What's road got t o do with debt? You people just spin rubbish to absurdities...

For 16 long years, you can not list at least 5 major projects or even any visionary project in the whole of Anambra so of what relevance is you having debt or not when in fact you've wasted 16 years and achieved nothing...?

It's called penny wise pounds foolish..

Great Nations and societies grow and progress with debt so saying you are debt free while having nothing to show on the ground is incompetence and not a bade of honor..
Ouch. Were you literally crying when you saw that anambra debt was that low or are you tried of ridiculing obiano. Anyway i can feel your pains from a thousand mile take heart and don't die young.

You seem to be a banker or someone who wallows in debt as a way of measuring progress. My friend, you're wrong.

Let me list achievements in Anambra in the last 8 years for your amazement.
1. Building of magnificent world class state Secretariat
2. Building of Onitsha to Enugu high way phase 1 that stopped at umunya.
3. Building of international building material market at OGIDI.
4. Construction of mmiata Anam -umueze-umudiora roads with bridges intermittent
5. Building of ultra modern new odumegwu ojukwu world class teaching hospital at amaku Awka
6. Employment of over 15000 new work force.

I can go on and on but when last did you hear of kidnapping in Anambra state? Doesn't that show you that it is rated the most secured state to do business in Nigeria?

My friend, please which state are you from cos you're showing serious hatred towards Anambra. Anyway, we set the pace in Nigeria.

Anambra is blessed!

Go back and modify... Whatever you say about my land, Yoruba land is not inhospitable ,3/4 of us aren't running from it.... Yorubaland does not truncate progress, people grow and thrive , hence the Exodus from uguland into SW......

It's [s]highly likely that if 70% of your people stayed in their sahara, aren't running away from your barren land, increasing exponentially the population of SW states , stretching their facilities so thin, the debt profile wouldn't be high.... SW is carrying it's own and your own dead weight as well.... You don't go to hospitals and schools? Don't ply the road? You are less than smart.

No, SW isn't a waste, Waste is where people flee from and we both know which of the two fits..[/s]
Blablabla Osun debt only surpasses about 3 states in SE combined. Stop celebrating failure. What are yoruba doing in London if Nigeria is not a waste land. The igbos are taking the opportunities your people didn't see and reparating it home to alaigbo

Anambra is a construction site. While many states were busy begging for bailout, Obaino was busy building 2 flyovers, world class malls, roads, paying salaries, employing 15000 workers, exporting vegetables, commissioning projects and saving.

I u invite to Anambra, the light of the nation.

Comparative Analysis by Regions

SE= 180.6 (7.2%)
SW= 565.8 (22.6%)
SS= 868.4 (35%)
NE= 212.6 (8.5%)
NW= 270.3 (10.8%)
NC= 272.3 (10.9%)

Note: FCT was excluded

Verdict: the SE is the best in fiscal management. Their GDP can comfortably service the debt without much strain on their economy.

The SW has a large GDP capable of servicing the debt, but they should expect some strain on the economy, which if properly managed will not adversely affect their economy. With the number of professionals in the region, this will not be a problem. It would av been better if buck of those debt were expended on capital project.

The SS have succeeded in mortgaging the future of their generation. With an economy entirely dependent on the volatile oil market, and a workforce dependent on other regions (SE and SS) for skilled and semi skilled labour, and with an informal sector operated by other regions especially the SE, am afraid the debts aint sustainable. I pity for their unborn generation.

The NC, NE and NW were moderate with their debts because of their low GDP. Higher debt would have been an economic suicide for regions that had known nothing but poverty, security crisis. Inspite of their low debts, the SS possesses mch potential than the 3 regions joined together.

Kayfra, what do you think?

Please stop with the saving money nonsense and lies.

Anambra did not save anything and in fact, Anamabra is in debt and even obiano just collected N10 billion loan.

Why borrow N10 billion if you have money saved?

Abi this is not the same obiano who claimed Obi did not leave any money behind for him? Do you want me to pull up facts for you?

