Have You Experienced This With Facebook Ads? by 2sexycom(m): 5:37am On Jun 18, 2016
Hello,

We launched our new site to sell physical products on Monday but the result has been dismally discouraging.

What makes it even sadder and worrying is that we are doing what others are doing, in same niche, same ads platform, same model but different brand BUT BUT little to no conversion, wherein others claim to be getting far better results and lesser spending.

My mind has been wandering about and thinking so many things like: maybe those with better results are not telling the truth, they may be doing something differently that they are not telling us. How come they get as much as 10-15 orders per day and we not?

According to my friend, we had as much as 2000 visit to our site on first day with poor conversion BUT a guy with lesser visit got higher orders than us. So what could be wrong?

Please if you are good with facebook ads, kindly help us out.

what your website URL?
Re: Have You Experienced This With Facebook Ads? by Lordtrillion(m): 6:45am On Jun 18, 2016
It depends on so many factors.
As you said, you just launched your site newly. Most customers are been careful on websites they buy from online & make payments on. Knowing the Nigerian factor of high scamming rate online, its only few people who would take such risk by paying for goods or services on a new & not too popular website.
Also, your price might be higher than that of your competitors.
My little advice for you are
1) Try registering as a merchant & listing the products on any of the Popular Ecommerce website like Konga, Jumia, Dealdey, Kaymu. Your Facebook advert should redirect to any of them for checkout. This is because they are more popular & your prospective customer might have used them before
2) If SSL certificate is not installed on your website, try buying one & installing it. That green address bar & certificate image (e.g. this website is 256 bit SSL secured) which your customers see each time they visit your website creates a little trust in them.
3) If your ad is less than a 5 days old, you can still give it sometime. Most times, Facebook conversion doesn't come immediately. If you're getting enough likes & shares on the ad or sign ups on your website, still give it sometime.

Lol bros, It's not a full blown ecommerce site actually but same model. We are selling just one product and we offer pay on delivery. Therefore, the issue of trust and scamming shouldn't arise.

just want to take a look at the website before I offer my advice. A number of factors can be responsible for Facebook ads not converting to sales. e.g your choosing location, targeted audience, ur website not convincing enough, time you are displaying ur ads and many more.

Except you're not targeting the right audience, then you should have made at least one sale.
Hope your checkout process is easy to understand?
Also, your ad is still new. Just less than a week. Your competitors ad would have been around for a while so therefore, they must have tweaked it to get the right audience & thereby reducing their cost. Facebook ad is more of trial & error when launching it for the first time.
Also install a Facebook pixel on your website in order to track people who visited your website from the Facebook ad. With this, you can setup a new ad to target only them & their look alike audience. Since they visited your website after seeing the ad, 60-70% of them must have been interested in the product. Targeting only them & their look alike will make better sense & will convert more than the first ad

okay bro. Actually, traffic isn't our problem but I think the product itself.

Some guys imported their from China with good images of the product etc. Sadly, it does not work. We decided to look for a local maker for one that worked. The local maker's own actually works but the packaging isn't good or as stellar as the imported one.

So when people visit our site, there seem to be something repelling them. Remember Nigerians don't like anything made in Nigeria, as in majority of them and our packaging, both image and all appeared so.

We had as much as 2000 visitors on first day bro but could only record just 5 sales, whereas those with even lesser traffic get as much as 23-30 orders per day.

My friend has decided to test with the imported one and by end of today we shall know.

This is a classic example of how entrepreneurs get it wrong.

You just missed a golden chance to market your product and website at the same time and you here complaining about poor sales.

You never know when a potential client may stumble on this thread right now.

How will the sales come when u guard your web addresses like a top FBI secret? yet you pay facebook for adverts

A website is nothing but your shop online. A replica of your physical shop kind of.

You need to take some lessons in marketing.
Invest in some form of training my brother.

You sure need it.

If that is the challenge then he needs more training on marketing and brand positioning.

Even if the oga decides to hide his website, competitors will still exist.

Competition is normal in every industry.

agreed. they can start competing when he has sold his first batch and recovered his expenses.

not people that will browse the thread, discover the name of a product selling 30 copies per hour, then start selling same products themselves with the skills op his asking for rather than teach him (after he has told them the hot selling product).

let's just assume he's selling car tyres then use that as a case study to teach him FB marketing.

You have a good head on your shoulder. The market is a money spinner, we have done all the background work. Even those friends who record better results than us said our sales page is kick aSs... but why are we having lesser sales than they? they themselves say they can't answer cos they don't know.

So we narrowed our observation to how we packaged the product in the picture. My friend has decided to test with the imported version cos the manufacturers took awesome images of their own product, which is the only area we seem to be lacking.

Then I recalled at one time, I bought a wristwatch from China because of just the picture quality. The seller had over 1k feedback and I used same picture to sell same watch and also recorded good sales both here on nairaland, kaymu, olx. Truly, a picture says a thousand words.

Business, marketing is all about trial and error. We have decided to replace the product on our website with the image of the imported one to see the difference. By tomorrow, we shall know.

God bless you for your matured response. This is something I am not willing to risk divulging at the moment.

Anyway, actually, traffic isn't our problem cos we got as much as 2000 visits on first day. The thing is something is repelling them when they visit our site and we have narrowed our observation to picture of our product when compared to the one imported.
