The population has doubled in size since 1991.

If you wish to see 'meaningful improvement' in the lives of the people then it the economy would need to grow at a much faster rate than the that of the population.

Either you slow down the population rate so that more can be spent on those of us who are currently here or you ramp up economic development. Ideally, a responsible government would do both.
Yorubas are growing. If yoruba leaders/politicians had sense they would have strictly controlled and reduced migration into the SW especially Lagos.

Nigeria is actually growing but many fail to see it because they forget the good things and fucus on the bad ones

Just look back and u will appreciate were we are today

God bless Nigeria
You might want to revise that opinion. The country is hanging on by a thread. You are looking at physical structures which doesn't matter. What you should be concerned about is the decimating mentality of Nigerians. It is far worse than physical structures dilapidating.

It's not just Yorubas that are expanding in number.

I wish that Lagos was stricter about informal settlements. That would keep the numbers in Lagos down and make it easier to keep Lagos clean and orderly.

As things are you can't restrict movement within Nigeria but you can use current laws to deal with those who move to Ajegunle, Makoko et al.

Also, many of the people who live in these slums are from Togo and Benin Republic.

So you have realized that the stupidity of your fellow clan shouting for the creation
of Biafra destroyed your past heritage and left you with shambles?

The glory of the later days will be greater than that of the former. Onitsha is even better today and can only grow better as it fuses with Asaba.

I agree with you 99.9% but my friend, na government dey impregnate all the women out there? Nigerians should please leave government alone and take responsibility for their actions and their lives. Please note that Nigeria has a fixed geographical size and can not continue to increase population because they can proportionally increase economic growth (which has been a mirage so far anyway)

Government isn't getting people pregnant and I often wonder about the sanity of the people who continue to procreate whilst crying about hardship.

But governments can create incentives for couples who have smaller families and undergo anti-fertility treatment (such as vasectomies).

Also, something has to be done about the religious groups who encourage reckless breeding habits and tell people not to use contraceptives/birth control. Such people should be recognise as enemies of progress.
