The photographer-1
“Hurry we’re late,” she yelled at her bestie. The wedding preparations had just begun and the date was very close, gosh! What was she thinking. Nadina Patrick Essien was a typical sanguine; loud and friendly, extremely emotional and this endeared many people towards her. Since childhood, Nadina was treated specially from other kids due to her charisma, this attracted envy even from her own friends. She was extremely pretty and intelligent, with a bubbling social life, one could hardly imagine how a Law student combined clubbing and school. “You see what I warned you about? We should have started earlier.” Udeme complained as she struggled with the tight fitting pencil jeans trouser. Her friend Nadina was almost the opposite of her; while Nadina was carefree, Udeme was very careful and planned everything she wanted doing. She shook her head as she stared at the mirror; she was going to be the maid of honor. Nadina had fallen deeply in love with her friend Duncan Ette. She remembered introducing them on one birthday party, which was her mistake. She didn’t expect their friendship to bloom the way it did. Nadina always took everything; her friends, her attention and the way people flocked around her, calling her Nadie lovingly. She finally took Duncan’s heart. Duncan was every girls dream, he was rich and hardworking, even while in the University He had his own business, although it was on the small scale, it got bigger after being merged with his father’s company. This made his progress explosive. He was average in height, dark with features so lovely; his eyes were shaped like almonds, giving him a seductive look, in addition to his well chiseled nose and attractive lips and a muscled frame. Duncan was for the kills! But he used to be her best friend. Unlike before, he no longer spent time with her, neither did he take her on dates nor call her daily as he used to. She had fallen in love with him and he used to call her “baby” before he started dating Nadina. Maybe she should have opened up to him about her feelings. “And what is going on through your mind?” Nadina asked an absent minded Udeme. Her friend had been acting strange since this wedding thing; she had become withdrawn and sad. Well she had to be, as she would miss her bestie once the wedding was over, Nadia thought. Duncan was the love of her life, she was extremely lucky to have him, thanks to UD who introduced them! Duncan had changed her life; from holiday trips to Dubai to expensive gifts, even paying her fees. He worshipped her, she was his Angel; that was what he called her. The trip to the boutique was slow and quiet, each lady to her thought. They had three place to visit; first the boutique, the caterers shop and the photographer’s. Visiting the boutique was quite thrilling. Bee’s House was the biggest wedding boutique in the country. “Let’s do this,” Nadina yelled excitedly as she stepped out of the car, “You no go calm down? No fall o.” UD exclaimed, and shook her head. “Yeye girl,” she added jokingly. They spent over one hour in the boutique as Nadina kept having problems making up her mind. “I want this one, no, wait! That’s better!" She kept on. UD had actually gotten tired of waiting for the Queen of England to choose a dress for the royal ball. She strolled to a nearby fast food joint, picked the menu, well well, She was in the mood for something chill due to the sunny weather. She beckoned on the waitress, “I need ice cream,” she requested. “What flavor do you want? We have strawberry, blueberry, ginger horse, vanilla...” “Oh just bring whatever,” she interrupted the waitress with a wave. She was tired and needed to save her strength for the rest of the shopping. That sadness returned, she was filled with envy but she pushed it aside. She had heard of besties betraying themselv es, she could never bring herself to hurt Nadina, no. If Duncan was ever hers, then it would have happened. For now, she was going to enjoy her ice cream with all serenity. Her phone rang and pushed her out of her thoughts. “Give me twenty minutes, yes...OK.” As she looked up, there was a male stranger before her, looking at her with a smile. My my! Her mind exclaimed. If Duncan was considered handsome then this man in front of her was the god of handsomeness himself. “Hello UD, are you there?” Nadina was still on the other end of the phone. “Hello Princess,” the Adonis greeted. “Can I help you?” She asked curiously. Yes you can, he thought; I could kiss your pretty lips. He was drawn by her beauty, that angelic aura that surrounded her, he knew a beauty when he saw one, after all he was an artist. “It appears your ice cream is running out. Can I get you another?” He replied cordially. “Hmmm, I don’t talk to strangers,” she replied and made her way to leave but she was too late. He cornered her and they stood looking deeply into each other’s eyes. They must have roused attention in the restaurant. Too late! Jeez was he gonna kiss me? Udeme thought. Duncan and Nadina walked in looking shocked as th ey saw the fearful look in her eyes. “Excuse me? Is he disturbing you?” Duncan asked looking the stranger up and down. Who was he, hovering over Udeme? Duncan thought. He studied him some more, the man was way too fly, he felt threatened. “I’m sorry, nothing’s wrong. He’s just a new friend I met. See?” She hugged the stranger lovingly, “Oh, you mean it? Alright.” Duncan backed out. “I’m in love with your friend,” the stranger smiled as he shook Duncan’s hand, Udeme blushed shyly. The stranger winked at her. All this while, Nadina felt lost, she just stood there staring at the most sexy man ever! She felt weird. He somehow looked familiar. She felt jealous this once for her friend UD. She, Nadina always got the attention, after all she was light skinned and prettier with a sexier figure. She smiled as the stranger took her hand in his and kissed it. “You’re such an angel,” the stranger remarked and found UD staring jealously. He winked again. Duncan actually felt jealous of this man, complimenting his friends like that. "Have my card, my love. Please make sure you call me,” he stretched out his card to Udeme, kissed her fore head and left. For the first time in her life, a man wanted her for her, and not as a means to get her friend.

