Are u Serious? Kindly check the last paragraph and maybe clarify if its a joint agreement or the STANCE of the Union. maybe you didn't read it well

Good! Are you now saying that the PERMANENT SECRETARY was there to watch 'Nigeria@60'?

That last paragraph is just to show RESPECT. The PS was there to represent the whole Ministry and must therefore give an official briefing of how the meeting went to the Minister...that's RESPECT.

Meanwhile, when JAMB first released modalities, did the Minister attend the meeting? Was it not the PS that attended and chaired the meeting on his behalf?

You see how the word 'STANCE' equals 'RESPECT'

I think i will agree with the scrapping of the CBT simply because Nigeria institutions are not just ready for it. Students are exposed to unforseen dangers just because most schools dont have enough facilities and equipment to conduct a CBT. A student expected to write an exam by 2pm is made to wait till 8pm or so, why? server is not connecting or computers are not.enough to accomodate most students at once and u imagine what is to be the fate of a student who came from a far away state and.has no where to stay. The last jamb was a perfect example as I know of so many candidates who falls into this category.

I know some universities paid up to #7,700 for their screening/post UTME,so this is a welcome development from FG to parents/students

Lol... I wrote Jamb exactly ten years ago and actually had no business with the thread. Curiosity just made me click on it (unto no knowledge is wasted things abi na information is power) only to see people expressing their hate for the government of the day rather than ask for help in understanding the news item like sensible students should do.

CBT is the easiest and most refined way to test people in the world today, be it JAMB or post UTME screening. In fact, a lot of institutions in advanced societies do many of the GNS, GST or basic courses as CBT. A lot of professional bodies also adopted it for some course modules especially because of the ease of administration.

However, your point is noted. I will read carefully and properly subsequently.

I sincerely can't say. Admission processes in Nigerian institutions always defy logic and is more often about who you know or how much you're willing to part with, than by merit. Even with this new system, I don't see the trend changing.

Having said that, using the instance you gave. Let's say the department can only take 200 students and then only 70 out of 1000 candidates applying for that department made over 80 points. These 70 are then admitted based on merit, leaving us with 130 slots.

IMSU being a state uni might then say for indigenes, they'll allocate 30 slot for those having between 60-79 points leaving us with 100 slots.

Then candidates who applied to other universities but are given provincial admission by JAMB would then be considered. Lets say 20 are admitted leaving us with 80 slots.

Then catchment areas (candidates from nearby states or so i think) gets 30 leaving us with 50.

The "Nigerian" factor comes in at these point for the remaining 50 slots. i.e who you know, how much so you have and then luck.

Lol.. Forget my jargon and be hopeful
