the playing staff, coaches, sporting director and the president if the deal goes through.

Unfortunately, some of the details are not for public consumption.

Success’s current agreement with Granada is complicated, bearing in mind that he was originally acquired by Udinese, then shipped out on loan to the Spanish team before extending his contract in the summer of 2015.

Dominic Egbukwu, speaking on behalf of Success’s bonafide intermediary Oliver Noah, has insisted that his client’s proposed move to Watford this summer is still very much alive despite the change in ownership.

Egbukwu explained : “Udinese is the owner of Success, he is on loan at Granada . The Italian club will have to decide where the player will go next season, no one else.

“We are still talking about his transfer to Watford and not to any other club. He is either going to Watford or remaining at Granada.

“If Ighalo moves, more money will come to Watford and they can pay Success the wages he is demanding.”

Oliver Noah was later contacted to clear the air on the future of his client and he said : “Success has renewed his contract with Granada but there is a possibility that he will leave in the summer. ”

Udinese directly acquired Nigeria youth internationals Uche Agbo and Isaac Success in 2014 before they were sent to Granada to continue their development.

In some cases, the Spanish club do transfer business without the involvement of Udinese.

Re: All The News About The Olympic Eagles (U-23) HERE! by TheSuperNerd(m):
Exactly... funny isn't it? Honduras beat Denmark 4-3.

Denmark Whup our asses 6-2... and We crushed Honduras 3-1.

Football is dynamic and results are dependent on lots of factors.... one of them being quality of the players selected to execute a game.

It's amazing that the addition of Popoola to the Usman-Azubuike Midfield axis yielded good fruit.

Siasia should not even look at this result or be wowed by Saturday's wonder centre pitch/half field goal.

I Still spot only 5 for the camping exercises in Manchester and Atlanta and only 3-4 for the final squad to Rio.

The five are:
- Azubuike Okechukwu (scored Our Equaliser today sef against Honduras).

- Emma Daniel

- Usman Mohammed

- Sadiq Popoola

- Yusuf Mohammed (2nd goalie).

The rest are fired!!!!! No Rio for them, in my books, and going by overall analysis from my angle.

Note: If I will add a sixth player, it will be Amuzie, only as backup to Madu. Other than that, he too is fired!!!

TheGoodJoe:
The same Honduras that beat Denmark. We beat them three one. It just shows it is just selection policy of Coach Siasia holding this team back.

I hope Coach Siasia holds a proper camp and select his best squad for the Olympics. So they can play friendlies to gel.

In the end, a disappointing outing.

In other news, Saviour Godwin has been released by oostende. So he is in the market for a new club..

That was why I kept saying the Coach Samson Siasia wants to use this Olympics team to revive the careers of some of his boys.

He may have negotiated with someone for that.

Just imagine what the chairman of MFM FC said concerning some of these gius that have disgraced us if you doubt my accussations.

Some players of this U23 team were already sure of a spot at the Olympics even when the final camping had not been done.

How on earth should we be struggling to beat an unknown quantity at age grade level if Siasia knew what was at stake?

What do you have against ANS? They are one of the few objective websites I've seen. They have the best transfer market news as far as Nigerian players are concerned. Their stories may sometimes not be spot on but they are close to the truth. I read ANS before any other website.

https://africanfootball.com/bp_images/2016/06/Samm_31_Mar_2.jpg

Monday Jun 06, 2016. 11:09
Nigeria interim assistant coach Imama Amapakabo has said he was most impressed with the showing of Musa Mohammed at the problematic right back position for the Eagles.

READ: Lazio star Onazi claims transfer interests

"In all my time with the national teams, I have never seen a player as good as Mohammed in the right back position,” Imama said in a radio interview.

"He has great stamina, covers a lot of ground, defends exceptionally and overlaps with intelligence.

"I however think the best part of his game is his tactical awareness; Technically, he's one the best."

The Enugu Rangers coach also said he hopes too much pressure is not placed on Manchester City starlet Kelechi Iheanacho after he scored in both friendlies against Mali and Luxembourg.

"I honestly pray that we do not put too much pressure on him because he has the talent to be one of the best in the world,” said the coach.

"He is still young though and has a lot to learn.”

