I write this with tears in my eyes only if people understand how important this is. This is one way to alleviate poverty. El rufai, the earth will not be enough to contain your blessing. This is a pragmatic leader with a vision.

In 20 years, kaduna people will continue to appreciate you. Accessibility to education is extremely important and should be available to all

oh Mr. Femi where in the North did you stay? Is it a representation of the entire North? I've also lived in Lagos. Places like makoko, somolu, ajegunle etc do not seem like places where educated people reside. Poor sanitation and all. But I will only be up to some mischief to judge the entire South West using those places as yardstick. That's exactly what you are doing. That's what you guys do the entire time on nairaland. And that's why I question the quality and standard of Education in the South.
Hopefully Mr. Femi gets my point wink
Sure I did but during most of my stay there I stayed in sokoto, Minna, KD and Lokoja in Kogi state. That of Lokoja even baffled me more cos I served there and I can tell you authoritatively dt some students close around 12, and on market days our school is usually close down or with less than 20% students in school. The market is Lokoja International market. I won't like to mention the name of the school here.
I'm not saying Northerners don't read but many of them still lack that Zeal for education

Governor El-Rufai's Compulsory Education Policy in Kaduna State is a Welcome development. This is the way to go, in order to reduce the incidence of child abuse through begging for living or child hawing for survival. This way Kaduna State will not become educationally disadvantaged. I hope other states will follow suit. Kudos to Gov.El-Rufai.

abi o.

Generally, schools in the north are cheap. and I remember GEJ building almajiri schools there, still, they refuse to go to school.

Arabic school is more important to them. blame the religion thier elites use to control them.

Re: Free Compulsory Education Begins In Kaduna by repogirl(f): 10:57am On Aug 06, 2016
This is really good.

But they should be given good all-round education, not one sided, biased, fake 'one Nigiriya', 97%vs 5% education.

More governors need to emulate this move by the El Russau.

But I think Northern Schools na free before grin grin grin
Them no wan go school
Yes but d difference now is that it is compulsory as well. Compulsory in the sense that parents who fail to comply will face disciplinary action like fine or imposition of tax to the non compliant ones. If u have a child and u don't want to send him to school, that child is a potential liability and as such u should pay tax. This is the approach adopted by the Late Obafemi Awolowo of blessed memory in the Western Region then which accounts for the high number of the highly educated Westerners.

Must they alz wait on government for everything? Free food, free water, free pilgrimage, free electricity, free allowances, now free education... I'm not against free things for them, my question here is , which one do they want to do for themselves?
Yes, that is what govt is all about (provision of social amenities) especially in developing countries like ours and at least the people know what their money is being used for. What is ur governor doing with the state money apart from paying salaries and keeping the rest in personal account and later turn around to blame the federal government for lack of development.