"Lemme see that," Nadina grabbed the card from her friend. "Girls, your seat belts," Duncan ignited the engine, wandering why his wife to be was so interested in the stranger. "Darling don't you think it’s wrong to take that from Udy?" Well, by all means it was wrong, thought Udy. Her friend was really getting on her nerves like, what was it really? Back in school Nadina had always gotten hit by the sexiest guys, she felt jealous yea but it wasn't this obvious, "Ok, love, have it back." Nadina was a little bit thrilled by what she saw on the card, the stranger was obviously rich, I mean who would keep an office in such an expensive part of town? Well, Udy was quite lucky. The drive back home was quiet, it was a long day and the girls had only achieved one thing; buying the wedding gown and other accessories. Duncan was a bit too quiet; he noticed how Udy stared at the stranger's complimentary card. He was a bit bothered, maybe jealous. Well she always gave him full attention even as friends, but today she barely noticed him, "So are you gonna call him?" He asked, she didn't reply. She kept on staring at the card. "Hello Udy?" He brought the car to a sudden stop and she screamed, they all burst out laughing, "What was that for?" Udy looked surprised, she had been so much engrossed in her thoughts, also imagining when she was gonna get married. It’s been long she even dated any man, and now this man came from nowhere and he looked like he was the one. "Well, definitely amma call him. He's hot." She laughed, Okay, now what? She saw the worried look on his face, and added "I will be careful," at least he cared for her which was her only consolation with Duncan, he cared not loved, his heart belonged to Nadina, and it still hurt her but that was life anyway. She stepped down from the car and waved goodbye to the lovebirds, phew she sighed, it was gonna be a hell of a night for her. First of all she would take a cold shower, eat some fruits and sleep. So his name was Bode Thomas, Yoruba guy, she mused. Well, they were usually hot, this one too. That name rang a bell. There was only one popular Nigerian with that name. Oh my god! Could it be him? The famous photographer with numerous awards for his works? Well she would find out later. But tonight, "I’m gonna love you, tonight." she sang as she undressed. Her phone began to vibrate loudly, "choi this kind china phone, disgrace o." She saw the caller. She was in no mood to argue so she ignored the caller—her mother, a pain in her ass literally. The woman never ceased to amaze her, always comparing her with Nadina, now she was getting married it got worse, how could her own mother be like that? "You are no good, why can't you be like Nadie," her mother would always tell her. How could her daughter not be smart, have a rich guy, get married? Well she was done with that for now. The shower was one of the places she enjoyed most; trickles of water poured on her already damp skin while she stood there silently, allowing the water to wash away her heartache. Tonight she was gonna let everything go, everything! Maybe she was not good enough. From time being, people always preferred Nadina to her; she was an angel! So pretty and intelligent, she was the opposite. She let the water take it away; thank god she was getting married at least that would sever their friendship. She heard her phone ring again. Damn! She swore, who calls at midnight? She quickly dried herself and checked her doors and windows, they were all locked. Back to the phone then, she saw the text, "Naughty girl, remember we are going to the photographer tomorrow. Bye!" She shook her head slowly, crazy world, goodnight! "Wake up darling, rise and shine!" Nadina screamed at the sleeping Udeme. "You forgot I have the spare key," Nadina said looking at her startled face. "I’m not going out today, I don't feel too well," she tried to tap out. "Yes you are and we are leaving. Hurry!" She knew all of her friend's tricks. She left for the kitchen to help herself with some fruits, damn! The fridge was well stocked, uhmm! "Apples, or carrots?" Apples it is, she picked red apples. She heard her friend sing in the shower, a love song indeed. That reminded her about the stranger, she was curious since she had laid eyes on that man, she was never the same. That was a bad thing! Her wedding was in a months time. Well, a little flirting wouldn't hurt, but what if her friend found out? Well, she saw how important this man was to Udy, but who cared? He may have gotten close to Udy just to get closer to her. Yea, she knew guys, many guys if not all got closer to her through Udy. Poor girl, she was no match for her. Nadie beauty queen, she praised. No man had ever resisted her and she was sure this Bode guy wouldn't either. So she had to find that card get the number and call the dude! "Uhmm what’re you looking for?" Udy asked puzzled. "I kept my ATM card somewhere near this drawer, can't find it." Her friend said while searching. She wasn't surprised, Nadie was a very careless person. "Search well o, madam cash, Give me twenty minutes to dress up, and twenty for makeup." "What the hell?" Nadie screamed as she threw a pillow at Udy. Now she was gone, she had to find that card. "Where are you, cardie cardie," she remembered the bag! Yea, she searched it over but it wasn't there. She looked around carefully and saw something placed over a novel, "hello baby!" She held out her phone and copied the number, why would she keep this card again? She didn't want Udy to see this guy and probably get to be in a relationship with him, well "Bode is mine for now," she said as she tore the card into pieces.

