[b] "The Igbo philosophy seems to be “money maketh a man” and the Igbo man is prepared to sink to any level or scale the
highest mountain to get money…No job is too menial for the Igbo man
...I think there are two main reasons why “the Igbo are everywhere.”
First, as I have stated, the Igbos will go to any length in search of money and since they are more willing than any other
tribe to do any type of work, no matter how menial, they are ready and cheap source of labour everywhere.
Another reason for their migration… is terribly overpopulated by its 12 million or so inhabitants, so that the Igbo is
constantly on the move in serch of a place to stand in.
While I admire the Igbos for their energy and industry, their insatiable desire for money makes me sick.
…I have stated elsewhere in this narrative that the Igbo does not believe that any kindness can be gratuitous and would
doubt your sincerity if you were prepared to do any favour for him without demanding or accepting a consideration.
As a matter of fact the Igbo man makes the offer before he begins to ask for the help he seeks. This remarks should,
however, not be taken to mean that there are no honest people among them.
There certainly are, but by and large, the average Igbo man seeks gain from whatever he does.
…One common charge against the Igbo is that if you give them an inch they will demand (and quite often take) a mile.
An Igbo man in search of residential accommodation is prepared to pay rent for even your kitchen store. Within a week of
his moving in, about half a dozen “brothers” come to “visit” him; within a fortnight more of them arrive. He then pleads
with you to allow them temporary accommodation in the house but soon they have become permanent and taken every
available space in your house.
There would be nothing wrong with this if they remained as tenant. But the sad part of it is that before the owner knows
what is happening these tenants are dangling money before his eyes for the purchase of the house itself or the adjoining
land.
The money comes to hand quite easily either through concerted efforts or some wealthy “brothers” or the tribal union,
and overnight the owner of the house becomes a tenant on his own land.
In like manner, they have surreptitiously ousted “nationals” of the other regions from their market stalls, from their
shops, from the rubber plantations and other forms of human endeavour. One may say, it is the stupidity of the other
people.
Is it any wonder then that some other regions in the federation entertain fear of possible Igbo domination?
IT IS TO BE HOPED THAT THEY DO NOT BECOME LIKE THE JEWS , objects of castigation and contempt for their industry
and adventurous spirit".

It's primitive because all your focus Is narrow and shallow....... tribal.

Imagine an America where only blacks patronize black or Indians patronize only Indians..........

And this is still better that what you guys are trying to celebrate here...... it's more more like Navajo Indians doing business with only Navajo Indians........... or descendants of Irish immigrants doing business with only themselves and avoiding Italian immigrants.

It's very primitive.
have you seen igbos do business to themselves alone? They prefer forming group which is open to all including most non Igbo so long as you play by their rules. No igbo ask you who you are when doing business with you. And pls Tell us one thing your region have achieved others haven't? Just one.

People Igbophobia is envy induced. There is nothing Ndiigbo can do about it, except we stopped being who we are, ie a people in constant pursuit of success, who are never satisfied with whatever they have but instead believe they can get more, if they put more effort. cool

[size=15pt]At least the Igbo guy was doing a legit job. If at all the story is true.

I am from Asaba and Yoruba guys have completely taken over my town. Doing all sorts of money doubling business and ritual Babalawos. They will rent your house and refuse to pay rent. Only to begin burying charms for you in your own father's compound ! So that you will be afflicted with a disease and die if you step into your father's compound.

I have decided to stop attacking Yorubas because I discovered abookis were intentionally setting up Igbo vs. Yoruba fights pretending to be either Yoruba or Igbo.

Anyhow, I suspect an abooki manufactured this story to stir bad blood and quarrel between Igbo and Yoruba

You don't understand the concept of GROUP ECONOMICS

It's only Jews and Igbo practise this so well

Don't blame the okada man ....he has his reason

In marketinf we call it appealing to emotions

INTERVIEWER: Why are blacks so behind economically?

