Hard as it may seem to believe, we are not really interested in getting converts, though we are happy when someone becomes Muslim. In Islam, each person has his own relationship with his Lord, and the Quran acknowledges that not everyone will be a Muslim. Also, there is practically nothing I can gain from you being a Muslim, so there is no motivation for me to spend my time trying to convert you. Do you see knowledgeable Muslims going house to house with bells and tracts?

Most reverts (because we believe that everyone is born in submission to the Will of God, therefore they just come back to the true faith) to Islam are those who study Islam on their own, either out of curiosity or to fight it, or to try to debate with Muslims ( that is why a number of evangelists revert); or those who live among Muslims, like the way of life and become Muslims.
As Salam Alaykum,All praise be to Allah the lord of the worlds..There are some common errors we should avoid whenever we are speaking in public, such as this forum especially concerning a religious issue as it could go a long way in changing peoples perspective. You goofed by saying there is nothing to gain in calling people to your religion. Firstly Islam is a Universal way of life and therefore addresses the entire community, this flows firstly from the fact that it is the religion precscribed by Allah(God),the Almighty to the whole of Humanity. Secondly Islam being a complete code of life, providing clear cut criterial for man's activity in all demands of life,Social, economical, political and ideological alike, posses all embracing characteristics,Hence it naturally captures the interest of the highly cultured and the less educated, the wealthy and the poor, the specialist and the layman, the intellect and the ordinary. Islam urges DAWAH(call to islam) but with uses of WISDOM and ELOQUENT speech, Allah says in the Quran,16 verse 125 "Invite mankind to the way of your Lord with wisdom and fair preaching, and argue with them in a way that is better." Dont say things concerning religion out of personal context or opinion. Stay Blessed.

A new Muslim who has yet to learn to do Solaat in Arabic should join the congregation and simply follow the Imaam's lead. If he/she has time to learn to do Solaat in any other language, he/she sure has enough time to learn it in Arabic. If however he couldn't possibly learn except in some other language than Arabic- a situation which is farfetched, the permissibility to pray in any other language might be applicable on a case by case basis, fearing Allah as much as doable.
OK

I have said nothing that disagrees with the above. My only objection is to your misquote of what I said (bolded). I said that I have nothing personal to gain from the op being a Muslim. Your above statement, while laudable, says nothing that proves otherwise.

EXACTLY, this is my opinion. The difference is that I am of the view that the 'wisdom' cited here, does not entail knocking on people's doors, blaring loudspeakers in the middle of the night or forcing total strangers to listen to your postulations whether they like it or not. It involves living by example, being confident and firm in your faith and using 'eloquent speech' at the right time; mainly as I pointed out; when you are called upon by interested parties to teach them about any aspect of Islam, or in response to public misinformation on Islam. As you can see, I have said nothing out of personal opinion, nor does what I said conflict with any percept of Islam. If anything, I am more hardline on the issue of relying on authentic sources for Islamic belief than you are.

You also may have overlooked the fact that Islam is all about personal salvation, not world conquest.

Using the language in which the holy book was revealed help to curb the loss of the message due to translation errors. Arabic is a language with so many nuances that translation or transliteration is hardly 100%correct.
So use of the language. Is encouraged but not compulsory. Only compulsory when praying salat. Not compulsory when you wanna talk to God directly, here a language you best understand is better.
only in solat is arabic compulsory....may Allah forgive u.

What about the few Muslims who preach on Christian and Moslem neighborhoods. Are there actions not Islamic?
Yes there actions is Islamic. It's the duties of muslims to give dawah(mean informing people about message of Islam) and the should also have the freedom to accept or reject the message of Islam, we as muslims cannot force our religion on anybody as we are told in the Quran
"Allah says: “Let there be no compulsion in religion. Truth has been made clear from error. Whoever rejects false worship and believes in Allah has grasped the most trustworthy handhold that never breaks. And Allah hears and knows all things.” [Sûrah al-Baqarah: 256]"

Even Prophet Muhammad (saw) preached to his own uncle about Islam on many many occasions and yet the uncle rejected Islam through out his life because in Islam not even the prophets Muhammad (saw) can Force religion on anybody just like the to Muhammad (saw) in the Quran : “The Messenger’s duty is but to proclaim the Message.” [Sûrah al-Mâ’idah: 99]

Muslims only usually speaks Arabic among themselves and if the Arabic was spoken during a lecture it is usually followed by translation to the local language 99.999 % of the time

I think that was exactly what I meant , you saying arabic is compulsory in solat will not make a muslim strive toward learning it.

Tell me....all those supplications from the prophet, how is expected to say it if he or she doesn't understand arabic. Arabic is needed in every aspect of our religion that is why seeking is compulsory according to the saying of the prophet(pbuh)

Don't think I will reply you

Jumat08:
As-Salam Alaykum...... All praise be to Allah the lord of the worlds and he is the All knowing. You can supplicate to Allah in any other languages but the ritual prayer must be in Arabic, performing the ritual prayer in another language can not be equivalent to its original language and meanings, Allah's word does not lie, Quran 54 verse 17 says..."And we have made the quran easy to remember, then there is any one who will remember(or receive admonition)?" Secondly,Allah doesn't want to make things hard for us and he says in quran 2 verse 185..."Allah intends for you with ease, and he does not want to make things difficult for you". These verses i quoted signifies that Islam is ease and it was made easy to practice for us,for how long will one continue to pray in english? We should not see things as huge as mountains and not make things difficult for ourselves, Shaytan(the devil)takes advantage of these situations where people make islam difficult for theirselves, Seek for knowledge and you will get it.May Allah strengthen our Iman, Allak knows best.