The photographer-3 The Club was almost filled to its capacity. Seduction was a club mainly for the high class; the least amount one could pay as gate fee was usually about 100,000 naira. It was a hideout for many celebrities and politicians. Bode was giving his order to the bartender for himself and his guys. In no time, the bottles of Ciroc and a bottle of Moet was placed before him. The boys had not hung out for a long time so tonight was their night out and they came with girls except Bode. Before leaving with the drinks, he spotted an actress by his right guarded by a bodyguard and he quickly made eye contact. She had taken pictures with him once. She smiled in recognition and walked closer. "The Artmaster himself! Ba wo ni?" She settled for Yoruba as they exchanged pleasantries. She quickly fixed an appointment with him for her next shoot. It took him a couple of minutes before he remembered what was tugging his mind; the girl he met at the restaurant. He had forgotten her name, thanks to the busy life! She hadn't still called him. That was weird, girls liked him and he expected her to call immediately. Well, maybe she wasn't cut out for a man like him. There was just something different about the girl; that peace around her, pure serenity and she was beautiful in a certain way. He was a photographer who had seen half of the world, he had seen beautiful women in their different shades but this one was a rare kind of beauty, it wasn't forced nor faked, and unlike him he actually fantasized her being his wife! Crazy! He thought. He liked women and women loved him. He was a renowned player back then in school. He didn't just like the idea of one woman. As for this one, there was something different in her, he had to find her. He was ready for the chase. "Artmaster!" his friends cheered as he appeared with the drinks. He took a seat at the table with his guys, it had been a while they gathered. "Tony, howfa your wife?" Bode asked and the other two burst out laughing. "You dey fyn trouble abi. At least me I don marry. Wetin una dey wait for?" Tony teased back. Bode shook his head. Tony had been in such a rush to get married to a virgin but he discovered that his wife lied and was far from one. "I love my babies bad and real no fakin," Odion, the other guy added. The rest agreed, though they knew Tolu, his girlfriend was a bona fide hypocrite. "So Artmaster what's with you, any new chick?" Tony asked. "No, that question is wrong," Odion pointed out. "You should have asked, is she black, Asian, Hispanic, busty, short...?" Damn! That was some diss. Bode smiled at his mischievous friends. They were all the same; a bunch of players. "Well, e get one babe I meet o, buh she no wan gree. I for wan marry am." His friends laughed so hard he almost felt embarrassed, though he expected it. Bode was the worst player any girl could have the misfortune of marrying. Back in the days, Bode had obtained the courage to woo a female lecturer and lay her. He understood why they laughed. "Guys calm down, I serious." His friends were far from calming. "Bode is in love," Odion mocked in a female voice. Some minutes into their conversation, Bode ’s phone rang. "I gotta take this, guys," he excused himself. "Hello ....darling" a seductive feminine voice spoke from the other end. "Hello, I ’m speaking with?" Bode replied, trying to place the caller. "Don't you remember me? Uhmmm Nadine, the girl you met at the eatery?" Geez! It was her, he thought. "Oh baby I have been waiting for this call, baby where are you?" "Don't get me wrong, I ’m not Udeme, I ’ m her friend. She asked me to deliver her message. She has a fianc é and they are getting married in two weeks so don't bother looking for her." He swallowed hard, "but she didn't tell me anything about that." Nadine took her time to explain that the guy, Duncan who was also present was in fact Udy's man. Bode expressed his disappointment and got off the line. Maybe God was punishing him for all the hearts he broke, how could fate be so cruel? He had just tripped for an engaged woman and it was gonna be difficult for him to force her out of his mind. He remembered her large eyeballs, big and light brown, and her smooth and brown skin that shone through the flimsy shirt she wore that day. He was so stupid, he almost kissed her and her man was standing there and she didn't say anything. It all came back to him slowly; he remembered how possessive the man had acted. He had no clue and he made himself vulnerable by expressing his feelings, something he had never told a woman sincerely except to warm her bed, but that day, "I love you" was from his heart. Maybe it was love at first sight or infatuation but for once in his life, he felt hurt and vulnerable. She was getting married in two weeks! Well, he needed something to distract him. Her friend Nadie was very sexy as hell, as he could recall and he could run things with her but tonight, he was getting wasted and with a pretty celebrity.

