Seems I'm the only one who thinks Iheanacho is overhyped. . . . .

TheGoodJoe:

As for me, a player who can not hack it in the training ground, can not hack it in match situation. Iheanacho in scrimmage matches in America pulled wonderful stats. In training games with the EDS pulled wonderful stats. In the training games with he main squad, we heard of Iheanacho scoring a lot of goals and doing funny celebrations.

Doing well for City and Nigeria was bound to happen because he was doing it.

There was no exciting report of Ighalo in training. Why start him ahead of an Obaje who was convincing and good. It does not add up. Ighalo not doing well in those qualifiers would have been averted if Coach Siasia stuck to those doing well in training.

There are no strikers in Portugal now that will do better than Nani and CR7. That is why they start. Not because of experience and number of games. No midfielder better than Renato Sanches. So he starts.

There is no way Deschamps will tell us that he has better players Greizmann and Pogba. That is why the should start. In training and on the pitch, these two will outperform any French player. That was why it was crazy leaving them on the bench.

The experience thing is just a theory to excuse mediocrity. Just as I pointed in Pellegrini leaving Bony and Demeichelis longer than necessary. In training, he would have seen they won't cut it. Leaving Adarabioyo, Iheanacho and Denayer out due to lack of experience gave mediocrity room to breathe in the squad.

If they are better they should do it in training. If they can not then, Coach Siasia will be giving mediocrity room.

That coach should still explain why he left Obaje out.
The simple case of starting Ighalo instead of Obaje hu u claimed did better in trainning simply tells u it is nt jst all abt who does better in training.

Coaches typically field players they trust can deliver the goods outside the training ground.

I did not disagree that coaches do not go with the player with more experience. It has been the norm for a while. In 2010, Neymar was clearly the hottest Brazilian player but Dunga opted to leave Neymar out of the Brazilian squad totally.

There is no way the other Brazilian forwards would do better than Neymar in training. However, Dunga decided to go with players with age and experience. Which meant going with players that are not as good as Neymar.

The Experience talk is a room for mediocrity.

What do you mean by Overhyped? That is the question I need to know. If you mean there are still areas in his game he should improve, then yes there is.

Antoine Greizmann, still has areas in his game that needs improvement. Especially when he dwells on the ball longer than necessary, will you call him overhyped?

John Dykes in EPL studio once asked how come there is not much buzz about Iheanacho after all he has done?

Yet you feel he is overhyped. In our last games, Iheanacho has been our best forward. Yet you feel he is overhyped. In two PreSeason games of Manchester City, Iheanacho was among the stand out players. You still feel he is overhyped.

When Iheanacho went to America to join Columbus Crew, the coach pointed out how good Iheanacho was, in a scrimmage match, he scored four goals.

Iheanacho in few times on the pitch pulled stats comparable to any top striker in the world. Yet you feel he is overhyped. When Tata Martino came to the Etihad with his Argentine National team, Iheanacho was among the few players he picked to train with the likes of Messi and Mascherano.

In few games in the EDS of Manchester City, Iheanacho stood out as the top talent there.

Iheanacho is not overhyped. It is his performance that earned him praises. As long as he continues working hard, he would achieve more.

He is not overhyped. I said it before, he is the most prolific finisher that Nigeria has produced in a while. He is also a great passer.

He still has weaknesses so hopefully pep can refine the weaknesses and make him a better player.

In terms of talent, the last couple of under 17 tournaments has produced 5 potentially world class talents.

1. Isaac Success
2. Iheanacho
3. Osimhen
4. Yahaya
5. Nwakali

But to be frank,he has done excellently well for both club and country, what else do u judge a striker if's not goals ratio

Yahaya is no where near potentially world class talents.

Where did he play last season? How many matches did he play?

I rate Osimhen higher than all on your list.

Nwakali? I still dey observe the boy.

I keep saying it dat this is the U23. The stakes are higher. It is expected that majority of the participating players should have 3-5 yrs senior professional experience. Sadiq Umar jst like Awoniyi may nt jst b able to face the opposing competition. Imoh and Ajayi to me are ahead of Umar and Awoniyi hu to me should b at the U20 camp preparing for the Sudan clash. I am really sceptical abt Sadiq's spare heading the attack. This is a national team set up and Sadiq is nt tested at this stage. I cannot put my stake on him to b d arrow ahead of the attack.

Obaje, Chikatara and Samuel could have brought more to this selection dan Awoniyi and Sadiq.
sorry to digress but I don't understand the obsession with Chikatara. Granted he's a good player but he'd has been pants this season. Returning a meger 4 goals and 3 assists. The young man had his head turned by the botched move to the power house that is Wydad. I don't think he should be in reckoning for the national teams for now till he sorts his head out.

Yahaya just signed for Porto after just a few months in portugal. The world class potential is certainly there.

So, is he better than Awoniyi who signed for Liverpool?

Remember, Liverpool is rated higher than all the clubs the top players on your list play for?

I rate Awoniyi higher than Yahaya.

Although, I don't want him to be selected for the Olympics because he is too timid, fragile, young, inexperience and out of form but nevertheless you cannot take away his talent from him.

My top 5 potentially world class talents from the U17 are.

1, Osimhen
2, Success
3, Iheanacho
4, Awoniyi
5, Nwakali

I saw Awoniyi at the Africa Olympics football qualifiers. The team was bad I mean very bad. So, how do you expect him to shine without a good passer?

Yes, he was very porous in that match and recently but talent na talent and you can't just loose it in a day.

How did he stall? He saw more games in a better league than Musa Yahaya last season.

So, how did he stall? Siasia just wan destroy that boy career by forcing him into the Olympic Football team.

The boy na small boy compare to his peers. He lacks confidence and he is too weak to face tough defenders but that doesn't remove an atom of talent from him.

He needs to chop akpu and carry weight for his stamina.

Awoniyi's lack lustre performance was part of y that team looked poor upfront. Ajayi and Osimhen contributed far more than Awoniyi in that tourney.

Awoniyi is average. Nwakali is among the most talented 17yrs olds in the world today.

Talented players can b spotted once dey play at U17. Compare Nwakali of U17 & Awoniyi of U17.

Hmm! You mean a player who came to replace Success and still went ahead to score 4 goals and 3 - 4 assist is lesser than Yahaya who started the tournament from start to finish but scored only 4 goals and 3 assist at the U17. Erh! Awoniyi outclassed him because he saved us in many games and single handedly won matches.

At the U20 tournament, Yahaya was outclassed by Awoniyi by miles. Scored two goals and 2 assist(thereabout) while Yahaya scored only 1 goal.

Now, see the statistics with your eyes. Who better?

Yes, you're right. That is why Liverpool spotted him.

Compare what? Nwakali wey no fit break into that team na em you wan take compare Awoniyi, one of the best in that tournament.

That enough shows Nwakali set na average players full am. I never fancy that set. They won due to Barcelona style of play and that's all.

Yahaya is nt a striker. Awoniyi only missed d first game.

Yahaya is by far a more skillful player.
Thankfully they are both still elligible for d next U20.

I wish Amuneke invites them both. Awoniyi may nt even make d U20 final list as he may have d ff players to compete with:
Victor Osimhen
Orji Okonkwo
Chidera Eze
Sadiq Umar

However, Yahaya on his part i believe can easily walk into d starting 11 of dat team
