people keep saying find something doing ",and when you ask them like what, they reply "anything", this is the most annoying of them all, anything like what?, hawking?, isn't that the suffering you were avoiding by going to school in the first place?

So after graduating from the university about a year ago i have'nt got a job. I know most of you will say (just one year and you are complaining.) Well it does'nt matter.

All that matters is that one is without a job and it is extremely annoying and life is boring.
You see adverts everywhere of job openings and you wonder if there are just for show or if people are really getting these jobs.
Once or twice you see a testimony on nairaland that someone just got a job and you begin to pray for your own.
You wait and wait for a miracle because now your degree does not matter again. If you don't have somebody somewhere, 'na only miracle you go hope on.

After going through school, burning mid night candles, going for lectures, doing stupid assignments that lecturers never read and struggling to see that your name is on flimsy attendance cheat for ten marks, what do you get?
Answer - A long stay in your fathers house, waiting for when somebody will visit and dash you money. Because your parents do not have your time again.
Most times, you might even here comments like" abeg do go marry" or better still "you no get boyfriend?".
Sometimes you begin to wonder what went wrong but in the end, what can one do but hope for a miracle.

Life is hard o. Especially if you are unemployed and a girl in naija.

Also consider Marriage especially with someone in whom u can find happiness.
Marriage is also a form of employment.

Lol. Never heard that before. ''Marriage is a form of employment'' What a way to think. Jeez.

I tire, I came on this forum one time and asked a business I can start with 200k that will atleast fetch me a good daily income so I can be able to pay back the loan within 6 months. Atleast after paying rent, tax, that I can be able to save, all I kept getting were look for something.something is nothing. It's easier said than done, some even suggested I go and learn hair making and open a Salon, as if women are only good with tailoring and hair making, instead of suggesting a business for me

Hmmmm...I have heard people say start small, get a vocation and learn something bla bla bla. They are all nice and beautiful advice though but it's not that some persons do not know all these, that small capital to start up is not there. Getting a vocation or learning a trade too requires some money because nobody will teach you for free except if it's a program organised by government. I will advice Nigerian govt to see into empowering outgoing corpers by giving them a token(even if it is 50k as start up for those that learn trade while serving). This will go a long way even though not all will use it properly but I believe some persons will utilise it and hence reduce graduate unemployment.

see i have been without a steady job since january, until last week when i joined helping hands international. I read the rule that says 'do not promote shady businesses like mlms but the thing is helping hands is not shady at all, i don't know about other MLMs O.
Just last week i got sixteen dollars, my sister registered two weeks ago and she has made up to fifty dollars she is now in stage 2 and at the end of stage 2 she is going to get a laptop computer or an ipad. We are all here for ourselves to be of help in any little or major way we can. Look it up on google helping hands international but if want to register, register under me you stand to gain a lot as per downlines. 08020835174

Most of the unemployed people commenting here are looking for start up capital.

You all go to church or religious centers I presume, have you offered coaching sessions for either nursery or primary or Jamb students in your religious centers?
Have you offered to clean anyone's house twice a month or a week?
Have you gone to banks or offices to offer to bring food or fruits for sale to them?
Have you tried meeting working women and offering to help them buy foodstuffs in exchange for a fee?
What of washing cars in an estate.
And a job as a driver?
Or teaching piano, guitar or musical instrument to kids. Your potential clients can be from your place of worship.
Not every start up business requires much capital, just the willingness to venture into it.

The first step to unemployment is thinking outside the box and getting off your high horse.it doesn't mean you'll remain in that position for long. But how do you expect to grow if you don't make a move?

hmmmm...You can do the following rather than stay home idle:
1.Home lesson: even if its primary school!
2.Learn a trade e.g. sowing, hear dressing and fixing, beads and bag making( lemme tell you, ladies and fashion are 5&6, so market go always dey if you know your onions)
3. Carry placards(you may never know)
..my point is there are lot of things you can do rather than staying home idle doing nothing! before we begin to see, stories like " Joblessness drove me into prostitution, Buhari to blame"

And when you've learnt all there is to learn and have no capital to start...what happens?

Money is required for money to be made. Many people have skills, several skills in fact but can't put it to use.

That is China not Nigeria.Have you make your assessment in that country before making this suggestion? They have constant electricity supply, good roads and moderate tax.Back here the same Chinese who run businesses her are closing shops due to epileptic power supply, multiple taxation and unfair working environment. So you see the difference?

Sometimes, when you look at the years and effort you spent in the university to earn a lucrative job.You will disregard some of the menial job where the salaries ranges between #15 to #20k.Especially in this change government where nothing is working. Is it the fg lucrative jobs where they are recruiting children of politicians and sacking children of the average people or the mass sacking in the private sectors you are talking about?

The major problem with we Nigerians is that we lack the will to start small, we aspire more than the present economy instability in the country... There are so many job opportunities out there but the monthly income is just too small... I'll advice this young woman to just start doing something, a strange door may lead to a new way... Get busy and be happy... Go out early no matter your monthly income