THE PHOTOGRAPHER 4 --by Rose
Udeme had searched the whole place for a week now without finding the complimentary card and what was worse was that her feelings for him grew stronger by the day. As she browsed online about him, she admired him more. He was a very hard working man in his early thirties. Bode had received many awards for his works, especially the British Eye Award which was one of the most prestigious ones, and he was very good looking. She had to find him, with or without that stupid card, she just couldn't help but call her friends to help her check their places too, maybe she dropped it in Duncan's car or Nadina's bag, she had to put some calls across. "Babes have you seen that card Bode gave to me?" Udeme inquired of Nadina. "Which card? And who is Bode?" Nadie answered innocently, Udy explained patiently that he was the guy who kissed her at the restaurant. "Nope I haven't come across it." Damn! She threw her phone on the ground, thank god! It was China! She picked it up and dialed Duncan's number. He received the call quite upset. What business did he have with the card, he checked his car and nothing was there. "Na wa o, Ud slow down. Why not forget this dude?" He remarked and she cut the call. Yes, she was possessed, she was running mad and Bode was her only drug, her only solution, for once in her life, a guy of that caliber had approached her. He was jovial, no trace of pride usually found in most wealthy men. Even at the restaurant, he had no body guards and all that, he didn't even explain that he was the famous Artmaster. That alone won her heart; she had to find Bode, somehow, somewhere. Nadina had called Bode for the third time that day, it was obvious she wanted him, but he, on his part had to tread carefully because he had already tried wooing her almost-married friend. He invited Nadina to his house so they could go on a date, a beach date actually. She had suggested a place where people would not be much, considering his celebrity status and all that. He thought it wise too. She was a very beautiful girl, had all assets to drive a man mental, so why waste time? He enjoyed making love to beautiful women and Nadina was one of such. Nadina had prepared herself for this date; she had cancelled the meeting she was to have with her caterer and she switched off her phone before taking off. Today, she felt more beautiful. She wore her best make up, a crop top and shorts, with a straw hat for the sun, she looked magnificent as she gazed at her mirror. Bode Thomas, the man of her dreams, she liked him and had no fear and no conscience as to how her friend felt. Well, her plan had hatched. It took her thirty minutes to drive to his house, and damn! It was exquisite, a castle, the type she saw on TV. She parked, stepped out and was met by some guards, they searched her and led her in. The parlor had a gallery; the walls were filled with lots of paintings and pictures, pictures of different photographers, celebrities, and models. It was beautifully decorated. She walked closer to a life size picture of Khloe Kardashian, it looked so real. "Do you like that?" A deep voice interrupted her picture watching moment. "Yes it’s very beautiful," she answered thrilled as she stared into his eyes. "Yes she is, but you are prettier," he flirted. "I met Chloe in Pretoria, South Africa when she came on a visit. She asked for the best shot around and I was contacted." "Wow," Nadia answered dreamily and moved towards a very beautiful painting. It was that of a young girl; green eyes and full lips, she had to take this picture. "Can I take this?" She asked with pleading eyes. He agreed and offered to give her more. This man was something else. They left for the beach, conversing the whole time about their lives and families. They played and kissed each other before settling under an umbrella. "So are you in a relationship?" Nadina asked. He looked away towards the water waves, wishing it was Udeme that sat beside him. "No," he replied absently. He felt nothing special for Nadina, he didn't care if she was in a relationship, all he wanted was to touch her body, her voluptuous breasts and kiss those lips again. "Come," he told her, and she followed him to a private tent. They were alone now, he kissed her and she returned it passionately, he undressed her quickly as well as himself. "Are you sure?" He asked and she nodded in consent, he kissed her slowly and rode her like the stallion he was. They dressed quickly and ran back laughing like little children, this was freedom! Nadina thought. He was so romantic. As she ran outside playfully, she fell and he quickly grabbed her and kissed her again. He was so gentle and she began to wonder if Duncan was a mistake.

