Hello Jumzite!
The first thing that I will suggest is that you should always apply interlining (soft or hard gumstay or airstay) to the neckline whether you are using facing or lining, it makes it relax and it brings out the shape of the neckline beautifully.

Take note,
If your fabric is soft eg satin, silk chiffon etc use soft gumstay or airstay.
If your fabric is not soft eg Ankara, linen etc, use hard stay.
Lastly, if your fabric is thick like denim use soft gumstay or airstay to avoid it being too bulky.
Try that and let me know if the problem persist.

Both pattern drafting and free hand are good it all depends on what you want to make. Pls learn both. Free hand is good when you want to do a fast simple work while pattern is good when you need perfection your cutting will be so nice that you don't need to be trimmed ng excess off when sewing like those tailors do.
With pattern drafting you can correct your mistake before cutting the fabric, also pattern drafting help to manage fabric in some cases. Also you can try out new or complicated styles on paper instead of wasting fabric doing trial nd error. Each one has its advantage.

When cutting free hand i use 2 inches to do the curve of the crotch for the front and 4 inches for the curve of the back. Try that.

Dear, the book is good for a beginner and complete novice who has an idea of how to sew cos this book handles the cutting aspect of fashion. You will still need help in the aspect of sewing. You can Learn Male tailoring at Valisimo Fashion school. Make your research pls, can't really recommend cos I don't know much about the school.

The issue I had then was transferring your measurements to your pattern, fortunately for me , marylandcakes did a tutorial on that and it is very clear to me. My challenge now are the sleeves, so I'm still waiting, but if you can help I will be grateful. Thanks

D red line is d center of these pattern means d center of d sleeve, wen drafting should be on a folded fabric.

Measurement:
Bicep
Length of d sleeve

Manage my pic nd explanation

If u want your sleeve to puff vry well u can use more then 3 inches as seen in d diagram.
Frm d cap to were d bicep is shld b 9 for an average person.
