I understand the points my Ogas at the top are making.

It's not bed of roses anywhere in the world.
For those who want to sell properties - please do a present worth/future worth analysis. Decide carefully.

For those in the category, graduated well and nothing is well for them even in the well (job wise) - take a big leap of faith, keep your head low and work hard. You will make it.

For those with jobs, and are not satisfied - tread carefully, so that you don't come here next year and paint Deutschland black.

The point my Ogas are making is simple - it's not all rosy out there. But with determination and focus you will make it.
As for me and my house - my mind is made up, whether bad or worse/good or better. The only person standing in my way now to Deutsches dream is the VO.

After all when the children of Israelites wanted to enter the PROMISED land, 10/12 gave a bad report - 2/12 said otherwise.

One pinch of good report is enough for me!
I rest my case.

Why would a single young man need a 700Euros 2BD apartment? shocked
Priorities bro!
And please stop with the taxes already....you do know about filing tax returns right? even as a student, you can file for tax returns every year if you work beyond the regulated amount so you get your money or some part of it back.

Going back to Naija with your M.Sc certificate will only get you a moderate paying job at best and that is if you can find it.

Truth is if Naija will work and be better, Owo Naija will stay in Naija too because they will tax everyone heavily to get things done. That is the way of the world. If i work and pay my bills and taxes, and then enjoy all the good of the land then by all means i am better off
.

Easy bro...E no easy anywhere but it is a whole lot better than where we are coming from.

Walahi.......5 bottles of Lacasera for you bro....I agree with you bajebaje

[20/06 07:36] Me: Let me post somethings they said each then you advice accordingly
[20/06 07:37] Me: They are coming under the student visa. But their main aim is to make it big. Big money, big cars, big everything
[20/06 07:46] Dennis: That's what some of the refugees expected to find here. Now they are burning their own places because it's too bad to live there. There is no big money for average people. The middle class has enough for living but not for more
And who says we are all looking for big money and making it big. Some of us know what the exposure will do for us. Some of us are interested in building bridges not skyscrapers. Becos we know how far that bridge can go. The truth is this so called making it big in terms of money is what is blinding most people. That's why some people don't see the opportunities they re supposed to be seeing. Coz all they think of is making it big in terms of money. Like someone rightly said. Priorities. So while u ask your friend also let him know that they are some people who want to build bridges and even know that a black man can bring opportunity to the white man. Thanks

I know the point they are trying to make. All these argument started from the guy that want to sell his house and danfo. I'm still in naija but if I'm in his shoes, I'm not selling anything. I'll use it to get that money for funding my block account even if it takes me 3yrs. Rushing to germo is for us that graduated with no job in naija or very low paid jobs or for people that comes from a rich family who can comfortably support them in getting that quality education. I'm living with my brother now as a graduate. Teaching in a sec school which gives me stipend. So, my bro shelter, feed, and sometimes cloth me as a graduate. So, nothing you guys will say about my German dream that will shake me to have a second thought. I'm not going there to hit it big. I am going there to start living. So, if you are in my shoes, we are good to go. Still expecting admission from Jena, Würzburg, Bochum, and Bonn-rhein-sieg. Thanks

The Programming language stated above are mostly meant for Software Development. Not eveybody can delve into software considering their diverse fields and background.

You can also delve into learning CMS (Drupal, Joomla, Wordpress, (TYPO 3), e.t.c) I bolded the Typo 3 because this is what major schools, organizations/company uses in Germany.

Moreso, graphic packages like Adobe Photoshop, Corel Draw, Microsoft Packages(Word, Excel, Powerpoint) are also very key.

Without forgetting to includ IT programmes like SAP, Oracle, ERP, CRM at least for the social science students.

you guys should visit http://www.sololearn.com/

It'll help you get started..

Adding some touch of German will also do you alot of Goodies.

Where you blind to see the post of the guy aiming to earn 1 million per month? Or you just want to be critical.
The main thing I want to get from this guy is post study work visa, how to get it, if jobs after graduation is possible, most likely pay and how much will ho back as taxes and bills. Because in all truthfulness I have only known 1 African who got it I mostly see people moving from one student visa to another one during their stay.
Well didn't see that. Pls also ask your friend about positioning. Don't just tell us what doesn't work also tell us what works. Coz I have people who companies are chasing after n getting their permanent residence was a piece of cake coz they had the right skills the companies wanted. Plus the one who was employed on the day of his convocation. My point is there is a better way ask your friend about that. Not just about how to fail. Ask how to succeed not just how to jump in front of a speeding train. Let him tell us courses that are no good to get a permanent residence and skills that can set one up for success. Thanks again

The way you seem to think is very disappointing, I don't want you to feel insulted but maybe try to sincerely reassess how you still think and adjust.