The photographer-5 They returned to Bode's estate some minutes later. "Whew! That was so good," she remarked. "Oh yeah? Did you like it?" She looked into his handsome face and wished she was his alone. "Are you in a relationship?" He looked startled wondering what had promoted the question. Well he gave her the answer. "No" She felt satisfied. She couldn't imagine sharing her new found love. Oops Udy, you missed this one. Now she had to make a decision, she was lost between two worlds. Not that Duncan wasn't a great guy, it was just that he was boring, although she knew he loved her to death. It was Bode that had stolen her heart. He took her to his garden, and ordered for lunch to be made, he was going to treat her to an Asian recipe and she was all smiles. How did he know she liked Asian? Especially that extra addition of spice, she was thrilled, he was actually meant for her. "Intuition," he said. "By mere looking at your full lips, I knew you are for spicy food." She shook her head and smiled, he was funny! She had almost forgotten about her appointment with the caterers, she had to eat hurriedly and he noticed that. "What's with the rush?" "Uhmmm, I, uhmm, I just have to go right now." That’ s really strange he thought. "Ok, you could come back and spend the night?" She just stared blankly at the flowers, coming back would be fun but she had to put things in place, "No darling, I won't make it, see you another time," she pecked his forehead, and left for her car. He waved reluctantly, and watched her drive off. He had been with a good number of women to know when they told a lie. Something was up. Maybe they were both players. Well, he wasn't the least perturbed, he was just in it for the passion, that was all. One of the reasons he avoided amorous ties were things like this; insincerity. He smacked his head a little. Darn! He had forgotten to ask for her friend's number. Although she was getting married, at least he could just be friends with her. Udeme...he liked the name and the way it sounded and the way it suited the bearer. She sat for hours before her laptop searching for personal accounts of Bode Thomas but kept seeing public ones. How on earth could she relate her emotions on social platform? Well, she saw his official account: "Artmaster: Bode Thomas". She clicked, "follow". What a wasted day, she got up to make herself some biscuits. Udeme was a very good cook, baking was one of her many talents. "Hello babes, can you come over to my place, I have gotten the designs for the bridesmaids," Nadie had finally gotten serious with her wedding plans. "Whaow thank God, would be there in thirty minutes. Keep food for me o," she hung up and picked her bag heading to the house of her betrayer. Duncan met her at the door. He looked quite unhappy. "Hello Dee what's wrong? Why the face?" He looked up the stairs to be sure Nadie was far away. She had been disconnected from him few days lately, he didn't like it and he had to confide in his friend. "Udeme, Nadie has been acting strange. She does this when I hurt her. Now I don't know what I have done. Please just find out what the problem is, thank you." Udeme remained silent for a while, nodded and left. He was really a slave she thought, how could a guy be so weak? Your girl misbehaves and you can't even man up and approach her for a conversation, she was beginning to see Duncan's flaws, he had fallen so deeply for Nadine. Well, she wouldn’t interfere in their business. For crying out loud, they were getting married soon. Would she still be called to settle their differences? She pushed the thoughts out and went to Nadie's room. "These designs are superb," she praised Nadie. She was the stylish chic amongst their circle of friends. This was something else. Little wonder Bees House was one of the best Fashion houses around. "Let me get you something to chew, I’m coming!" Nadie announced vivaciously and left for the kitchen. Wow, this was nice, she couldn't wait for her friend's wedding. She looked around the room for other costumes, and was immediately drawn to a painting that hung near Nadie's Mirror. It was perfect. If the Mona Lisa was the best painting in the world, then this was second. She kept touching the painting, a beautiful girl with large green eyes. Wow, Nadina always had eyes for beautiful things but it didn't look bought. She hadn't seen any wrap papers around, it looked old but still beautiful. She needed to meet this artist for her own portrait. Nadie walked in with steaming plate of fish pepper soup. "Wow, lovely one! Where did you get the painting from?" Udeme asked curiously but Nadie hesitated, she had to find a quick lie! Damn it! "Uhmmm, the Fashion House gave me as a souvenir for buying lots of stuff from their shop," Wow, Udeme thought. That sounded weird. "Ok, I was thinking, I might go there and ask for this artist, I need a portrait too." Now, Nadie froze. If her friend found out she was lying, her woes would have just begun. "Ok no problem, we'll go when you are ready "With that her phone ring broke the awkward conversation. "Hello, baby..." She quickly entered the bathroom and switched on the tap as a decoy. His deep voice made her yearn for his love the more. This guy was an angel. She