JEWISH LEADER: The only aspect blacks understand is Consumption. Blacks don’t understand the importance of building wealth.
The fundamental rule is to keep your money within your racial group. We build Jewish business, hire Jewish, buy Jewish and spend Jewish.
There is nothing wrong with that but it is a basic rule blacks cannot comprehend and follow.
“He kills his fellow blacks daily instead of wanting to see his fellow blacks do well” 93% of blacks killed in America are by other blacks.
Their leaders steal from their people and send the money back to their colonial master from whom they borrow the same money from.
Every successful black want to spend his money in the country of his colonial Masters.
They go on holiday abroad, buy houses abroad, school abroad etc. instead of spending this money in their own country to benefit their people.
Statistics show that the Jew’s money exchanges hands 18 times before leaving his community while for blacks it is probably a maximum of once or even zero.
Only 6% of black money goes back into their community. This is why Jews are at the top and blacks are at the bottom of every ladder of society.
Instead of buying Louis Vuitton, Hermes, expensive cars, shoes, houses, dresses etc, blacks could industrialize Africa, build banks and get rid of colonial institutions by putting them out of business.

INTERVIEWER: Your thoughts on failure of blacks after 150 years?

JEWISH LEADER:Well, nothing is ever the Blackman’s fault. His compulsive habit of killing his own, compulsive material consumption, his inability to build business or preserve wealth are usually somebody else’s fault.

INTERVIEWER: So what can blacks do to liberate themselves?

JEWISH LEADER: Blacks must take responsibility. Blacks must unite and vehemently fight corrupt leaders who run down their country and run to IMF as though IMF is Father Christmas.
END OF INTERVIEW
Please forward this until it goes round Africa & particularly to our parasitic leaders. We all need to learn our lessons quick and build our African Nations.

Your problem is that you have already created a sort of stereotype against the Igbo, from what the Op wrote, it shows the okada man was in no way a tribalist. His choice of word "prefer" shows He would allow anyone repair his work but not when his prefered mechanic is just some poles away. Did the op ask the tribe of the nearby mechanic? Did he ask the relationship bw the man/the mechanic?... These are what shows the tribal tendency of the op. Because he has an already biased mind and would always not look at things beyond those biases. As for Who you call Igboid, I see no reason why that should by your problem as the same thing is obtainable in your tribe isn't it?

Most yorubas are ignorant about other parts of Nigeria
because they(yorubas) see many igbos in Lagos then they conclude that igboland must be deserted nd neglected like thier own hometowns

so i cant really blame the guy saying Ibadam(the brown roof capital) is better than any south east city

a colleague of mine(a yoruba boy) who wanted to come for my grandfather's burial was asking me if i had network in my hometown, that if his blackberry will ping there blah blah blah

useless question which i gave no reply

he came and saw with his own eyes that my town isnt like his town in ekiti where they climb rocks for network

This is just one of the many examples of group economics in igbo land . I doubt if Yoruba can boast of anything close to this

I am from Anambra and I know that group economics have helped us so much and these Yoruba claiming lagosian should help develop their rusty villages

Pls read on

Since I was born and in all the history books I have read, I have never seen any philanthropist as good as this igbo Man.

Umuchukwu in Orumba south Local Government Area of Anambra State, formerly known as Nkerefi was hitherto known as one of the backward and remote communities in the state as it was totally bereft of any meaningful government attention, even to the extent that 90 percent of Anambrarians (including me) have never heard about the community name,.

Because of the growing poverty and absence of opportunities, the community was a haven for criminality which climaxed with the kidnap of the community’s traditional ruler, Igwe Michael Ukaegbu, by some unknown persons.

But all these negative attributes were changed by the emergence of one of their illustrious sons into the scene, Dr. Godwin Maduka, a United States of America (USA) based medical practitioner, who through his foundation he set up 15 years ago, brought projects to the community and compelled the former Governor of the State, Mr. Peter Obi, to construct two roads connecting Umuchukwu and other neighbouring communities.

But the development of the community started with re-christening of Nkerefi to Umuchukwu after a referendum conducted by the administration of Obi.

When Dr. Maduka’s foundation visited the then Governor at Government House Awka, with the pathetic story of the deplorable state of their roads in Umuchukwu, they had elected to bear the 50 percent cost of the construction of the roads.

This moved Obi who visited the community himself and was overwhelmed by what he saw and then promised that the Anambra State Government will take over the responsibility of those roads.

Below are the pictures of the great man have done. Note : so many other projects especially the 100 Bungalows scattered all over the village for the poor Widows are not included in the pictures.