-Every sane ambitious person wants to make it big, big cars, a lovely house etc. Nobody wants to be mediocre. If you look at the state of things in Nigeria at the moment. The probability that you will remain mediocre even if things improve is high, if this country starts getting it right now. It is not our generation that will enjoy the sacrifices we have to make.

- To make it in anything you do, anywhere in the world, you have to take risks. Big risks, small risks, it depends on your personal ability to take the risk, your threshold for risk. Risk means, you realise that there is a possibility of failure and there's also possibility for success. And you are ready to expose your self to the failure for the success you seek. The amount of failure you expose yourself to, is a result of your threshold for risk. I am typing this off the top of my head, I might not be accurate or comprehensive, but try to follow . Everyone who has done anything on his/her own understands this. It's a risk to use your last N100 to transport yourself to where you can make 1k, because your making 1k is not sure, but you will do it for the 1k even though you know you might have to trek home. You know you can do it, if you have to.
The people on this thread who have made enough to build a house, buy an SUV or Danfo understand this.
The willingness or otherwise, to sell your belongings to travel for quality higher education in Germany is NOT your decision to make for anybody. It is not really your concern if you have done your duty of sensitizing us to the cons of the German education hustle (which is all I see you do on this thread). It is the decision of the property owner to make.

What nevilbot, Diboss and Co have done, explaining the usual expenses on a salary of €2500/mo is enough. Explaining the difficulty of getting jobs in certain fields of study is enough, for any right thinking person to make a decision.

Don't take it soo seriously 'for your head'. Don't spend your time sending messages to all your German friends when you can sit down access the German environment, figure out a need that you can meet or skill that is in demand related to your field of study and equip yourself.

The rule of demand and supply is the same all over the world. If you can supply what is in high demand, you will be highly sought after. It is only when you don't have anything of value to offer a society that the society rejects you

SOME OF US HAVE IDENTIFIED NEEDS TO BE MET IN NIGERIA AND WE SEE THE POSSIBLE TO ACQUIRE THE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE IN GERMANY, THATS WHY WE ARE HERE. SO IT'S FOR EVERY INDIVIDUAL TO CARRY OUT A PERSONAL RISK ASSESSMENT STUDY AND PLAN YOUR JOURNEY ACCORDINGLY.

See as I dey write essay for nairaland on Monday morning. *sigh

[quote author=DiBoss post=46733454]

who non go non know! Some risk are not worth it. The risk of selling a house in nija to pursue germo dream is not worth it at all. There are a lots of limitations in here that i wouldn't want to display online. It's easier to build a career in an english speaking country. it's not all about studying in Germany, its about integrating into the german system and believe me that would take another 5 years and above that is if you are very lucky. What you study also matters alot. if you are going to germany to study social sciences like banking, accounting, economics, finance and you wish to work with that in germany after your studies h.... OYO for you! May be 2/1000 of African population. If you think the system here will absorb you into their financial sector, insurance, economics after studies hmmm it means you are over lucky. You cannot compare germany with UK, Canada, USA in terms of life after school. The limitations in Germany are far more than what you think. I did BSc and Masters and i am very sure of what i am saying to a very large extent. If you are into engineering, sciences then there is hope for you. Mind you, I am not discouraging any one. But my point is plan before you take any move. Your planning should start from the city to study, what to study, life after studies. WHO NON GO NON KNOW![/quote

having this two courses in mind, which will be more selling after studies?
1)aeronautical engineering
2)automobile engineering

You go for opening of blocked account and then visa appointment.

Newbies should learn to read the thread
Re: General German Visa Enquiries Part 3 by chinok97: 8:52am On Jun 20, 2016
are you using blocked account or letter of sponsorship? if blocked account :book an appointment for opening of blockedacct,
https://service2.diplo.de/rktermin/extern/appointment_showDay.do?locationCode=lago&realmId=695&categoryId=1157&dateStr=07.06.2016 (change the language to English yourself, don't let Google translator whine u)
then, go wth the required docs needed and stated in ur appointment mail i.e print out of appointment mail, Admission letter and 2 copies, 2 filled Deutschebank account form via pc, passport and 2 copies of its data page, be there at the exact time or earlier, and your N4500. after opening, you are given a receipt, you can book for visa interview with that and your admission letter or you can decide to fund before the booking for interview.
you can get the latest db form from here: https://www.deutsche-bank.de/pfb/data/docs/pk-kredit_finanzierung-db_international_opening_a_bank_account_for_foreign_students.pdf

if you are using letter of sponsorship, i dont know how that goes, let the other brothers help with that, but your supposed sponsor has to go to his alien office fr some documentation.

NB:you get your account details frm DB 3-4weeks after opening .

Yes, you have to book an appointment with the embassy to open a blocked account using the link provided above. Also, you have to download the form for the blocked account. Check the embassy website for these links and documents required.