was Just so happy to hear his voice again and said yes to virtually everything he asked, "Let's see this evening, choose a venue convenient for you." She just smiled. "Let's meet at the park along Cherris highway." She liked its scenery, "Ok, what should I get you?" Wow this guy was prince charming, just the romantic guy she wanted. "Well, anything, anything at all," she blew him a kiss and dropped the call. Wow! She breathed, closed her eyes for a moment and smiled. She was in love with Bode, she was sure but the feeling was replaced with confusion. Her wedding was coming up, she had to make up her mind; Duncan or Bode? "And why would Duncan call you instead of walking to this room?" Udeme asked her friend who was visibly beginning to act different. "It wasn't Duncan, my younger brother just called." Udeme was quiet. Who calls her younger brother baby in Nigeria? Alright anyway, Nadie was the crazy type. "Ok Mrs Duncan," she teased. "Hey pointa correction, it ’s ‘soon to be ’," she laughed, and her heart flustered at the thought of getting married and leaving Bode to another woman. "Whatever o, I ’m going, I have a job interview on Monday, got to prepare well," she informed Nadie. Udeme was really lucky she had been invited for an interview that could earn her the office of a legal partner in the firm. It was a big firm with five branches in different parts of Africa, a branch in London and Two in the Caribbean. It was a distribution network for distribution of goods within the parts of the world. She got lucky to be invited for the job. At least this will distract her from Bode for a little while.

The photographer-6 HE PHOTOGRAPHER 6 --by Rose (Image source: gettyimages.com) Duncan was confused, his fianc ée had just left the house dropping a message with the housekeeper. She had already done the same thing last week. This meeting with the caterers was putting a delay on their pre-wedding photo shoot. He just shrugged and left for the court to arrange their marriage documents. He couldn't wait for the wedding. Nadina was the love of his life and he was sure she was the woman for him, only she could fill the void in his heart. He loved her to death. It was rare to find such a beautiful lady who could be so loyal to a man. Nadina was his angel, he looked at her picture one more time before hitting the road. She arrived the park earlier than the agreed time. She couldn't wait for Bode; she needed to hug him, hold him close and love him. She spread a red mat over the green grass and settled to watch the blue pond before her. She brought her camera out to take pictures of the flamingoes that flew around the pond. Click! Click! She had taken about twenty shots when a hand covered her face, and she smiled, "Bode my darling," he chuckled, and released her as he kissed her neck. They were lucky it was a private park or their torrid escapades would have caused a scandal. He plucked a water lily, inhaled it and put it on her hair. She just smiled. "Here, let me have that," he took the camera from her and struck a convenient pose, taking time to capture her beauty and the ambience of the park, "Wow, this looks good baby, I love this picture! Uhmm you are really talented." Of course he was. The pictures he took of her where clearly different from her own selfies. He joined her on the mat and ate the cookie she handed him. He quickly remembered her gift. He bought her a perfume; Axador, a classic fragrance. She was speechless, she loved perfumes! She just hugged him, and they stayed that way for minutes, he understood her unspoken message, she was grateful for the gift. "What do you have for me?" He eyed her mischievously. Dark angel he thought. "You ain't getting any," she retorted wickedly. He quickly remembered her friend Udeme, he couldn't get her out of his mind, she was always there, "so what’ s with your friend?" She pretended to be confused. "Who?" "The one getting married," the one who has my love, he thought. "Udeme of course," she smiled. "She ’ s great, quite busy with her wedding preparations, I hardly see her these days," she broke the conversation and made to silent him with a kiss. He knew this trick, she always avoided talking about her friend. He tilted his head away and she looked at him angrily, "what was that for?" He winked. "Let's talk some more." Ok, she had this. "So tell me about yourself, everything, how you became a photographer… " He smiled, "well I had passion for photography since childhood but my parents never encouraged it. I was forced to study accounting to replace my father in our industries. I agreed and after school, I worked at Pesocorp Limited, that is an extension of one of the industries, I worked there for about five years while saving up money to go into full time Photography. My father being a very rigid man forced me to sign an agreement to continue working for him while carrying out my "wasteful passions", as he referred to photography that way. I agreed and kept working two jobs. my breakthrough came when I won an award of the best landscape photographer in West Africa. My father wasn't satisfied, he didnt wanna let me go, so he created an extension of Pesocorp Limited for me to run, he called it Artmaster Luxuries. That ’s why I picked