My Goodness, education standards have fallen really badly in Nigeria. One Nigeria is hampering the progress of the Yorubas, we are too forward thinking for this contraption called Naija, and all its wahala......
See how far we already were since the pre-independence days, and the days of proper regional governments.

Common guys why do many Nigerians like to blame our failure as a nation on One Nigeria I can almost say with guarantee that with your so called divided Nigeria we still be in the same situation (failure) as a nation if not worst.

Why do we blacks likes to blame every thing around us but ourselves and the truth for our own failures we use to blame the white man so we got independent then started blaming the military after that then we started blaming the so called civilian government now the new trend is to blame one Nigeria so if we divide now and still have our problems who will you blame next? A good example is South Sudan.

The average Nigerian(Black man) always wants the fruits(dividends) of democracy yet he's not yet ready to be a democratic citizen are we ready to pay our taxes?, are we ready to vote for a candidate based on the content of his/her character or based on the candidate's ethnicity or religion? are we ready to hold our leaders accountable even if they are from the same region or religion with us?

We as a people messed up bid time if I will have to blame anybody I'll start with myself(I'm a Yoruba Guy) and yourself and every Nigeria ( including civilian and the government)

Typical westside hypocrite! Yorubas who fought a war to retain ONE NIGERIA and who said that it's better to starve 2 million innocent babies to death than for Nigeria to divide. Yorubas who even on nairaland will start having epilepsy at the mention of Biafra. My friend, just shut up!

If we look at the how things were then and now.. then we can vividly say the same people who enjoyed the best of Education were responsible for destroying the future of Education. We have been unfortunate to have Rulers and not Leaders.

Being an undergraduate in a university is a great feat but it cannot be compared to being an undergraduate in the 1960; then it was considered epochal.

Ask people who went to universities during the period when you’ll be lucky to find 20 students in a class and they will tell you education during those days was worth it. They’ll tell you there were no distractions and it was about work and play and work again.

The University College which later became the University of Ibadan is the first university in the country and being a student in the university was attaining an impressive height.

A lot has changed in the Nigerian academic system especially in the tertiary institution. Gone are the days when school cafeterias provided balanced diet meal to students and the only thing they needed to worry about was getting the food from the plate to the mouth. The days where students could afford to seat anywhere in class because they was enough space to go round; when student hostels were cleaner than 5 star hotels and each student got his own space and there was no need to squat.

Students nowadays will tell you there was no better time to go to school than now. To them, the old universities were too strict as students had to sometimes wear robes like they were at Hogwarts. They say undergraduates in those days were treated like secondary school students with strict everyday rules to guide them.

There were more serious students than now.
All serious minded
because they don't have much problem like now... How would you compare a student who had actually begged for gaari from his roommate ,before leaving the hostel full of cockroaches that had disturbed hell out of his life a night before, to school.
The thought of what to eat after lecture is still there or about parent at home. instead of the vice
Or the intimidation in school from the students born with silver spoon .
lastly, availability of job after the whole 21yrs of schooling from kindergarten to Nysc year...
. Abegii... Truly our leaders have failed us.
