Israel are on the verge of completing what will be the world’s highest solar tower located in the desert of Negev, Southern part of the country. The solar tower, known as “Ashalim Tower“, when completed by the estimated time of late 2017, will rise to 240 meters (787 feet) and become an alternative source of power generation to its citizens. This technological feat depicts the country’s unflinching hopes and believes for renewable energy as the future of power generation.

Nigeria blessed with abundance of sunshine should explore such projects for the benefits of its citizenry.

Interesting! Was it not in this same desert did they discover oil?

With the vast land of the north, individuals should really be thinking of starting a solar farm there.

We need private hands to start technological investment in Nigeria, one of our biggest problem is always waiting for government to do everything for us

Agreed but the government should take the lead, make the business environment conducive for investor and business minded individuals. With this, Nigeria will be better for it.

What we have are rulers not leaders. Men and women who are after their selfish interest rather than the collective interest of the Nigerian State and citizens.

The generating arm of the power sector has been privatized so nothing is stopping private investors from participating

The generating arm of the power sector has not been privatised. it is only the distribution arm that was privatised hence the different distributiong companies for different states and regions. thats why the minister of power is still working on icreasing the amount of megawatts we generate.

Both generation and distribution has been privatized, the only aspect remaining is transmission which still one of the major problem we have. Government building more plants is to fasten power generating process instead of waiting for private to come build more, even at that most of the ones the government is working on is based on private partnership.