Samson Siasia's lads swept aside La Bicolor Olimpica to secure third place in the Suwon tournament, with hopes of emerging as champions already dashed

Nigeria finished their deflated Suwon International Youth Tournament campaign with a confident 3-1 victory over Honduras on Monday at the Bucheon Sports Complex to restore some pride despite their failed expedition.

Samson Siasia’s boys into their final game of the knowing they could no longer emerge as champions following defeats to South Korea and Denmark.

However, goals from Azubuike Okechukwu, Godwin Saviour and Keigo Saturday ensured the Dream Team VI at least signed off from the competition with victory, and avoided finishing bottom of the group.

The reigning African U23 champions were far from their glib best on this occasion, but still did enough to earn a comfortable win.

After a borrowing start, Honduras turned up the tempo and Alberth Elis broke the deadlock 17 minutes into the game – a strike which gave the Nigerians a timely reminder of how they were cracked against Denmark.

Nigeria showed more attacking vibrancy during a lukewarm opening, yet it was Honduras who almost got their second courtesy Anthony Lozano.

However, in the second half La Bicolor Olimpica’s resistance was broken ask captain Okechukwu leveled scores in the 61st minute.

That gave Siasia’s lads a sigh of relief as they controlled possession with just under 30 minutes remaining.

Things got worse for Jorge Luis Pinto’s boys in the 69th minute as they conceded a penalty after Ndifreke Effiong was brought down inside their goal area. Saviour took up the responsibility in the 18-yeard box and first past goalkeeper Harold Fonseca.

And Saturday sealed the win for his side with three minutes left to play with a wonder strike from the center of the field that beat Fonseca.

Nigeria U23 will return on later this week as they hope to ring some changes to the squad ahead the 2016 Olympics men’s football event.

I've been a lover of football for years and I can spot a good website when I see one. Quote me ANS is one if the best. Which website doesn't err really? They have very good insider news that other websites are struggling to grasp hold on and they conduct independent investigations. This website I remember was the one who blew the horn about a plot against foreign based players (to bench them) at the last u20 world cup which we lost out shamelessly even before tournament started. My brother, I stand to be corrected but ANS is doing a great job.

TheSuperNerd:
Don't mind the dude...Lol

He's just flowing with the anointing that Popoola brought into the team's play alongside Usman and Azubuike.

Siasia had his best midfield trio in Popoola-Usman-Azubuike yet he kept Popoola on the bench for the last two games....

Nice information.

Yet Coach Siasia went without a backup who could offer the midfield control Popoola brings. Coach Siasia should have gone with Nwobodo or Ifeanyi Matthew or both.

We need a thorough screening of every position. Any thing less means we are not going to the Olympics with our best.

This is exactly what I have been saying! These kids( iheanacho, Iwobi, Success and others) need to attend their clubs preseason in full health, they need to break into their teams next season, they can't come here until their preseason is done because then they might get injured before the preseason and that will damage their career. If you ask me, I would rather give up an olympic gold medal than let any bad decision no matter how good it may be on the short run damage their careers. If they maintain thesame path, we might be challenging for the World cup come 2018 so please, let them attend their preseason peacefully

Nigeria U23 skipper Azubuike Okechukwu

Sunday Jun 05, 2016. 08:11
Nigeria U23 skipper Azubuike Okechukwu is set to quit his Turkish PTT 1 club Yeni Malatyaspor with the midfielder attracting interests from several clubs within and outside Turkey, AfricanFootball.com understands.

Okechukwu, 19, joined Malatyaspor last August from Bayelsa United and has gone on to be an important member of the squad, and almost helped them to the promotion play-offs this past season.

But AfricanFootball.com has been reliably informed that he may have played his last game for the Turkish club as he is set to sign for a new club “before or after the Olympic Games”.

“Azubuike is attracting serious interests and some of these clubs have already begun negotiations with his present club, along with his agent,” a top source informed.

“He is more than likely to sign for one of these clubs before or after the Olympic Games, depending on how the discussions progress.”

The former Niger Tornadoes midfielder, who made his Eagles debut against Egypt in March, is presently in South Korea with the Nigeria U23 team as they prepare for the football event of the Olympic Games in Brazil.

