Any reports of how the G6 fared in Yemen?

I also think the possibility of the G6 seeing actual combat is quite high, however i do not believe the G6 would be completely replaced by this. They'll most likely work in tandem.

The Nigerian army probably also needs to replace it's long range artillery, this system could replace our Oto Melara Palmaria 155mm artillery howitzer.
Difficult to get information when customers from the middle east and North Africa are involved.

It will never replace the Rhinoceros. The G6 is a perfect Bush breaker and can back up as a recovery vehicle at times. grin grin

I'm still trying to get info. The G7 105mm ammunition is highly effective and better than most internationally available 155mm ammo.

i like the way s.africa develops some of its equipment 100% suited to their operational doctrine.

it is like ying and yen grin grin grin

modern operations are of 2 types
1.high intensity operations
2.high mobility operations

many home grown s.african equipment's takes after the latter, same as a duck takes to water. grin grin grin

Algerian Navy received the third C28A Corvette

The third and last C28A Corvette on order for the Algerian Navy has been delivered by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding, a wholly owned subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC, the largest shipbuilding group in China). Algeria signed a contract with China Shipbuilding Trading Co (CSTC) for construction of three C28A corvettes in March 2012.

The first two were delivered respectively on August 15, 2014 and January 26, 2016.

CSTC representatives at DSA 2014 explained to Navy Recognition that the ship would be about 120 meters in length , a breadth of 14.4 meters and a draft of 3.87 meters for a displacement of about 2880 tons.

The three corvettes are fitted with a mix of Chinese and Western systems. The hull mounted sonar will be of Chinese origin, but Algeria has selected Thales Smart-S Mk2 3D air and surface surveillance radar and Kelvin Hughes for the navigation radar .

According to the CSTC representatives, the weapons fit will be of Chinese origin exclusively and will consist in:
- A single barreled 76mm main gun
- 8x C802 anti-ship missiles
- 1x FM90N launcher with 8x surface to air missiles
- 2x Type 730 CIWS located on top of the helicopter hangar

The corvette has some stealth attributes, such as the exhaust gases funnels located right on the water line on the sides of the hull in order to reduce its IR signature.

According to China state media, the class has set several news records in tonnage, fire and combat capability for exported Chinese military ships. These advances reflect the maturation of China's shipbuilding industry, including electronic weapons system capabilities that have reached international levels. From all appearances, the successful construction of this latest frigate is only the beginning of China's expanded influence in military ship trade around the world

The information given by the diagram to me is even not complete, what about hundreds of klashinnikov riffles, pistols, an APC captured from the video I personally watched etc. But there is something I want to clarify here 99% of weapons and ammunition captured belong to niger army!

First off, there is nothing like an Islamic state group in West-Africa, we only have Boko-Haram. I don't quite get this sudden love by some commentators to link Boko-Haram with ISIS when there clearly is no history of cooperation or any cooperation at all between the two groups.

The Bosso attack is most unfortunate, Nigerian troops stationed at different outposts should get ready for an increased fighting season as soon as the dry season sets in.

The Italians have a short range civilian acoustic radar using mikes.

I know the Russkies had one over a decade ago-the stealth idea is now kaput!!

Senegalese Mi-35P upgraded with Israeli EO system

At least one of Senegal's two Mi-35P assault helicopters is now fitted with the Controp DSP-HD electro-optical system, it has been revealed.

The Israeli company released a photograph showing the helicopter on 31 May to accompany a press release announcing that it had been awarded several contracts to upgrade helicopters with the DSP-HD. It did not identify any of the customers or the operator of the Mi-35P, but said the upgrades included a United Nations Mi-17, a Mi-24, a Bell 407, and a Eurocopter EC-145 (now Airbus H145).

The DSP-HD combines a high-definition day camera, a daylight spotter channel, and a laser range finder or optional laser pointer. The daylight spotter channel can be swapped for a long-range shortwave infrared (SWIR) camera.

The Controp statement quoted its CEO as saying the company won the orders due to its "unmatched price/performance ratio".
