FAQ

1.Several questions have been asked on the number of hours it will last for. Yeah, it's a nice question. Here we are using a battery of 40Ah. So the calculation goes thus.

Backup hours= 12V X 40Ah / Load
For example/let's intend using it to power 4 energy saving fluorescent rated 20W in my house, shop, office, personal library or warehouse .Load= 20W X 4 =80W.
12V X 40 Ah/ 80W = 6 Hours. It means it will last for 6 hours long.

2.what are the challenges of the Setup?
(a)
someone brought my attention to this. Am really grateful @Wagasigiungu . This thread is beyond me selling , it's meant to serve as medium of we developing power backups systems without much cost. Not to digress, The UPS style requires you are watchful of combination of appliances plugged together cos it makes the wires hot even though it wouldn't melt. For example, plugging box TV , standing fan and other gadgets . The fan there draws power alot. Flat screen TVs are the best cos they don't pose much hassle.

(b) challenge.

Appliances that have surge have to be plugged before putting it on. For example, if a box TV is plugged while it's ON it trips off immediately but will come up if you put it off and on again.
Also it makes humming noise when rechargeable lamps are plugged ( No side effects anyway )

(c)
Setup materials are scarce . That's all.
PLEASE NOTE
This is a power backup. We should try as much as possible to use energy saving appliances so that you enjoy it for long hours.

3. What if I can't get the charger, You are still good to go! because the UPS can also charge it but it will be slower compared to the charger designed by the manufacturer. it's even nice because the UPS regulates the charging .

Morning to you all! As earlier promised that I will discuss the other methods of using this battery. The first one discussed, which is above is the UPS method. An alternative to this method is using car inverter which if well connected , it works fine. It supplies and powers our appliances well. Someone asked a question concerning thermal printer. it can also be powered with the UPS method. The following are the other ways of using it.
2. CCTV camera system and alarms using a 12V DC distribution panel
3. DC water pumps ( sprinkler systems). it can be used in aquarium.
4. Rechargeable fans and lamps that you think are condemned. So far the battery power is a 12V battery, you are good to go. ( it also extends the hours of usage - so don't throw away your rechargeable fans it works perfectly with them. Also if we can get those with USB ports, it becomes a double advantage to power our USB enabled devices. Also there's a ceiling fan that can be powered by this although it's not very much around.
5. Power saving security and living lights
6. laptop and printer power bank.
Also it can be connected to Solar panels to be charged.

And the Anderson cable -1500 or less because it's a little bit. scarce.

It's 12K sir. The Anderson is not compulsory if you can get something else .it's up to you but its safer from short circuit and anybody can connect besides you with Anderson and you can easily move and use your setup anywhere.

Once your rechargeable lamp works with a 12V battery, it will work perfectly with lasting longer hours with bright light. You just have to bring out the wires connected to the internal 12V BATTERY and attach your anderson cable and connect directly to the battery. Don't try with lamps that use battery less than 12V cos the capacitor will go hot and might end up bursting.

back to your questions.
From my experience so far, when it's battery is almost down, there's a way my fluorescent light connected to it does and also the UPS has a certain sound it makes which is not the one that comes from its ALARM. Also if you so wish, you can install indicators that will show the battery % everytime you connect it to the battery.
2. The charger turns GREEN from the RED colour it shows while still charging
3.You calculate the power rating of your appliances connected and use the calculation previously written Sir. Also there's an indicator that also does this.

I really need to address the issue of FANS with this UPS setup style.
We have different kinds of FANS around which are :
Ceiling , wall, table top and standing fans. The first which is ceiling cannot work with this setup cos it is connected to the mains and the Setup cannot be connected to the mains .
Next is the wall, it's about 55W which makes it okay for the setup, table top fans which are which are energy SAVING also work well,when it comes to standing fans, Hmmm! there are different types around. The least Watts rating have seen for them is 70W moreover it consumes alot and makes the wires HOT which is not too good ( you can check the combination style above where I talked about the pros and cons). The Ox versions are out if it...If your main aim is to use fan, get energy saving ( with low power consumption) or opt for the off grid inverter style. which also works well with the battery. Thanks
