Ha! Lemme do the right thing before devil allows these praises get into my head and pride begins to take over. I return all the praises and glory to God. It's not me at all. If you ask me how I came about this story, I can't say. It's just God. He gave me the talent to write, so I write for Him and whatever He inspires me to write. To God be the glory.

I want to thank you all for your prayers. I say amen to them. Audrey Timms will not go blind because of God and you all. Prayers indeed changes things. Even when I had to wait to get my broken lens fixed and had to wait for my pharmacist to get me another supply of my eye drops when they finished, I had no issue with my eyes even when I continued typing. Thank you all for your prayers. God hears the minutest of prayers.

I can't thank you enough for being there. I truly learnt a lot from you guys. Even if there were issues, I'm so glad we made it to this point without fighting or losing anyone. Thank you for all the beautiful and uplifting comments and birthday wishes and prayers. Sincerely, they made my eyes wet. How blessed I am to have you all.

Thanking you.

Excerpts from MOVING FORWARD

"This is the day that the lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it. This is the day that the lord, the lord has made," Nkechi sang joyously as she stared at her reflection in the mirror.

This was indeed the day that the lord had made. The day she was going to sight her boo for the very first time. Oh, she was giddy with joy. After long distance dating for almost a year now, chatting via BBM and Whatsapp and talking long distance on the phone, they had finally set a date to meet. Richard had arrived Lagos, Nigeria from London the previous day. He had taken another flight to Kano and booked himself into a hotel to rest. He was presently on his way to Dutse to see her.

Nkechi couldn't contain her joy. She was head over heels in love with him. She prayed they wouldn't be disappointed in their first sighting of each other and they would be compatible. She didn't care if Richard was short, fat and ugly. Not every girl was destined to marry handsome men like her sister. All that mattered was love and understanding and she prayed she and Richard would have the same love and understanding her elder sister was presently enjoying with her husband.

She cast a critical eye on her dress. It was a beautiful sequin dress but she wondered if she wasn't overdressed. Maybe she should dress down in a simple top and jean trousers. She didn't want to seem like an eager beaver to him. She had to maintain her cool even though she was bursting at her seams with joy and anticipation. Finally deciding a simple top and jean trousers was more presentable, she took off the sequin dress and rummaged through her clothes for a simple but classy top and pulled on hip hugging jean trousers. She sprayed her braids with hair ointment and bound it in a donut at the top of her head. Her makeup was light and perfect, her perfume alluring. Nkechi was ready to meet her boyfriend.

Nkechi walked into the living room and made sure everything was in place. She had scrubbed everywhere, not that the place had been dirty, because like her elder sister, she was a sucker for cleanliness. She walked into the kitchen and checked the fried rice she had prepared which she kept warm in a food flask. The salad she had made was chilling in the fridge, so also was a bottle of wine. Everything was ready. All she needed now was for her boo to arrive.

She went back to the living room and sat to wait for him. She had described her house to the letter so there was no fear of him missing the place. Besides, he would call if he was lost or something.

Ten minutes later, she heard a knock on the door. The expectant lady jumped to her feet and rushed to the door. Her clammy palms were rubbed against her jean before she let out a deep breath. She hissed inwardly when she saw it was a neighbour wanting to borrow a box of matches. She angrily went into the kitchen, took the match box and slammed it in the hands of the albino-looking neighbour. She told her to keep it.

Nkechi sat back and let out a deep breath. A knock sounded on the door again. Nkechi hoped it wasn't the borrower returning the match box. She let out a deep breath in case it was her boo before she opened the door.

Standing there was a tall, dark and handsome man who had a smile on his face, a bouquet of flowers in one hand and a gift bag on the other.

The smile wiped off her face immediately her memory banks started throwing images of her past. She gasped in horror as she saw herself with a tray of oranges on her head, a guy beckoning on her to come with her oranges. He asked her to enter the house which she did because she didn't have change for the one thousand naira note he held and he said he had change in his room and wanted to go and get it. Besides, it was drizzling. She found the guy interesting and they talked for a while before she decided to leave because it had stopped drizzling. Before she knew what was happening, he had held her and started caressing her. She shouted at him to leave her alone but he refused. In a matter of minutes, she was n.aked on his bed where he shamelessly took her virginity.

Standing before her was the bastard who had raped her.

Richard was the reason she had hated men for years.

How could she have fallen in love with the man she swore to put a knife through his heart whenever she saw him?

Nkechi turned away abruptly. Her destination- the kitchen to get one of the sharp array of knives.
In a matter of minutes, Richard would be bleeding at her feet.

She was prepared to go to jail after ridding the earth of another rapist.

**********

"Why are you just telling me this, Fi? It's two weeks to our wedding." Tosin rose from the chair and walked about the room.

Fi, who was still on her knees beside his vacated chair, used her hands to wipe away her tears.

"I didn't know how to tell you before now. My conscience was pricking me; that was why I had to tell you. Please forgive me for not telling you earlier."

Tosin went to his mini bar to pour himself a stiff drink. Damn! Damn! Damn! Why had Fi decided to keep such a sensitive information from him, only to tell him two weeks to their wedding? What was he going to do now?

"Fi, sweetie, do you realize I'm an only son?"

Fi sniffed. "Yes."

"Do you realize you have put me in a very tight position?"

"I know but please forgive me. Please forgive me. I'm so sorry."

Tosin slammed his glass hard against the polished wooden surface of the bar.

"Fi, my dad is counting on me to carry his lineage forward. You know that, don't you?"

Fi lifted eyes filled with fear to stare at her fiancée. "What...what are you saying, sweetheart?"

