He's not far from the wall and already has a working relationship with the nights watch. Or any one of the nights watch company could have been captured and branded during their occasional forays beyond the wall.

That's why i think that the branded stark was and is especially significant. I don't think the night king can piggy back on just anybody. Which again leaves me to think that branded stark can just avert the whole showdown by killing himself or letting himself get killed. At the very least, he can delay the invasion until another raven is born and ventures beyond the wall to get himself branded as well.

So why doesn't he just stay behind the wall and die? if he does that, that's pretty much the whole white walker threat eliminated isnt it?

if they stay there death is sure but they can join forces with the New King JON (7kingdom) which is a better option
because as losprince said the long winter can freeze the top sea allowing the dead another route to the land of th living.

I always try not speculate about any factors that have not been explicitly or implicitly expressed on the show.

This is not the long first winter, and the guys who originally defeated the white walkers and had the presence of mind to put up a gigantic wall like that, would have done the same on the coast if a frozen sea was a factor.

Also a decision to walk over a frozen sea to bypass the wall raises questions of geographic knowledge, cartography, etc. It would require specialist navigational skills...skills that the show has not hitherto hinted as being part of the night kings repertoire.

So for these reasons, I will discount the theory of frozen seas.

So far, all we know is that the dead cannot currently pass the wall due to magical barriers. We also know that the night king can bypass these protections by piggybacking on the branded stark. Finally we know that Branded stark knows these facts as well.

I think that it would be incredibly selfish for Branded to cross the wall in the knowledge that he is literally the only known channel for crossing the wall available to night king.

It appears that night king can appear to branded stark almost immediately as well, so there's no guarantee that Bran would make it to Jon before the night king decides to show up.

For that reason, I think it would be gross irresponsible for Branded to cross that wall as things currently stand 9

but maybe the brand was just for the cave, I mean the three eye raven knew that the mark on branded stark would let the night king into the cave, he could have warned them of the same consequence if they were applicable on the wall but maybe he forgot or just decided to keep that information to himself, Let's hope branded stark doesn't have a hand in letting the night king cross over to the realm of men(no pun intended).

If a branded bran could make way for the army of the dead to pass through the wall, don't you think uncle benja would have followed bran n mira across the wall n not drop them on the way leading to the wall?
Or that the former three eyed raven would have told bran the implications of him going through the wall?
Or even uncle benja would have told him, or don't you think so?

No but I think the branding would only work if he was branded right after he has pass the wall and not before. If not, the three eyed raven would have told bran not to cross the wall or uncle Benjen would have told bran.

We can't assume that Benjen knows how the brands work simply because he is also undead.

Like losprince said, logically the only reasons the 3iraven could be silent on this issue is if he perhaps already knew that the mark only worked in the cave, or perhaps he felt no need to speak (ink already dry) much like before.

I could go ahead and add the prospect that perhapshe he dowsnt actually know the extent of the night kings magical power...but that would be at odds with a character who is portrayed as a near omniscient being.

Uncle Benjen was half cured (literally).
my number 2 guess is until the night king does the rituals of breaking the barrier if branded Bran crosses, no dead or half dead can cross first by itself.

I think it only works when the person dat is to be branded is already in the place that the dead intend to enter. My theory is that if the night king want to pass the wall through bran, then he will have to brand him again only when bran as already pass through the wall. That would give him a link to pass. I think the branding is just temporary.

Ah Game of thrones! The TV series everyone has got an opinion about. Well lemme write something even though it won't be relevant. The Night King is gonna cross that gigantic wall and you know why? Yes! Because that's what the show is all about. Branded Bran or no branded bran, the producers/directors will find a way to make the Night King cross that wall but as for who rules the seven kingdoms.....i don't know. I don't even have a fvcking clue. Either Jon or Daenerys but the throne belongs to Jon, the heir to Rheagar Targaryan, the commander of the Night's Watch and the King in the North.

Well too bad that I'll have to wait a year just to see GOT season 7 *sobs*

howland Reed must be the most useless man in the north and westeros as a whole.
when is character is finally revealed he better have been up to something more important than what as been going on so far.

I think Howland reed might be the guy to finally tell the world who Jon snow really is. He was @ the tower of joy and Ned stark might have made him swore to keep Jons birth a secret

You might have a point here, for brand to serve as a portal or homing beacon to the whitewalkers, he must be branded while on the other side of the wall or maybe as the common theory holds, his current branding will suffice for that purpose, if so, he doesn't need to die, he only needs to sacrifice a hand