the name Artmaster." He finished the diet coke and reached for another. She was pleased; a hardworking man just like Duncan, she always got the rich ones. "Why the smile?" He asked, she looked mischievous right now. "Well darling, your story thrilled me," he swept her into his arms, and unleashed his passion on her, she surrendered and they became one. After the act, he kept thinking of Udeme, "Hey baby can I speak to your friend on phone?" Nadina looked hurt, how could he ask for Udeme's number after this? She felt so stupid all of a sudden, but he calmed her fears with his kiss, "Ok, I will give you the number," she copied out Udeme's Old and unused number for him, he was so pleased, "Baby you are the best!" Udeme had a low fashion sense, she had to browse on how to dress for an interview. With the little money she had, she had she ordered for clothes from Bee's Fashion house. Hell! She was hot, she quickly went through her books once again, she made extra effort in preparation, this was a golden opportunity and she wouldn't miss it. She barely knew much about the firm she was heading for interview so she did a little research. She quickly typed "Artmaster Luxuries" to know more about the firm, it was an online networking company, just like Konga and Jumia, but with a wider network, although their goods were more expensive. They distributed clothes, books, foodstuffs, fashion accessories, and surprisingly pictures. That was interesting, she clicked on the picture icon and thousands of pictures got displayed. These pictures had a lot in common with that of Bode Thomas. There was something very familiar. Well it was getting late, she got off the bed, said a prayer and slept. She dreamt of Bode, they stood together by the bank of an unknown river, he told her of his love, of how she was meant to be his wife, but he looked sad. "Please don't leave me," he cried. She was confused as she stepped closer, but when she was about to hug him, a woman dressed in white pulled him away and she screamed and woke up, it was already dawn.

The photographer-7 ’ m tired of you treating me this way, you are pushing me out and our wedding is coming up soon. What's the problem? Is it me? What have I done? I’ m sorry." Duncan was visibly hurt, she felt for him. This man loved her with his whole heart but she wanted another. How could she bring herself to tell him she no longer wanted the wedding? But was that the best decision? She had to make up her mind tonight, "Baby, why are you so worked up? It ’ s just the stress of planning a big wedding alone and you know Udy has an interview to prepare for so working all alone ain’ t that easy," she pleaded, stroking his chin lovingly. He looked unconvinced but waved it aside, she was the love of his life. "So when are we going for the pre nuptial photo shoot?" He inquired. She rolled her eyes. Well that decision would hover round her love for him or Bode, she shrugged. "Tomorrow, that would be just fine." She had just returned from the park. Her heart was at peace when she was with Bode, everything in her stood still, she was in love with him. She remembered the perfume he bought for her and smiled, dropped her bag and headed for the wine bar, she needed a drink. Duncan walked in minutes later and found her chair empty, "Nadie, your phone is ringing." She was far away, so he decided to pick the call for her. "Hello, who's on the line?" The phone went dead. "No one like you, oh yea, oh yea..." she sang sweetly, approaching from the wine bar but froze on seeing Duncan with her phone. She swallowed hard, geez! This could ruin everything, the wedding and Bode! "Ah, baby, someone called and didn't say anything, probably a wrong number." He gave her the phone smiling, she smiled back in order to distract him. She opened her bag. "Sweetheart guess what?" He was so angelic she thought but her heart was with Bode. "Apples," he teased. "Now don't be silly, you naughty boy," she scolded and brought out a parcel containing the perfume Bode had brought for her. Her heart cried out, what a lovely perfume she was giving out, but she had to for distraction purpose. "Baby, this is so expensive, but it’ s for ladies," he hugged her graciously. "Babe, I ’m sorry I didn't have time to check. I’ ve been saving up for it, you know I love you right?" Bode dropped the phone quietly. Who could the guy be? Nadina had told him she was single, the last thing he hated was banging someone's chick. He wouldn't call her again, he decided. She had to do that herself. He had tried Udeme's number for hours continuously, it was "Not Available". Could it be a wrong number? He wondered. His only chance of speaking to her was this and if he didn't, he doubted if he would ever be alright. He just had to find Udeme, his heart throbbed for her. Even though she was getting married, he just had to see her again. He had a very busy week ahead, he had to oversee to the recruitment of qualified staff for the Artmaster Luxuries, he had been informed by the Managing Director of the final interview. He quickly made calls to his Personal Assistant. After the interview, he would travel for a photo shoot in Malta, he had already wasted too much time here, if only he could see Udeme one more time.

