You can imagine the once celebrated turn around maintenance of kaduna refinery with billions gone yet no show.
Yes, thanks and praises to our NDA brothers

They will keep on syphoning money for repairs of a damn dam but no light even if it's jst 20 mins a day. But let me ask,if all these dams produce electricity where do they supply them to?

Moon?
That is because the dams supply another area, not yours. That is why we need energy mix. Because of rivers and sun, the northern and central part of the country will use hydro and solar while the south and part of the east will use gas while some other part of the East will use coal. That is energy mix

Mambilla will give us roughly 3000 MW, but that is a big boost too -- it takes us to 9-10,000 MW!

We need to review our energy and power laws, and transmission issues though.
transmission is the next big challenge.

Hydro is the cheapest
Not in Nigeria's setting it's not. Constructing a new dam = just channeling gas pipeline and installing the boiler, while the turbines part cost is relatively the same. We have too much gas that we flare most of it.

I guess u were in waiing town when it was recorded that warri, kaduna, and PH refineries are now working simultaneously after many years? But the scavengers scavenging because of Jona's defeat keep blowing up pipelines truncating the benefits of that achievement.

Its already happening, states with alternative energy sources are being encouraged to generate and contribute to the national grid: Katsina Solar 75 MW, Kano Hydro 13 MW, Lagos ?MW; while others are still in the pipeline at planning stage e.g. Jigawa, Solar etc.

If this continues, we will eventually have the required mix and flexibility where no region either by accident or deliberate sabotage (e.g. NDA) can hold the country to ransom.

As of now I recommend that those ND areas deliberately causing the current shortages should not enjoy from these alternative sources; rather they should enjoy the full brunt of their actions - i.e. darkness.

Nah, damage due to negligence, concrete must be broken off from part of the construction.

This is another story in the making. All we've been hearing since APC came into power is stories and propaganda, nothing to show for it.

Inasmuch as the actions of those militants are nefarious & evil, the country has been & still enjoys the much that comes from the region currently. Why would you want the good people in Niger delta who have no business with militancy to be in darkness when the country attains a sustainable energy mix because of the actions of the militants? If everyone should think that way, why is the country rebuilding the north east? Why not let them rot in desolation because of the actions of Boko Haram?? Let us learn to be rational if this country would ever be anything close to working.

let each zone harness what ever sources of energy they have and electricity issues will be history...

Yet the south seriously needs to stop bombing pipelines, no one sets their house on fire to kill rats, if you understand what I mean.

[quote author=Femich18 post=47517546]Alryt we don hear...I hope the MW generated will rise to about 10000 if possible second quarter of next year.[/quote

10,000] MW will only be achievable when you stop blowing up gas pipelines.

Sorry, the ppl of ND have not done anything to show they are not in cahoots with the NDA; they know who they are, where are, and how they operate but are not sharing any intelligence about their activities with the law enforcement agencies; in short they are aiding and abetting the militants - they are as of now therefore also culpable (note the key word being , as of now, meaning temporary).

They are currently holding and serving the rest of Nigeria a lesson on selfishness and non sharing; then why shouldn't they also be the among the first to feel the full brunt of this selfishness; why shouldn't they receive a share of they have been giving Nigerians - i.e. darkness?
Surely. the pickin wey say im mama no go sleep him ma no go sleep.

Did the north do anything to aid the fight against boko haram? Actually prominent people from the north defended and covered for boko haram until it got out of hand. Last I knew no prominent southerner is saying an attack on militants is an attack on the south. Stop playing the hate card, terrorism and militancy are both security problems Nigeria is contending with.

No hate card but simply advocating for parity, tit for tat, you reap what you sow; they don't want to share, we also refuse to share.

What you were referring as defending and covering for Boko Haram was your misinterpretation of the criticism against extra-judicial killings of vast number of innocent ppl lumped together with the insurgents and exterminated involving sackings of swathes of communities in one go, as also evidenced by neutral international observers e.g. Amnesty International (UNHCR) - stop being biased and politically naive.
