I knew that. The vegetation just simply covered up the water.. The river didn't really dry up

I don't think so. No matter how thick the leaves are, it shouldn't be as hard as it is. In other words, people standing on that vegetation should feel a wobbling movement due to the water underneath.

Anyway the government should still do further investigation to know the true cause since it extends several metres before the bridge.

Dear commissioner, take your boys to the site and clear the said vegetation. Don't wait for accident to occur first.
Very uninspired commissioner I tell you. Does he even know the difference between a river and a channel, an aqueduct? That's no river for godsakes. Even without regard to his assumption that the flow was ebbed by vegetation. Vegetation cannot stop constant unidirectional flow. Ever. Water will always find it's way. Clearly the volume was reduced and the flow ebbed from somewhere farther up the channel.
And he kills it by suggesting there's water flowing underneath vegetative cover over the area people are walking upon?? A giant vegetative raft?
What a ridiculous man. What would it cost him to make necessary calls and have all the facts before releasing such an unimaginative statement? Probably sat in his office eating amala while one of his half-baked boys went to the scene and came back to share his half formed ideas.

It has nothing to do with any miracle whatsoever....

undecided in advanced countries they don't give oral warning and leave the scene unprotected they rather barricaded it and deployed security personnel ..

it's not dried. it's covered with vegetation strong enough to support people's weight.

I hope people won't die from weakened vegetation when it starts breaking.

Instead of Amosun to govern responsibly by issuing statements and/or warning as done by the Lagos state government, he is out there issuing opposing statements against the grazing bill which would save lives.

This governor of Oyo state needs to get his priorities right. He needs to get off his butt and take decisive actions before some of the illl advised Ogun residents are washed away and drowned. Nansense. embarassed

MrTruth4real:

What I heard is that over the years, dumping of refuses in the river, has lead to some kind of chemical reaction wich made the see weed to grow rapidly. It happen gradually but became noticeable when the river stop flowing. The river is still very much there but the refuses and see weed is blocking it's flow from the source.

But on a normal basic if the weed is going to grow and block it how come that place is solid and bicycle even work on it, because a normal dry rivers we still be muddy see the weed it's look like as if water no they there again
