It is no longer news that bleaching has become a trend among many Nigerians - both celebrities and regular people, these days.

They call it skin toning, brightening, lightening, whitening and what have you. It is a phenomenon that has been in the Nigerian society for decades and has turned a huge business for cosmetic industry. According to World Health Organisation (WHO), 77% of women in Nigeria use skin-lightening products.

Well, a married Nigerian man who is currently married to a 41 year old woman who bleaches has taken the pain to share his story, warning Nigerian men to NEVER WIFE A BLEACHER.

Yeah the demand is much higher, personally, I prefer them especially for short time fun, for serious stuff, she must, of course, be wholly beautiful and natural

Gone are the days of perfume jelly cream and cocoa butter, now all you see where creams are been sold are tone this tone that. I hope we learn to appreciate ourselves, becos some whites even envy our skin. Teamblackrocks

They are in high demands now o, the hussle is real. However, I think the OP's wife did the cheap bleaching. The IT thing now is the gentle removal of several layers with natural products like papaya, avocado etc. It doesn't make them smelly and gives even tone. As for me, I'm stuck with my dark skin, not because I don't like the fair ones but because it will be disastrous to change. Everyone should know her limits

Naturally, I love swarthy and ebony complexion women, fair women don't sway me coz their (complexion) is mostly deceptive and fake. And I've already sworn that if and when I'm to commit to a light complexion lady I'll see her childhood pics to confirm if she's naturally fair. Can't marry bleachers.

At a point, I started asking myself the kind of place I was

Any body that bleaches his or her skin to me suffers from low self esteem.

I seriously wander why stress oneself to spend hundreds of thousands, valuable and precious time in painting and bleaching a body that will still end up in the morgue... it's just a pity our girls are not learning, see a beautiful black girl abroad and try to find out how many whites are wasting money to change their skin to her color...