Siasia to drop Awoniyi, three others

A top official of the Nigeria U-23 side has said that four key players are in danger of losing their places in the team ahead of the Olympic Games in August, following coach Samson Siasia’s disappointment at their performances. Nigeria lost two matches and nicked a final win at the Suwon four-nation invitational that ended on Monday as part of preparations for Rio 2016 which kicks off in less than two months. The culprits of Siasia’s wrath are central defender Erhun Obanor, fullback Stanley Amuzie, striker Taiwo Awoniyi and goalkeeper Emmanuel Daniel. The four players may have played their last game for the Olympic team unless they can find their form in the next series of test games. Siasia was saddened by the 6-2 defeat to Denmark in the second game that he has vowed to weed out unproductive players in the team. He confessed that he was very disappointed with the performance of the players. “Siasia is not happy that a player like Taiwo Awoniyi has failed to live up to expectations by not converting the numerous chances that came his way despite his potentials,” an official toldGoal . “He is considering dropping him for a more prolific striker unless he bounces back to scoring goals. That is if he considers him for the other friendly games any way. “The chief coach is also unhappy with the form of goalkeeper Emmanuel Daniel, the team’s first choice in goal and he has told him to sit up or be shipped out. “He is also not happy that Obanor has not seized the opportunity left by injured Segun Oduduwa to lay claim to the central defence position while Stanley Amuzie who he had so much hope in has been given a final warning. “Siasia told Amuzie that if he refuses to sit up other players from Europe will take his position. “It was a heart to heart and very blunt meeting Siasia had with members of the team after the team’s 3-1 victory over Honduras in their last match at the Suwon Tournament. “He told the players bluntly that the Olympic Football Tournament is not a child’s play and any player who is not ready should go back to where they came from,” the official concluded. Siasia has less than two months to put together a team capable of reaching the final in Rio de Janeiro to match the feat of his last team at the Beijing 2008 games.

Norwich, Crystal Palace Target Troost-Ekong Not Joining Panionios

https://www.allnigeriasoccer.com/football_pics/47058Ekong.jpg
Speculations linking William Troost-Ekong with a possible move to Greek Super League club Panionios in the summer transfer market are wide of the mark.

It was earlier suggested that Panionios were exploring ways to sign the FK Haugesund skipper from Gent and were willing to offer him a two-year contract.

“Those reports are not true, there has been no contact with Panionios. He is not joining the club, ” a source close to William Troost-Ekong told
allnigeriasoccer.com.

The likes of Norwich City, Swansea City,Crystal Palace, Queens Park Rangers and Brighton are mulling over a move for Troost-Ekong this summer.

The 22-year-old left England three years ago after representing the youth teams of Fulham and Tottenham Hostpur.

Norwich City have announced via their official webpage that Nigerian defender Afolabi Coker will have to look for a new club ahead of the 2016-2017 campaign.

The 20-year-old’s contract with the Canaries will run out on June 30, 2016 and they have decided not to offer him fresh terms.

Somebody please explain what is going on.

I'm still reeling from the news of Keshi and now this? For my mind, Keshi never die. I still dey reason am like....but he was just here last year, words can't even begin to describe how surreal it all is....and now it's Amodu.

There has never been a more diligent servant in Nigerian football than Amodu, he was the fix-it guy, he took the role seriously, even when he was discarded after fixing us, he never held a grudge. He wasn't petty, wasn't ungrateful. He was a true embodiment of a servant, always willing to serve the people even when he was continually trampled upon.

He qualified us for two world cups but never got to lead the team to the mundials, he consistently got us third place positions at AFCON. As useless as that position seemed then, what we would give today, to have Amodu pull the strings he used to pull and get us into the AFCON tournament even when it seemed all hope was lost.

Amodu had that magic, he had that special spell needed to get results when we most needed them and he worked without pay. He was our go-to guy when we had no other options. He may have been the last option many times, but he always made it count.

I have no doubt in my mind that if we had given the reigns to Amodu when Oliseh dumped thw team, we would have qualified for AFCON.

....and to think these two great men once worked together as Coach and Assistant.

Farewell to the Big Boss Stephen Keshi and the Bigger Boss Shuaibu Amodu.

Go on to meet our lost football greats like Yekini, Okwaraji and Teslim Balogun.

You gave your all to your country even in the face of insults and unappreciation. May your spirits continue to remain with the team you sacrificed continually for.

#RIP
