NEWLY TRAINED NA FEMALE ARMORED PERSONNEL

WHAT A MAN CAN DO......

The Nigerian Army has come of age, what a man can do, a woman can do even better. This age long saying was made practicable courtesy of Lieutenant General TY Buratai, Chief of Army Staff's believe in equal opportunity and commitment to troops training. Here, three female soldiers of the Nigerian Army Armour Corps took out their Armoured Fighting and Recovery vehicles on combat driving to the admiration of their colleagues at the Old Airport, Gusau, Zamfara State as part of the activities marking this year's Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL).

Snipers can be deadly if they are properly trained and equipped. Apart from the snipers frm the AFSF, order regular snipers should be well equipped and should be posted to every military base in the north east front.

Considering the terrain of the north east BH technicals can be taken out if sighted from 500meters above or less. Snipers are far deadly in the hands of professionals.

TROOPS AMBUSH BOKO HARAM TERRORISTS AND CAPTURE GUN TRUCK

Following reliable information about movement of remnants of suspected Boko Haram terrorists, troops of 118 Task Force Battalion, 7 Brigade, laid an ambush for the terrorists today morning.

The troops laid the ambush about 3 kilometres away from Goneri town, South West of Kukawa Local Government Area, where they encountered the unsuspecting terrorists in 2 gun trucks and on motorcycles and engaged them.

An unconfirmed number of the terrorists escaped with gun shot wounds abandoning 1 Buffalo Land Cruiser gun truck mounted with an Anti-Aircraft gun, 1,600 rounds of 12.7mm Armour Piercing Incendiary (API) ammunitions, 563 rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunition for General Purpose Machine Guns and 57 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition.

The troops further recovered 1 motorcycle, 7 jerry cans of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and Automotive Gasoline Oil (AGO), a pair of Nigerien Army uniform, 2 Cameroonian telecommunication service providers SIM cards, as well as a pair of the Boko Haram terrorists Special Forces uniform.

They also recovered 1 Samsung Galaxy Tablet and assorted drugs and such as Climax Oxytocin, Tetracyclic HC1 Ointment, Drips and Springe, amongst others.

Consolidating on this success, the troops are further exploiting the situation while troops of 157 Task Force Battalion are blocking likely escape routes of remnants of the terrorists in Mile 90, Yoyo, Barwati and Kekeno villages.

Thank you for your usual and kind cooperation.

Ethiopia turns S-75 SAMs into self-propelled systems

A photograph of one of the S-75 launchers mounted on a T-54/55 hull was published by the Somali news website Garowe Online on 19 April to accompany a story about the president of Somalia's Puntland region visiting Ethiopia's Gafat Armament Industry, which is part of the military-run Metals and Engineering Corporation (METEC).

Other photographs showed missiles for the S-75 system at the same industrial complex.

Ethiopia has had S-75 systems since the 1970s, some of which are still deployed at three fixed sites around Addis Ababa, its S-125 (SA-3 'Goa') systems deployed closer to the Eritrean border to defend strategic locations.

Self-propelled S-75 launchers would be far more mobile and quicker to deploy, especially in areas with poor roads, than the original launchers, which have to be loaded on and off dedicated trailers.

The S-75 modification is the most sophisticated work known to have been carried out by the Ethiopian defence industry to date.

The METEC website says Gefat was set up in 1989 and produces a range of basic infantry weapons: the ET/97-1 and Gafat 01 in 7.62x39 mm calibre (presumably AKM-derived assault rifles), an unidentified 7.62x54mm machine gun (probably a PKM copy), the 35 mm ET04/01 automatic grenade launcher (possibly a copy of the Chinese QLZ87), and the 82 mm ET05/01 mortar.

The Homicho Ammunition Engineering Industry produces a range of ammunition for small arms, mortars, artillery, and tanks.

METEC's Bishoftu Automotive Industry carries out maintenance work on the Ethiopia National Defence Forces' (ENDF's) armoured vehicles and also assembles a light armoured vehicle on a commercial chassis. The photographs published by Garowe Online showed the latter looks identical to the Thunder Mk 1 armoured personnel carrier that is made by the Israeli company GAIA Automotive Industries.

The only impressive thing about the video is the body armor worn by the soldiers.

Beside PMB was wearing the rank of a field marshal, looks ridiculous to me.

BORDER PATROL: CAS CALLS FOR SYNERGY BETWEEN NIGERIAN AIR FORCE AND IMMIGRATION

Ahead of the post insurgency period in the Northeast, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Baba Abubakar has called for synergy between the Nigerian Air Force and Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) to enhance the security of the Nation’s border. The CAS made the call while receiving the new Comptroller General of Immigration, Muhammad Babandede to his office in Abuja.

Air Mshl Abubakar stated that the NIS would have more tasks manning the borders to ensure the right persons come in and out of the country, especially through the borders with sister African Countries in the North Easter region, by the time the Boko Haram insurgency is over. Noting that these tasks would require more of the use of technology, Air Mshl Abubakar urged the leadership of the NIS to consider the possibility of employing Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) to ease the onerous task of policing the vast area bordering Nigeria and its sister African Countries. The CAS stated that the NAF is in a position to partner with NIS for its UAV operation since the NAF has successfully designed and produced 5 versions of the GULMA UAV, as well as been able to operationalise them through collaboration with UAVision of Portugal.

Air Mshl Abubakar stated that for lack of funds the NAF is seeking partnership with other agencies of government to fully exploit its technical expertise for the good of the Nation. “We are ready to partner with those who are willing because we have the technology but we do not have the funds”, said the CAS, noting that similar proposal has been extended to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), and now the NIS. The CAS also urged the NIS Boss to look inward into resuscitating its fleet of Do-228 aircraft fleet with a view to resuming joint border patrol with the NAF since there are NAF pilots that are type-rated on the aircraft. Air Mshl Abubakar also urged the NIS to consider collaboration with the NAF in the area of pilot training.
In his response, the Comptroller General NIS, Muhammadu Babandede, stated that the need for NIS and NAF to work together towards achieving national objectives cannot be overemphasised. He expressed the willingness of NIS under his leadership to partner with the NAF in furtherance of national goals. He therefore requested the NAF to assist with the audit of dysfunctional assets, including aircraft and surveillance camera in NIS inventory. “A letter to this effect will be sent to the NAF soon” the NIS Boss said.

TROOPS AMBUSH BOKO HARAM TERRORISTS IN MARGUBA

******WARNING DISTURBING IMAGES**********

In their bid to clear the remnants of Boko Haram terrorists hiding in some parts of the North Eastern of the country, troops have intensified efforts on clearance operations.

It is in this regard that the 29 Brigade Quick Reaction Force (QRF), in conjunction with Civilian JTF carried out an ambush against Boko Haram terrorists east of Marguba village in Kaga Local Government Area, Borno State yesterday Friday.

The troops killed 2 of the Boko Haram terrorists, while some of them sustained gun shot wounds as could be seen from traces of blood during mopping up.

They also recovered 1 AK-47 rifle with 29 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition, a bow and arrows, a Tecno mobile telephone handset, 1 wallet and an Identity Card of Animal Dealers Association, amongst other items.

In a related development, troops along with Civilian JTF have continued clearance operations within Sambisa forest despite harsh climatic conditions and bad terrain occasioned by heavy down rainfalls especially within Gombale area.

Despite bugging down of vehicles and equipment because of the bad terrain, the troops have continued with their clearance operations.
