The Police Service Commission (PSC) has promoted several officers and named a new management team for the Nigeria Police Force.
In a statement released today, the Police Service Commission announced its appointment of seven Deputy Inspectors-General of Police (DIGs) to head various management departments in the country’s police force.
Among the new appointees is former Assistant Inspector General of Police, Shuaibu Gambo, who is now the DIG in charge of the Department of Finance and Administration. Other appointments are Joshak Habila, the DIG for the Department of Operations; Maigari Abbati Dikko, DIG for the Department of Logistics and Supply; H.M. Dagala, DIG in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (FCIID); Emmanuel T. Inyang, DIG, Department of Training and Development, and DIG Ntom Chukwu, assigned to Department of Research and Planning.
The other new assignments are DIG Folusho A. Adebanjo, who will take charge of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and Abdul Bube, an AIG who will assume the role of police secretary.
The PSC statement disclosed that notice of the new appointees had been forwarded to the Inspector-General of Police for implementation, Ibrahim Idris.
Last week, the PSC announced the retirement of 21 AIGS whose careers were cut short because they had seniority over Mr. Idris, recently appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari as Nigeria’s acting IGP

I have tended to pay little attention to allegation of Buhari's sectional approach to appointments as I dont really think it matters that much.

But once again, it does seem that the northern guys have the more high - profile roles.

DIG Chukwu...Dept of research. DIG Iyang ... Dept of training.

Hope this is not some kind of punishment for these guys.

Common keep quite .Nigeria belongs to everybody and thats why it is called Nigeria. I am more buharist than you will ever dream of but this is getting too much and reducing the image of Mr president to that of a sectional leader.
You cannot tell me its only one part of the country that have competent people in this country hence are automatically filling various sensitive positions.
This is a great oppurtunity to reassure Nigerians that PmB Is not on a Nothernization agenda but rather on a mission to fix Nigeria. But I'm afraid Mr president and his handlers seem oblivious of this opportunity.
The greatest threat to our continued existence is not poverty or under development but religion and ethnicity which are the major
components of the DNA of every Nigerian.
I do care if almost every sensitive position is given to a particular ethnic group because they are over 300 ethnic groups in Nigeria. are the other ethic groups not good enough? Or why are they called Nigerians? Shouldnt they have a say in their own affairs?
President Buhari its time to assure every Nigerian that they have a say in their own affairs and the future belongs to the Nigerian.

How you know say I dey make noise The way I see it PMB always has to create a balance between appointing on merit and appointing to sooth frayed ethnic nerves. He will not always achieve such. The question is what if we were guaranteed that this team (appointed by the PSC) could actually do the job, and cause a paradigm shift in the NPF, would you give your support? or will you withhold it on the basis of the need for ethnic equilibrium?

Thank God you mentioned what if which means its still a gamble. You also admitted to a lack of ethnic equilibrum which is quite a good a start. My question to you is what if buhari shops for competent Nigerians across board and they eventually reposition the NPF. Abi na only Notherners dey good enough?
Buhari needs to run an all inclusive goverment because we still have excellent qualified Nigerians in every tribe.
Thanks

My point exactly. He could fix a greater percentage of southerners in the key positions, and they could fvck up the whole system, worse than they met it. This newly assembled team could also be the salvation the NPF needs at this time. There is no guarantee, whatsoever, on either side of the divide. Of course, there is a perceived sense of ethnic imbalance in appointments, but this has largely been as a result of the egocentric predisposition of past northern oligarchs, whose skewed appointments still affect the present day polity. Thus, the greater percentage of northerners readily available for appointment into advanced posts. If PMB tries to radically alter the paradigm, he would face stiff opposition (as he is now) he would be accused of dictatorship, thus losing local and international support and sympathy, thereby making a mess of his agenda of national redemption. The way I see it, there is no clear and suitable solution to the Nigerian conundrum. Egos must unapologetically be bruised.

Are the igbos not qualified for a better appointment.

I condemn this appointments, i condemn it.

This is a clear marginalization of the igbos.

For Gods sake what have the igbos done to this government that we are marginalizwd like this.

We igbos voted for Buhari massively except that elections were rigged.

We reject this appointment and urge Buhari to order its reversal without further delays.

So it is ego's of southerners that should be bruised and Buhari's own constituency which is the North should be spared. The man is taking the easy option which is clearly not what should be done by a man that is supposed to be the president of all Nigerians.
What happened to federal character? Look at the ambassadorial list that ended in a complete fiasco did he not have a choice.
You should not rob peter to pay paul. Yes Buhari is the face of the North but he should devise other means of satisfying his people not at the detriment of other ethnic nationalities.
Countries have made far less mistakes than this which led them into oblivion lets be grateful Nigeria is still intact after all these thoughtless actions by our leaders and try to chart a new course.

I find no verifiable evidence that the north is being spared, and it is because of the federal character BS that some technocrats were dropped from the ministerial list. Like I said, there is no easy option/solution for the now, but if things aren't shaping up by 2019, our votes will speak. Again.

Personally if things like this continue and president Buhari does not drastically reform this country. He can as well just retire to Daura by 2019.

We have to look on the bright side each time we see things like this. Nigerian project is one tenaciously pursued by some very few which still spells good omen for this nation.

Everything is not as it seems!

My question to you...what if your baboon employ southern will you still be saying this? Does it means the north are more qualified than literate south? You people are simply evil...if it was a southerner doing this, you people would have scream war

Congrats. smiley

As usual, the Wailing Cankerworms from Israel would arrive in droves to wail and spit all over the place over a PURELY NIGERIAN AFFAIR.

These idiots are quick to lump the NORTH together while separating the South into three different zones, whereas the North, just like the South, comprises of three zones!

They latch on this narative to deceive gullible readers to buy into their disgusting propaganda against the president who is sweating day and night to rid the system of the rot instituted by their useless god, Goatluck Jogogoro.

I wonder if they expect two or three names of the six to come from Uganda when Uganda is just a zone out of six. I won't be surprised if on verification, each person comes from each of the SIX geopolitical zones in the country.

Ride on Mr President, any useless bigot not comfortable with the appointments can recall their reps at all levels and go to hell.

How exactly would it benefit you if a "southerner" is given the more "high profile roles"?? Would that automatically curb corruption in the system?? Would that make police stop collecting egunje on our highways?? Would it instill professionalism on the rank and file automatically?? Would it fix our barracks??

What exactly??

This nonsense is getting downright stale and nauseating already.
