Icon4s:
Yahaya is nt a striker. Awoniyi only missed d first game.

Yahaya is by far a more skillful player.
Thankfully they are both still elligible for d next U20.

I wish Amuneke invites them both. Awoniyi may nt even make d U20 final list as he may have d ff players to compete with:
Victor Osimhen
Orji Okonkwo
Chidera Eze
Sadiq Umar

However, Yahaya on his part i believe can easily walk into d starting 11 of dat team
Awoniyi came in as a substitute in 72 minutes for Ezeh and in the 32 minutes for injured success against Sweden.

We know what he did in that match. He singlehandedly got us a draw. He outshined Yahaya by miles in that tournament.

You say he is a striker but how come a striker had more assist than an attacking midfielder(Yahaya)?

No excuse. He was better than Yahaya in both tournament.

Who skills don epp? Skilful or not Awoniyi better pass am during that tournament.

Who is Oriji Okonkwo? Who is Chidera Eze? grin

Those players got there based on.... because I know see wetin that team play.

Their Barcelona style of play won them the tournament. There were just one or three good players in that team.

Wait for the U20 tournament then you will know.

Awoniyi was a disaster. Osimhen was even better.
That was glaring for all to see with exception of one player. All the players were disastrous as well.

What happened to Iheanacho at the U20 FIFA World Cup?

Don't you think he flopped big time in that tournament?

So, should we say he lost his talent?

And he is now an average player?

I saw Awoniyi at the Africa Olympics football qualifiers. The team was bad I mean very bad. So, how do you expect him to shine without a good passer?

Yes, he was very porous in that match and recently but talent na talent and you can't just loose it in a day.

How did he stall? He saw more games in a better league than Musa Yahaya last season.

So, how did he stall? Siasia just wan destroy that boy career by forcing him into the Olympic Football team.

The boy na small boy compare to his peers. He lacks confidence and he is too weak to face tough defenders but that doesn't remove an atom of talent from him.

He needs to chop akpu and carry weight for his stamina.
Osimhen was far more dangerous than Awoniyi. Awoniyi has looked bad, not just for the Olympic team but in the german second division. Maybe he needs to be moved up slowly. If i have a team right now, i will pick Osimhen ahead of Awoniyi.

Yahaya had contractual issues but when it was sorted, he looked awesome. Porto saw enough in his short spell to snap him up. He is still developing but he is way ahead of Awoniyi right now.

Yes! Osimhen was far more dangerous than Awoniyi in that tournament.

Maybe something is wrong with the lad.

If Awoniyi was not good, no German team would have used him. The fact that he played more games baffled me because I know German teams don't work with unfit players.

I don't know what you used in measuring his performance but why was he used consistently?

I would like to see Yahaya play once again to have a proper assessment of his talent.

If Awoniyi is average Nwakali is below average.

If he is why loan him out?

Yes, you're right. That is why Liverpool spotted him.

Compare what? Nwakali wey no fit break into that team na em you wan take compare Awoniyi, one of the best in that tournament.

That enough shows Nwakali set na average players full am. I never fancy that set. They won due to Barcelona style of play and that's all.
Who did they loan out?

It seems you are referring to Chidiebere Nwakali. That's not whom they are talking about.

Have you heard of Kelechi Nwakali before. He was the best player at the last U17. He is at Arsenal. Wenger gave him Kanu Nwankwo's no, 25. He is a potentially world-class player.

He has more potential than Awoniyi.

I pray for one Ndidi transfer every season - Genk President

Ndidi (middle) when he signed for Genk in January 2015

by Samm Audu

The President of KRC Genk has revealed the Belgian club will now hope to make a good transfer business every season as they did in the case of Nigeria international Wilfred Ndidi.

“The Genk President has said he wishes to do a good transfer business every season like they did with Ndidi, where they bought him for almost nothing and could now sell him for a little fortune,” a source told AfricaFootball.com.

It was understood Genk paid Nath Boys of Lagos less than $200,000 in January 2015.

And a year later, the Belgian club rejected a six million Euros bid for the defender-turned-midfielder from German Bundesliga club Hamburg.

And now reports suggest Premier League side Watford are ready to pay even more for the player, but Genk have insisted they won’t be selling a player who made 38 appearances and scored four goals in the league for his club to qualify to feature in the UEFA Europa League.

The exciting Nigeria star first went on trials to Genk in January 2014, before he signed a professional career with the club after he clocked 18 in December 2014.

He still has two more years on this contract at Genk.

forgiveness is leaving out the part that the only reason Chidebere Nwakali and Yahaya are not in the EPL is because of Work Permit issues. There was a lot of promotion in Tottenham and lesser talents got their chances.

The Debate of Awo and Yahaya does not even add up. tbaba1234 is right listing Yahaya among the World Class talents we have.

Awoniyi has a lot of work to do to measure up. He can not continue making the same finishing mistakes for over three years. Awo should not waste his ability and start training his finishing

Oga, you didn't see his leadership qualities, his range of long passes, the way he calms the tempo and speeds it up when the need arises, his excellent freekicks and the way he packs shots.

There are sometimes you do not argue and watch. For instance as I said before, I was not excited about Iwobi. Even when Icon4s hammered he was a brilliant talent. However, I did not criticise because Arsene Wenger refused to let him go on loan because he was nurturing Iwobi himself.

This is a coach who has nurtured some of the brightest talents in the game like Nasri, George Weah, Van Persie, Ashley Cole, Anelka etc. This man knows a good talent when he sees one.

When Kanu had a heart surgery, Arsene Wenger took the risk because of his belief in Kanu's talent and gave him that 25 Jersey.

When such a coach who refined talents like Adebayor and Henry, takes a young amateur Kelechi Nwakali who has not played long with the gunners and drafts him into the first team. There is something special about the player. He is good beyond your comprehension.

At such times, you quit arguing and learn from the master.

At this point, you can not say Kelechi Nwakali is not a special talent. Arsenal first team after the U17 World Cup golden ball reminds me of one special talent. Cesc Fabregas.

But he was relegated with his team. Okocha was relegated with his amazing skills.

Musa a one time player to score 17 goals in the Nigerian league was unable to save his team after he spent 3 good seasons while Awoniyi a novice in professional league football should turn to Maradona over night to save his already sinking club.

That is an irony.

Success missed but you can not compare their missing rate. You can not even compare their finishing ability. Awo has the talent to make a fine striker. I have never stopped believing that and it is unfortunate the Work Permit issue affected Awo. I believe if he worked in Anfield with the Reserve attacking coaches, they would have polished his finishing.

What is record and facts? Football is beyond record and facts. You have watched both of them play. You have eyes. That is why you are running up and down the thread with Awo. You suppose to be able to watch football and tell a better player.

When Renato Sanches came in as a Sub. You watch to tell whether he is a good player. You judge if his good. He was special that night. Will you go and start digging records and facts.

Celestine is one of the greatest left back I ever saw. I watched this guy do some amazing battle. Watch his games in Atlanta against Mexico, Brazil and Argentina.

Watch his game against Spain. Watch how Celestine drifts into midfield and combines with the likes of Oliseh and Okocha in midfield. He plays neat tidy passes to keep possession. Overlaps and tracks back effortlessly.

Football is beyond goals and shots. Are you going to dig out passes completed between Celestine and Taiwo? Are you going to give us interceptions and distance completed?

There is no debate here. They are not mates. If you can watch one of Celestine Babayaro's games against AC Milan. When AC Milan was AC Milan with legends and see Celestine pull out a memorable game. Do you know Celestine's longevity at Chelsea? Do not go there.