Saving money and still have nothing to show is idiocy, incompetence and lack of intelligence

Of what relevance is your saved money if at the end of you still have nothing to show for whatever you claimed you saved?

Show us any meaningful projects or infrastructure started and commissioned in Anambra since 1999. Don't bother to show me anything because you can not as there is nothing to show.

Stop celebrating incompetence lack of ideas and vision.

The same lack of ideas and vision is the reason why that whole region since 1999 have nothing to show for taxes and allocations and even debt collected.

The same lack of ideas, vision and incompetence is the reason why the entire leadership in that region can not do anything like collectively building the 2nd NB and have to beg the FG like they've been doing for 30 years, they beg for airport and everything under the sun while other states and region are building their own bridges, airports and so on..

Btw, please stop the saving money nonsense about Anambra saving money, inf act, Anambra owes and is in debt just like the rest of the country, the saddest part is the fact that they have nothing to show for the debt.

Am always impressed with ur analysis. U are an intelligent fellow.

Many states have no business being a state. Let just revert to regionalism, where the ethnic groups identified by language similarities form the federating units. Let the Hausa/fulanis, Kanuris, Tiv, Igala, Idoma, Yorubas, Igbos, Ijaws, Efik, Isokos, Urhrobos, Ïtsekiris, Annags, Ibibios, Ogonis, kalabaris form the federating units. To deal with the issue of majority and minority dichotomy, the total number of votes u pulled in an election does not matter, but rather the person that wins the largest number of regions. For instance, if an Igboman wins in the SE with 1billion votes and one Alhaji wins NW (Hausa/Fulani) with just 10 votes, both are counted as just one vote. The NASS will have just 1 chamber (unicameralism) where each region no matter the population will send equally number of parliamentarians while the Regional Parliaments having 2 chambers.

The regions can be divided into provinces governed by an elected Mayor.

I luv a country where majority and minority dichotomy is withered away. This country was systematically skewed to promote flawlessly that dichotomy. A dichotomy that had over the years favour an unproductive section of the country. The funniest thing is that, that section had produced the largest number of Heads of State, looted the highest amount from the treasury, boast of the largest population (largest market) yet wallows in poverty. I think it is time we implement this model or related model and separate the swimmers from the sailors. Believe me, the swimmers will learn to become sailors by force.

Aren't u tired of the type of federation we operate.

The case of delta is one that's very pathetic. People like Udiaghan simply were governor only in name, compared to Ibori, his 8 year rule was a complete and regrettable waste. The truth is, if these scumbags have been granted the right to control our resources, they would have been contesting for enlistment in the list of the world most richest men. Delta state today is one of the most richest but under developed state in the country. Its like God has forgotten the state, and it appears even Satan has equally rejected it.

Very pathetic.

My man I do not like the type of federalism we currently practice. I call it a feeding bottle government that lends itself to over dependence on a single product. It's way too unproductive and expensive to run. What business do we have running 36 states for crying out loud. How many of those states are viable? It's ridiculous.

I prefer a weakened central government and provinces across the country that represents natural divisions. But at the same time each Nigerian has the freedom of movement to any of this administrative units. And one thing I'd get rid off is the stupid state of origin that is totally meaningless for all practical purposes. So your ancestors settled in an area! So what? A lot of Nigerians can't relate with their so called state of origin. How does that useless demographic help for anything?

Anyways back to the structure. Our current revenue sharing formula is stifling innovation. We've now only been forced to look inwards coz our darling oil is in the toilet. What if each state truly fends for itself? Would we have tons of civil servants on government payroll? Would the likes of Osun state not have found a way to commercially mine Gold or Ebonyi mine Zinc, copper etc?

I hate our structure with a passion. But we need to remain one country with the goal of regionalism in our immediate and intermediate future.

Last time we witnessed real development was under a regional structure. So it shouldn't be a hard sell for any Nigerian that means well.
