Sahara Reporters has obtained information that Minister of Interior Abdulrahman Dambazau was diverting military funds when he was chief of army staff.

Minister Dambazau is a retired Nigerian army Lieutenant General. He served as army chief between 2008 and 2010, succeeding Lieutenant General Luka Yusuf.

However, Buratai denied all allegations.

General Tukur Buratai, the incumbent army boss, was accused of illegal diversion of military funds to purchase two properties in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.


The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has been under pressure to commence investigation into how Tuku Buratai acquired the Dubai mansions.


There had also been calls by Nigerians including Femi Falana, a prominent lawyer, for Buratai to resign or that the president should sack him for acquiring the mansions allegedly worth $1.5 million.