Tosin turned to face her.

"We have to halt our wedding plans for now. I have to think things through."

Fi shakily got to her feet and took slow steps to stand before him. "You're calling the wedding off?"

Tosin looked above her head. "No, I'm not. I just need to come to terms with the fact that I'm going into a childless marriage."

"And if you can't come to terms with it?"

Tosin lifted his shoulder in a careless shrug. "I don't know."

"What to do you mean you don't know?"

Tosin became silent.

Fi started weeping. "It was your baby I aborted. Your baby cost me my womb. Yes, I was foolish but you were responsible for the pregnancy. I nearly died because of that baby. And now that I deemed it fit to tell you your baby cost me my womb, you want to dump me?" She yelled into his face.

Tosin remained silent.

Fi waited and waited for him to say something but he just stared into his empty glass. She wiped her tears away and went to pick her handbag from the sofa. She walked up to her fiancée whose head was still down, slowly removed the beautiful diamond engagement ring he had given her and slammed it on the bar.

"Now you're free to continue your father's lineage."

Tosin called and called but Fi remained deaf to his calls in her bid to leave the house before she broke down uncontrollably in his house. She left the house and hurried to her car where she locked the door, placed her head on the steering and wept profusely. She had gambled and lost. Her brother and his wife had been wrong. Opening up to Tosin about her wombless state had backfired. Yes, she was all for truth in a relationship but whereby the truth caused a heartache that seemed as if it would never stop made her wonder if it was worth it.

Oh, Tosin! Why had he rejected her? And they wanted to be joined together for better, for worse? For worse was here but they had been unable to cross the hurdle. She tried putting herself in his shoes and wondered if she would react the same way had he told her he was sterile. Would the thought that she would never be able to bear his children make her leave him? No! She loved him. She loved him very much. Life without him would be pale. They could adopt, couldn't they?

She started weeping again.

Meanwhile, Tosin was drowning a bottle of whiskey. There was no need pouring it into his glass. He sunk to the ground beside the bar and rubbed his head vigorously. He castigated himself for his hasty words. Fi was a dream come true. He couldn't imagine life without her but could he imagine them without children? He loved kids and one of the reasons why his parents had been pressuring him into getting married was because of children. They wanted grandchildren even though they had some from his sisters. He couldn't imagine telling them he couldn't have kids with Fi. They would be heartbroken and even though they loved her, he knew they would tell him to marry someone else. But there was Fi to consider. He loved her and it was his child that had cost her her womb even though he hadn't been a party to its removal.

Tosin tried imagining if she had told him about it when she found out she was pregnant. He had been in his final year at the university then. Wouldn't he have suggested the same thing she had done? He doubted if he would have told her to keep it seeing the situation they were in at that time. Their parents would have been really disappointed in them and he wondered what they would have suggested. He was certain his father would have made him marry her after his graduation whether he loved her or not. He wished with all his heart that that had been the case. He wouldn’t be in such a precarious situation mow.

All he needed was time to think things through. The more he thought of it, the more he realized it wasn't really a helpless situation. With his sperm and Fi's eggs, they could get their child through surrogacy. All they needed was a woman willing to offer her womb, for a fee of course. The more he thought of it, the more his countenance lightened. Her parents and his need not know that his wife wasn't the one who carried their baby when he or she was born. In fact, he would make sure she pretended to have a baby bump, he would pretend to fly her abroad for the birth of their baby, then return back with her when the surrogate gave birth. It all made sense.

Yes, he would marry the girl of his dreams and have surrogate kids with her. Perfect! He rose from the position he had been in for the past three hours and looked at the ring on the bar with a smile. He walked slowly to his coffee table to get his phone when it started ringing.

"Tosin, is Fi there with you?" Gio, Fi's brother spoke into the phone immediately Tosin answered it.

"No. She was here about three hours or so ago."

"I know, you damn bastard! She called my wife weeping hysterically. My wife told her to come over and we haven't heard from her since then. All her lines are unreachable."

"What?"

"If something happened to her, I promise you, there'll be hell to pay."

Tosin put his phone down with a shaky hand. He shook himself and dialed Fi's lines. He kept trying it for the next ten minutes without a result.

"Oh, God!" He hoped his rejection had not pushed her into doing something stupid.

By evening, there was still no word or sign from his fiancée.

Fi was missing!

The man that brings ant-infested gays into his hut should not grumble when lizards begin to pay him a visit.

Mama Audrey Timms...

I feel 'guilty' reading this masterpiece free of charge.

When are you going to publish these wonderful stories into books?

Well, I don't know what to say again...you are simply amazing.

You shouldnt even be compared with anyone, you are simply in your 'own league'.

On 'Moving forward'

I feel for Nkechi. Discovering the man he has been drooling over for the past 12 months is the same man that forcefully tear her hymen some years ago is painful.

As for Fi and Tosin, both are right.

No man will be happy should his fiancee reveal such a delicate info two weeks to the wedding...but it takes a great courage too on her part to reveal such a delicate info two weeks before their wedding.

I just hope Fi hasn't harmed herself, I pray she is alright.

They should all find a common ground and work things out.

I am looking forward to seeing Rhema finding her man too (I hope the man is not going to be Ikenna or Timiebi).

I have lived both in Ondo and Jigawa state; this made the story more real to me. smiley cool

I will patiently wait till the new masterpiece begins. Even if it is next year, I'll still be here. cool

Thanks Audrey Timms for this story. You don't know what you have done to me with this story.

Looking forward to meeting you one day

God bless you.

It's your number one fan on NL...Iamabraham.