He built
1) two churches, one each for the Anglicans and Catholics.
(2) built Trinity Hospital and Maternity.
(3) over 100 standard houses for widows and the poor in the area.
(4) Built Immaculate Conception International College 1 and 2 , with buses donated to them.
(5) he built a police station for security.
(6) he built a magistrate court.
(7) a standard market called (Afor Market), .
(cool built barracks for the Civil Defense staff,
(9) built two monasteries for churches.
(10) built community centre( Community Hall and his own Village Hall)...
(11) built, post office.
(12) built a state high court.
(13) provided transformers to boost electricity in the community.
(14) built mighty edifices for primary and secondary schools.
(15) built a palace for the monarch, civic centre,.
(16) built houses for clerics of Catholic and Anglican churches, among others.
(17) built Five star hotel known as Lion of Africa resort.

(18) the 15 storey tall building is part of the World class International standard Hospital / Health research institute ( which will serve as the destination of all health matters in Africa, since it will be the biggest and the best of it kind in African soil).

This will serve as shame to the Federal Government and some state Government that cannot pay salaries, because of decline in oil price.

He did all these without the oil money.

And to those Billionaires who buys private jets and allow their people to come beg them two spoon of Rice every morning.

Remember he(Godwin Mmaduka) is not the Richest man in Africa, but he is the richest in Heart.

An overly excited native was quick to state, “today, there is no more thatched house in the community. Maduka has replaced every thatched house in the area with three or four bedroom bungalows.

About 100 of such buildings were rebuilt. They belong to the indigent natives, especially widows. All such buildings carry green roofing aluminium zincs for easy identification.

But he did not stop there; to effectively battle criminality in Umuchukwu, Dr. Maduka has equally not only built four two-storey buildings for police stations, but complemented it with a bungalow as officers’ mess and another structure to serve as operational base for the men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) which he donated to the Nigeria Police. He also built headquarters for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

He has also sponsored hundreds of students from his community and have also helped to get them job. He built Vocational center for those who want to learn handwork.

He vowed to make his community look better than Las Vegas, before he will finally come home to settle.

My prayer is that igbo people should learn from this man and come back to invest, let everyone make his community And state his own Last Vegas.

I also pray that God will bless me like this man and if I did not use it to put smiles on people faces, then he should make me poorest man..

His name is Dr Godwin Mmaduka, MD / CEO Las Vegas

This may be a hard concept for non-Igbo to grasp, but Igbo people practice something called group economics, and this is culturally engrained. Meaning that once one Igbo man gets money, he tried to circulate that money as many times within his own community as many times as possible.

This is how Igbo have been so successful in commercial endeavors. A typical Igbo man knows the power of money and wealth, as such some of his actions may seem alien, but there is much to learn from studying the Igbo.

Igbo marginalization is more so structural, the Igbo get no leg-up from the government, and they have to make their own way. This is demonstrated in the fact that many Igbo millionaires are not affiliated with government.

In regards to Nigeria’s present structure, one would be unwise to categorize what we have as a true “democracy” – true democratic principles are still just taking root. People saying that Igbo will not produce another president are only fooling themselves. If anything, the South East will take the VP position next election if Buhari chooses not to run again.

It all bores down to the ethnic bigotry we re talking about! For me my ppple re the pple living within my immediate society, irrespective of their tribe. We re human beings first b4 tribe. Get that?

You don't understand the concept of GROUP ECONOMICS

It's only Jews and Igbo practise this so well

Don't blame the okada man ....he has his reason

In marketinf we call it appealing to emotions
No wonder innoson motor is as undynamic as a 1930 locomotive.

Other tribes usually only go where the Federal Government has invested. There's a heavy Federal presence in Lagos and Abuja, one being the former capitol and the other being the current capitol. The East has never had any such investment from the Federal Government.

Group economics is not about a region or location. Group economics about a community and a people. The reason it’s rare to see an Igbo beggar is proof of the system.

Take the example above, the Okada Man from the story made a conscious effort to go to another Igbo man in order to keep the money “within the family.” This was done even at the inconvenience of the Okada Man as he had to bypass others.

This model can be replicated in Kano, Abuja, Lagos, or even London. It’s an economic model, this is why Igbo can show up as strangers and within a few short years they have made quite an economic impact. Others should try to copy this model, the Igbo have many such inherent cultural traits that give them a leg up in regards to understanding wealth and money circulation.

little wonder no ibo man features in the list of ten wealthiest Nigerians. Dangote is worlds wealthiest blackman, thanks to thinking beyond ones ethnic group. Innoson motor remains where it is, thanks to group economics.
