@ Henry 120, good news from the airforce. 10 additional choppers is a very good addition for surveillance and quick reaction.

It's very good news. 10 LUH would definitely boost our Quick Reaction capabilities.

I'm actually looking out for more gunships and attack helicopters. There's been a lull on information coming out of that angle.

This is the most significant news of this past week. A KAF Pararescue unit. So are we going to see more utility helos purchased by the KAF?

maybe or they will continue using some of its MI-171 and SA 330 Puma helicopters(most of them are nearing their end of their life span) ,what they seriously need is a utility transport air craft .i believe most of our DHC-5 Buffalo are retire or seriously unairworthy (bought them back in the 70's)

I think they are, read that Air force statement again. It seems all 10 would be used for surveillance and QRF in the NW.

However, i don't quite understand if the E-135 and Dauphin are part of the helicopters which claims were made, about being upgraded by Paramount group.

The EC 135 and Dolphin ara also recent, in the sense that they where just recently donated by NNPC TO NAF and they would be deployed to the NW theatre.

According to what iblawi posted on the other thread ; 10 helicopters acquired and NNPC donated the ER135 & dolphin helo..?

smart weapons are the future, russia most relies on it immense strength and if it does invest on this smart technology weaponry.it will loose new emerging powers

@henry 240 you can also consider buying turkey Aselsan ASELPOD Advanced Targeting,it has quiet extraordinary capabilities

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zmy-eTWmznc

it seems Pakistan air force has chosen the Turkish ASELPOD for its JF-17,what will be nigeria choose ?

TURKEY’S ASELSAN IS SELLING 16 ASELPOD TARGETING PODS TO PAKISTAN

Earlier in the month, Aselsan, one of Turkey’s main defence vendors, announced that it had secured a $25 million U.S. export sale for its ASELPOD advanced targeting pod. It did not disclose the country, but at this point is all but an open secret that the customer is Pakistan.

According to Turkey Monch Publishing, a leading Turkish language defence news outlet, Aselsan will sell 16 ASELPOD advanced targeting pods under the $25 million contract. The delivery of the pods will begin in 2017, and the integration process take place in both Turkey and Pakistan.

In Turkey, Aselsan will configure the pod for the receiving platform – i.e. the JF-17 Thunder. This would include work on the ASELPOD’s software and communications equipment, to ensure that the system works with the native systems onboard the JF-17. Meanwhile, Pakistan will produce the external pylon or hard-point that will be used for the ASELPOD.

Aselsan reportedly competed against the Thales Damocles and Lockheed Martin Sniper for the contract, but won on the grounds of offering a package that offered the right balance of performance and savings.

The Turkish Air Force has 73 ASELPODs in the pipeline, which in time will join the 16 it is already using on board its F-16 and F-4 combat aircraft as well as CN-235 light utility transport aircraft.

Development of the ASELPOD is ongoing; for example, a two-way data-link configuration is being developed, this will enable the ASELPOD to double as an intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) solution in addition to its principal role as a targeting pod.

The ASELPOD weighs 235kg and has a length of 2.35m. Its electro-optical and infrared (EO/IR) sensors can track up to eight targets at a laser-designation range of up to 25km, and a general range of up to 55km. It can track moving vehicles such as main battle tanks at up to 15km. The ASELPOD can be used a day and at night, and it is capable of being paired with laser-guided and INS/GPS precision-guided munitions.

When we get to that bridge, we should be able to cross it, let's first see the JF-17s in NAF service.

The 10 units of LUH we recently got is still very fresh in Nigerian minds.

Thanks for the images. I have been hunting and still hunting images of what else the ZDF brought to Amani Africa.

The ZFB05 APCs you attached are Mozambican. You can just make out the flag below the number on the side.

Moza has acquired quite a bit of light armour lately.

I don't believe we are in shape for any foreign involvement. Could send some "advisors" but I cannot see an overt mass deployment

I've just been reading about the blue-on-blue incident when a T-72 of the NA 81 Battalion fired on a REVA APC of the 72 MSF, killing 3 (2 Saffers from STTEP). Lack of comms equipment increased the risk exponentially when the 2 rendezvoused after dark. It boggles the mind that after all this time, so many REVAs seemingly aren't spotting any comms antennas.

Below are the only pics I've seen with comms.

Light Utility Helicopters are just as important as the MI-17, nobody is going to sell you a Black Hawk. 10 units are enough to hold a party over.

They are an important Recon, SAR, Scout, armed helicopter.

Thats why i wondered what was the hullabaloo over egypt acquiring harpoon anti-ship missiles from america considering they are sub sonic and with todays modern CIWS,make them almost useless.you need a barrage but when its comes to the super sonic BrahMos Anti-ship missile thats another story

i remember reading somewhere Egypt , s.africa , Algeria want to buy it.
though not sure on the authenticity of that news.

also was going through Russian blogs , the guys there were saying brahmos against heavily defended targets like aircraft carriers uses the wolf pack mode ie they communicate among themselves and attack in a swarm.
therefor i wonder maybe this is the reason behind the unusual heavy load-out (16 missiles) of brahmos in the new Indian destroyers. otherwise worldwide 8 surface to surface missiles r generally carried.

Exactly, makes you wonder. The Russians though, they are entirely on a whole other level when it comes to missiles. The BrahMos is so precise.

How much does does it takes t equip every combat vehicle with comms. It should be a standard practise for a very military vehicle!!!
