hmmmm you take the ignorant word you dished out as an insult ? What hypocrisy. You talk with such high esteemed knowledge, this is you who knowledge, certificate, research, or anything intellectual is still an up and coming babe, yet you speak to me as though we equals. I am obliging you because I feel in the mood, come down from your self deception. Before we will proceed, in my community we use a google search to know who one is in this world. drop ur name and I will drop mine, a google search should erase all doubt that you are an up and coming babe and should be grateful that I responded to you. To brag about a subjject as mute and daft as government shows u are slow. put up ur real name , I want to shame you and humble you for good. Googlle will be our friend
BTW you gbudo answered the qsn o. You instead bragging about your linked in profile. If you are so renown you wouldn't need to make noise. If I here asari, obj, elumelu, bankole Adenuga or dangote Bill Gates or buffet Serena or Miley I don't need to google them.

and you feel knowing what true federalism means is intellgence ? A moot and valueless subject like O level government ? Is that what you are bragging about ? You say u are a researcher ? You do extensive research , I say let's prove it and ur running away. I will ask you two questions and offer you one million naira. If you get it in a week it shall be yours. Even in ur dreams you won't be able to,

Let me school you abit since you are still at that level, knowledge and intelligence are very differnt. Knowledge is data , intellegence is usefui information. Apparently all you have in ur head is data, a typical nigerian product of cram and pour. You asking me a question that google can answer, I will ask u a question that google can't answer.

Never in ur life again should who feel fly for knowing the definition of federalism and yet not having the inteligence of what are its implications , merits or demerits. Read the type of questions you asking. Like a child. what are the types of fedralism? Imagine that. We talking models u talking crap.

Mr man , you not intelligent, I need intelligent people who will create and apply existing knwoledge, not someone who regurgitates what he has crammed and can relate that with his environment for any analysis.

Post ur name here. I want to know ur standing in our community, cos we know oursleves, and I don't know you
you said you will ask 2 qsns. All I see is a small man foaming at the mouth. Even with Google you still couldn't answer the qsn. SMH

A new structure would have a lot of benefits to the people. Especially in areas of delivering the dividends of democracy to the masses. Nigeria is plagues by divisiveness which has hampered our development, strengthing the regions bridges that gap on tribal and religious bias, people will feel more xomfortable with their leaders, this structure will ensure a disjointed development approach. Where states focus on their areas of comparative advantages. Many states in nigeria lie dormant with resopect to their over all contribution. Developments at state and local levels will aim at creating emerging markets and job growth. the growth of any region will be dependent on the mental nous of the governor of that region as as well as the supposrting regional government arms.

The advantages of a decentralized system is so great especially in a divisive nigerian system

On Aburi we stand!

On January 4th 1967, the young charismatic Military Governor of the Eastern region, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu flew from Enugu to Aburi, Ghana to have a meeting with Gowon. In that meeting, it was agreed that the four regions in Nigeria would operate as a confederation. Gowon and Ojukwu signed this agreement in front of the president of Ghana, the late General Ankrah. In return, Ojukwu pledged to work for the unity of Nigeria and to recognise Gowon as head of state. When Gowon returned to Nigeria, the Northerners who were greedy for power reproached Gowon for giving away so much power to the regions and urged him to make Nigeria a unitary state. 4 Months later, on the 27th of May, Gowon in clear violation of the agreement he signed in Ghana, announced the abolishment of the regions, the creation of 12 new States, the removal of resouce control and fiscal responsibility and the introduction of full blown unitary rule. Ojukwu in response declared Biafra and war followed. Igbos want a confederation. The center is too powerful and this is not good. The states must be dissolved, the Igbos and the minorities who are confortable with Igbos must be given their region, the office of executive president must be abolished and in its place, a ceremonial president who will be commander in chief and a priminister who will be head of Government will be created. The senate must be dissolved too. Resource control of at least 67% must re-introduced just as it was before the war. With this, no one will be able to cheat the other and nobody can marginalise anyone. The regions must also be given the power to secede from Nigeria via a referendum if they so wish. I also want to add that when all of this is done, us Igbos are most likely going to secede from Nigeria within 5 years of the confederation.

If we poor Ebonyians support true federalism, why shoukf any state in Nigeria be against it?

True federalism will bring healthy competition among states because every state will want to be the best interms of development, both human and infrastructure.

There will be adequate security in each state because every state will carter for their security agencies such as police and civil defence.

It will discourage laziness and encourage hardwork, bringing out the ingenuity in a black man because every state will be forced to go inwards, think critically, be creative and innovative, which will result to success in all facet of human endeavor.. Just like the saying goes, necessity is the mother of invention.

Nice one Sir but does true federalism pose any threat to Nigeria's unity? What are the possible disadvantages?

True federalism does not pose any threat to Nigeria's unity. "Threat to Nigeria's unity by True Federalism" is just a propaganda by people who wants to maintain status quo. They are feeding large from the current system and does not want it to stop hence, they device a way of deceiving unenlightened Nigerians in order not to support it.

Having read all advantageous effects. I state the disadvantages:
1. States have right to form state police, Nig govt fears this will create room for state rebellion and subsequently use police for state govt personal purposes.
2. States have right to be autonomous, a room Nig govt sees as introduction to seccession.
3. States control their resources, Nig govt feels this would leave many states in the north impoverished.
4. State govt earns varied salaries, Nig govt feels some southern states will have more money and enslave others.
5. States finally have right to leave or stay as one entity in Nig. A light to achieving Biafra/ND republic, Oduduwa republic etc. Nig govt does not want that to happen..

These are disadvantages..
Its for us to check if they weigh up to, or outweight the advantages.
thank you for the enlightment

I asked for characteristics to ascertain we are even on the same page.
many people talking about true federalism just heard it somewhere without even finding out what it means.
just like we allowed oyinbo to scam us with democracy.

if you really want to debate.
point out the features of federalism and I will show you we already have it but you choose not to see it cos you are too lazy to do the work.
you're all looking for ready-made system.

I do not bother blaming my tools anymore. waste of time. I just learn to use it and get to work.
I can function even in a full blown dictatorship.
heck even if the country descends into Somaliaesque like chaos.
I can still make it work if I wanted to.
and. there in kids the rub, nobody wants to make Nigeria work, yet. everybody wants Nigeria to work for them

@ 3 and 4: Lagos' population and some states like Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Ogun, Ondo, probably Bayelsa and Delta (if their leaders don't kpai all the money as usual), will probably triple with influx of job seekers. Akin to going from averagely poor to rich, and still living in the same community with basically poor people you grew up with, the kind wahala your eye go see, no go be here. cheesy

True federalism is the better way to go still, but IMO, the timing has to be right . . . starting with helping the weaker states get a grip of themselves, before letting go.

the above listed can only be a disadvantage to a certain people who have marginalized others for long and afraid of the oppressed seperating from the entity which both find themselves...

why should a government be afraid of persons controlling their own resources if that government doesnt have a wicked heart....

the advantages of true federalism by far out weighs what ever disadvantages it might present...
