Marriage I understand. A child's birthday I don't. It is the child that is marking her/his birthday. It is not compulsory to celebrate and if and when you do, the child must be allowed to enjoy his day with his peers. Adults come to eat, gossip and that is it. There is little or nothing they can do to make the day of the celebrant special. The child camnnot understand the purpose of being there. However an adult who is getting married is capable to understand things like that. It is merely another excuse to prove what is not.

You have a point though. But then can't rhe y organise a small conference for the parents?: (. Also, in most if not all birthday parties I have seen. The parents that attend with have no business there because their kids are far older than the celebrant or too young. For example look at the pictures above

The pictures you see are the ones the media is interested in. The ones with known people in them. The kid's mother sure has pictures with her kids and kids her age, that is her own business.

You can't drop your 2 year old at a party and leave!!! Under whose care? Every parent has to be there to watch their kids. Anyway, when you have kids and start to attend these parties, make sure you remember to mention me in a post.
