Please Ladies Can You Answer This Question? by Dejideji1(op): 3:26pm On Jul 02, 2016
This question has been bothering me for quite a long time now, but I think it's time i throw it open for mature minds here and get answers.

We all know that women go through a lot of pain during Labour, even though I have read about orgasmic Labour but I don't think majority of women experience it, or some shy away from disclosing it. But the fact still remains that Labour/birth is Still a painful process for many.

why is it that despite the excruciating pain, a woman still repeats the course for example a woman with four children., she still goes for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th. I know some women still have more.

The record holder for the most prolific mother in the world is a Russian woman and she gave birth to 69 children imagine!

Please my question is what keeps you going as a woman? ( asin daring to repeat the painful process again).
Is there any logical explanation for this? because i have heard of several cases of women swearing during Labour that they will never do it again, but before you know it, they are pregnant again.

Please no bashing i believe we are all mature, If you do not have any reasonable contribution to make you can pass.

thanks.

We have painless labour procedures. Some women have wide pelvic, it's easy for them to gave birth. can't wait for mine to happen. wink

I'm not married but neither I'm I a woman but op isn't it common to see women that gave birth to a child and is still under pressure from the husband and the other families to produce more children?

They forget how much it hurt.

That's how brains are wired, to forget strong unpleasant sensations.

When you are cold, can you *imagine* how it is to be very hot? Can you imagine the sensation of being too hot? It's difficult. The neural pathways involved are the same as those involved in pain and labour.

It's a positive genetic trait evolved from the requirement to propagate life. Without this ability to forget the pain, women would have one child alone, which is not enough to maintain a breeding population when you consider mortality rates.

Women remember "it hurts", but they don't remember the strength of the physical sensation. It is a disconnected memory. There is, obviously, genetic diversity - so this doesn't apply to *all* women.

It's the simplest way I can think to explain it. If you need clarification, just ask smiley

My mother once told me that once you set your eyes on your child, you won't remember anything about the pain you went through, maybe just maybe that's where our driving force is. I said maybe because I haven't given birth before.

Most ladies with pregnancies after giving birth aren't planned, so they end up having more kids even wen they dread labour.

My elder sis was in labour so i was sent to go and spend time with her while my mum was on her way to us, it wasn't a funny experience, all the women in labour that day were all screaming of different pains, i was moved to tears so within me i was like....if dis is wat labour is, den i don't want to have kids. funny experience and unfortunately we lost her in an excruciating labour pains.

Is never easy, whether close or wide pelvics those pains are inevitable.

Like I said, there is genetic variation in the population. It doesn't apply to everyone.

I broke a leg when playing football yrs back I got a PVC to hold it in place. Guess what? I still played whilst the PVC. So the lesson is when it comes to something we love and hv made habits as humans, we condemn the pain and still do it anyway. Women love raw sex so much they dont mind the pain that might come later wd it. So, are we cleared?

But it must apply to a large percentage of women (at least 90% and above) If we take random samples around the world, it will be very hard to actually find women who stopped at the first child due to the experience of Labour pains and the fear of attempting it again.

I quite agree with the answer you gave on this topic earlier, but if you say it doesn't apply to every woman then, i want to believe that the percentage of such women must be negligible/insignificant.

I don't actually know the statistics, I'm not sure anyone has performed that study, but I am inclined to agree.

However, I am wary of making sweeping generalisations. I don't speak for all women, I don't have a child. I am just quoting the currently accepted theories.

Neither do I, and I'm not dead sure about that percentage(90% and above i stated earlier) but like you rightly said, "women would have one child alone, which is not enough to maintain a breeding population when you consider mortality rates".

Thus nature will do everything possible to ensure continuity hence the percentage of women that your answer will not apply to must be negligible.
