no matter the business people will tell you, I bet you , you won't apply. If you are still in need of business, you can go into food business like breakfast meals or dinner meals. You can buy phones (unique) used phones and re-sell (post it on classifieds). Your 200k investment is a street kind of investment so u must be ready to be on the street.
thanks

I have a brother in this same situation,God is your strength....

Marketing is the easiest job to get.

Many Graduates hate marketing jobs but unfortunately more companies are drifting towards paying commissions rather than fixed salary.

In essence, if you hate marketing then be prepared to be jobless for a long time except you are fortunate to get a job you can lose tomorrow.

Money is required for money to be made. Many people have skills, several skills in fact but can't put it to use.
I have graduated in a lot of trades.I have done cctv installations, laptop repairs, gsm repairs trainings 6 to 8 years ago.Up till now,i don't have capital and good location to setup my own business. The cctv thing is worst. My boss will use his personal money to buy the cctv cameras, dvr and other equipment that is required to carryout installation works for banks and hotels. Before he will be paid will take like 2 to 3 months. He will even be begging to be paid sef.It is not easy bro.

You know what I detest about a lot of Nigerians? Many of you are just too judgemental. Many of you lack compassion and empathy. It must be the hostile Nigerian environment. First of all, is the OP going to attend skill acquisition for free? Does it not cost money to learn 'hand work'? Even the girl that you know makes chin-chin and supplies to primary and secondary schools, she must have had someone that spoke to the headmistress/headmaster and/or principal on her behalf to allow her supply chin-chin to the students and staff. Why do you talk as if you don't know how things work in Nigeria? Okay, even if the OP wants to start selling meat pie, chin-chin and the likes, it takes money to learn to how to make these things. Are you going to sponsor her?

When it comes to teaching, did the OP tell you she found a teaching job and refused it? Even teaching jobs are becoming hard to find. Many of you are talking about starting a business. Do they teach entrepreneurial skills in Nigerian secondary schools and universities? Do you know how quickly a business will fail if the business owner has no idea what he or she is doing? Do you think everyone is passionate about running their own business?

Funnily enough, the children of Nigeria's ruling elite (politicians) are landing white collar jobs in CBN and customs and IRS while children of the poor and middle class are told after years of studying their eyes out to go and farm so that females will be raped on their farms by marauding Fulani herdsmen. After years of studying, you are telling people to go farm like you are going to provide the plot of land used for farming.

Nigeria's business environment is not even favorable. Ask foreign investors, many who are leaving Nigeria for other countries. A country like Nigeria that cannot even provide stable electricity, small business loans with low interest rates and a conducive environment for businesses to thrive. Abeg!

This is exactly what people do not understand. I have actually moved about. I didnt just sit down at home. I even applied for teaching jobs but to no avail.
I also have ideas of businesses i want to start but getting capital is the problem. People can give advice when they are not in ones' shoes.

hmmmm...You can do the following rather than stay home idle:
1.Home lesson: even if its primary school!
2.Learn a trade e.g. sowing, hear dressing and fixing, beads and bag making( lemme tell you, ladies and fashion are 5&6, so market go always dey if you know your onions)
3. Carry placards(you may never know)
..my point is there are lot of things you can do rather than staying home idle doing nothing! before we begin to see, stories like " Joblessness drove me into prostitution, Buhari to blame"
Yea this is through... There are a lot of things to do... I think we should leave the advent of tropical white jobs to begin creating employment ... The thought of going back to parents house is very wrong, hence we should seek way to be resourceful.

What are you saying ? so you are telling me u don't need anything to start a business ?

Do u know how hard it is for some people to raise even 10k ?

Do u know the psychological trauma some jobless graduates are facing ?

Starting a business requires a lot "that is wat am saying

You need to Try ,Try Try and keeping Trying

Patient and persistence

So u just don't tell someone to start a business like u say "Go and brush your teeth"

If u had said "Go look for a job(no matter how small the pay is) , Try save up a little ,read entrepreneurial books ,talk to experienced entrepreneurs and start a business (no matter the size).

You uld have made a whole lot of sense to me

So after graduating from the university about a year ago i have'nt got a job. I know most of you will say (just one year and you are complaining.) Well it does'nt matter.

All that matters is that one is without a job and it is extremely annoying and life is boring.
You see adverts everywhere of job openings and you wonder if there are just for show or if people are really getting these jobs.
Once or twice you see a testimony on nairaland that someone just got a job and you begin to pray for your own.
You wait and wait for a miracle because now your degree does not matter again. If you don't have somebody somewhere, 'na only miracle you go hope on.

After going through school, burning mid night candles, going for lectures, doing stupid assignments that lecturers never read and struggling to see that your name is on flimsy attendance cheat for ten marks, what do you get?
Answer - A long stay in your fathers house, waiting for when somebody will visit and dash you money. Because your parents do not have your time again.
Most times, you might even here comments like" abeg do go marry" or better still "you no get boyfriend?".
Sometimes you begin to wonder what went wrong but in the end, what can one do but hope for a miracle.

Life is hard o. Especially if you are unemployed and a girl in naija.

Being unemployed after your nysc is really a choice... your choices during nysc determines your placements after nysc... I am still planning on how i can do a complete writeup on my nysc experience.. That is one of my most memorable experiences.... Please, don't look at situations as problems alone, try and look at the hidden opportunities in those situations

Seriously I feel the pain of the Op, I am also in her shoes hoping and praying for God's one time job opportunity. I accept d blame for my own predicament, as I never for once planned life after NYSC while serving-a mistake I still curse daily. On the other hand I am a graduate of sociology, and I wouldn't mind any job right now, no matter how little the pay is, starting somewhere is d secret key I lacked but now my eyes dun clear based on most people's comments. Any P.A, Voluntary work, A writer or Admin work ll b welcome from anybody who can be of help. But I believe, no matter how hard Nigeria may seem, d top ll never elude me. God bless our hustle.

Its quite easy for us to judge.. we re certainly not in her shoes.!! But being unemployed today is not the end of the world. Even though FG doesn't provide you with the enabling environment. Just keep trying, don't give up. Believe me,. You will make it. It only takes time.

Lol...you don't get it. do you? Okay lemme rephrase, "people are looking for small capital to make money from their skills".

A sewing trainee needs just one machine
A bead making trainee needs just a few equipment
Bag Making
Baking
Photography
Electronic repairs etc

Some are lucky to have parents that can make it work, others are on their own, clueless with no one to help. So when a person complains, cut them some slack.

The way this life is going only God can help us all, after so many struggles in school, we still have to face 10times of it in the real world. What's the essence of knowledge when you don't get a chance to apply it. Some people engage in vocational training and in 5 years they're doing great, compare to someone who spent 4-6 years in school and you're back to square one. May God help US. Don't know what's waiting for me out there after school.
