In what looks like a mockery of
the present administration of
Muhammadu Buhari which
brought untold hardship to
many Nigerians, ex-President
Goodluck Jonathan has come
out to reply his one time critic,
Mohammed DeeDee that he
did not commit any sin against
him when he was president.
Mohammed DeeDee, a
supporter of Buhari and card
carrying member of the APC,
had recently asked former
President, Goodluck Jonathan
for forgiveness over a
statement he made when Naira
fell to 180 per dollar at the
official market in 2014.
In 2016, under President
Muhammadu Buhari, the naira
has fallen to 305 per dollar at
the parallel market and almost
500 at the black market rate.
The currency is around 615 to
a pound compared to 280
about two years during
Goodluck Jonathan-led
Peoples Democratic party
government.
Mohammed in a tweet said
GEJ should please forgive
him.
“GEJ Should please forgive
me,” he said.
In a swift response from Ben
Murray Bruce on Thursday
through his Facebook page,
senator representing Bayelsa
community and Jonathan’s
close ally said the former
president has forgiven
Mohammed when he
discussed him with on phone.
But when Nigerians thought
the matter is settled through
Sen. Ben’s response, former
President Goodluck Jonathan
on Friday made his first
reaction on the issue and said
there’s no need for
forgiveness because
Mohammed DeeDee did not
commit any sin against him
but was performing a patriotic
duty.
The former president had also
shared DeeDee’s post on his
Facebook page, in what many
considered as a mockery of
President Buhari’s current
dollar rate of N500 as against
Jonathan’s N180.
“There is no need for
forgiveness because you did
not commit any sin against
me.
“I never felt offended or held a
grudge.
“Mohammad, please do not
feel bad. You did what you did
as your patriotic duty.
“A true leader must appreciate
his critics. Sometimes they tell
him the truth more than
friends.
“I appreciate you. God bless
you Mohammad,” the former
president said.
Nigerian naira on Monday
crumbled to 500 per dollar
before bouncing back to 498
at the parallel market sending
significant shock to
businesses as analysts
predicted a sharp depreciation
on the currency.
The currency had continued to
fall since the beginning of the
year as experts see the
currency hitting over 520 to
the dollar this year.
It is also trading 615 and 525
to the pound and euro
respectively at the back market
segment.
At the highly pegged official
market, the currency remain
unchanged at 305 to a dollar.

GEJ came 20yrs ahead of his time in Nigeria politics, if it's Buhari, DSS would have raided his house by 2 a.m.