The interview had almost come to an end when the firm’s secretary interrupted the panel of interviewers stating shockingly that One Barrister(miss) Edwards was not currently present for the interview , and she was one of the highly recommended applicants for the job, the panel exchanged confused glances, ‘well let us move forward with those available, just because she is highly recommended does not make her more favoured or special from these ones’ Adenike Olagbemiro hissed rudely, she was the head of Legal department of the firm and was the most hated employee; so rude and haughty she had no patience with people. People believed her arrogant and proud nature had left her unmarried for years. How else could one explain why a 36 year old lady was still single, a very beautiful one at that? The secretary shook her head in a bid to counter Adenike’s reckless rants. “That’s not the best approach to this, what if there are unforeseen circumstances that prevented her from being present?” Adenike took this wrongly. Being the head of department, she felt she had just been issued a challenge and immediately, she responded bitterly even in front of the applicants. “Look at this little piece of misery,” she rose to take a good look at the secretary, who did not flinch but held her chin proudly. She just remained calm looking directly at Adenike. “How dare you? Who gave you the right?” Bode had just arrived and was told the interview had already kicked off. He walked briskly as he waved at his employees, who smiled and greeted him politely. Oga boss, he muttered silently and smiled. As he approached the conference room, he heard raised voices, like a fight broke out. What could’ve gone wrong? He increased his steps and opened the glass door. Immediately he walked in, everyone rose to acknowledge his presence and the room fell into silence. Immediately he saw Adenike, he knew she had something to do with whatever went on there, the woman was trouble, he would have fired her since but undoubtedly, she was great at her job and had won so many cases for the firm, and he had slept with her times without number, she even fell for him. “What went on here?” he forced the thoughts of her body out his mind and frowned his face. No one answered. “I’m asking a question.” The Director of Shipping of goods cleared his throat and explained why the quarrel had ensued between Adenike and the secretary. Typical he thought, Adenike was a very impatient lady, even in bed. “So who is this Barrister Edwards?” and the documents containing information about her was brought to him, he just glanced through it. She was highly recommended, he just flipped through the pages not very interested, dropped the papers and the interview continued once again, he glanced at his watch, he had another meeting with the sales department, so, he wouldn’t spend much time there. **** She arrived the firm, thanked the cab driver and ran inside. Ouch! She exclaimed. She forgot his money. Quickly, she rushed back and handed him clean naira notes and asked him to keep the change, the man smiled showing off dirty brown teeth “Aunty God bless you, good luck o” and drove off. Immediately she entered, the security blocked her, she was already intimidated by the sky scraper, and the dozens of flashy cars that were parked around. She quickly explained her presence and was directed to the Conference room. OMG! She was shaking all over; anxiety, she thought and walked as fast her broken ankle could carry her, workers staring suspiciously at her as she was limping. The last applicant was on the hot seat now, when Bode took over the questioning, after this, he had to leave for his next meeting. “What will you offer this firm if you’re considered to work with us?” His questions were always very tactical. He gave the applicant some minutes to absorb what has been asked. Suddenly the door was opened and a young woman rushed in, everyone focused on her as she was limping. Oh god , what went wrong? He thought. As she got closer, he took in the face and his heart gave a big jolt as he jumped to his feet unconsciously. “Udeme what happened? What are you doing here?” Others looked confused as Adenike cursed so much for manners.
