Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, has warned Nigerians to be careful what they say about his promise of better power supply during his emergence as Minister.
He denied making promises of better power supply, stating that it’s unlike him to make promises on things he has no control over.
Speaking with Channels television, the Minister said “Let us be careful when you claim that I made promises because I am ever so conscious of the things that I say and I believe that if I recollect correctly, it was when I was unveiling my ministries, probably sometime late December last year.
“It is unlike me to make promises on things I don’t control. If you check the words I used, I shared with you our plans if it worked and where we will be.”
He further noted that his plans did not consider vandalization of pipelines because he was always focused on power generation.
“Those promises don’t factor in vandalisation. You know when they teach you how to generate power in school; they don’t teach you how to deal with vandalisation. When they teach you how to do banking, they don’t teach you about round-tripping so those are the assumptions that things would remain normal.
“There is no nation in the world that wants electricity that vandalizes the assets that produce electricity; it doesn’t make any sense.
“I can control what my team does, I can promise you what my team efforts will produce but I can’t control behaviour that is counterproductive. Those pipelines are national assets; they were built with our common wealth, the people whose territories it passes are custodians of it.
“Let us assume that the people who are also custodians of Jebba, Kainji and Shiroro dams go to break them down because they are angry, then who gets power?” Fashola quizzed.

So what exactly does he mean when he said it's only an irresponsible government that won't be able to provide power for its citizens? Not literally though...

So what actually did they promised Nigerians?

Buhari only confirmed this by telling the world it is difficult to fulfill his promises.

What actually can they do? Let them speak up than the raise the bp of the hungry citizens.

A= Another

P= Problem

C= Confirmed!

And the problem is that, they can't even remember the promises they made while campaigning, how can they fulfill the promises they've probably forgotten they ever made

Since PDP failed us and APC is still failing us, let us vote for KOWA come 2019. There's no harm in trying another party, we might just be lucky.

How the hell did we even get ourselves in this kind of mess called APC?
I strongly believe Nigerians were bewitched for them to vote in this party.
How can a sane person make this kind of statement after criticizing the previous government?
Abraham!
So why the hell did you accept to be the minister? Why don't you resign and let someone who can guarantee power improvement take over?
Chai... Nigeria is indeed in a deep mess with this party.

Fashola thought that Nigeria is Lagos state. I pity him because everyday Nigerian are getting wiser and educated to knw what is happening around them. Been in opposition does not means that u shld criticize everything d govt in power is doing, sometimes a little advise and congratulation will do. But in APC, they oppose and attack every intention of d then PDP government, now that they are there, people shld not remind them of their promises. Bunch of confuse people.

Fashola is giving us sob story.

He didn't have any plans to tackle vandalism but he is expecting results even when his predecessor gave him the advice publicly.

They already told them what to expect. The plants were already in place since Obasanjo's administration. The gas pipelines were already laid by Jonathan. More than 5000km additional transmission grid was already being constructed by Jonathan.

What exactly do Buhari and Fashola plan to add to these systems and infrastructure?

Nothing, it seems. Absolutely nothing. Just to come and sit down and wish vandals away. Wish away all the challenges that have been identified by others and then turn around and blame everything/everyone except themselves?

Listen, these sob stories should stop. If you are overwhelmed by the duties of your office, let us know.

Obasanjo met a power sector with aged infrastructure, policies and systems, he revamped the policies and set off with the NIPPs projects across the country. Yaradua came and sat on them giving bogus excuses about the costs and wasted so much time on phantom probes.

Jonathan took over from there, he clearly identified the challenges of gas to power and promptly fixed it. Gas pipelines were laid. No excuse, to tales. No time.

But then, vandals came all the same. He attempted to solve it by giving surveillance and monitoring deals to locals. That solution was roundly condemned by you people and was immediately canceled when you came.

Now, provide an alternative so we can see you are better than him, but no, it is one long English story we are hearing.

Hey Mr. Man, no one in life plans for adversity, But they do come. No government plans for challenges. But government anticipates rough situation and make provisions for possible solutions. That's why they are called vicissitudes. It's irresponsible to make excuses for challenges in government. Even if you are not in charge of security and protection of those pipelines directly, it is still irresponsible of you to attempt to exonerate yourself as you are doing.

What are doing about the vandals now that you know they are the cause of your non-performance? Or have you totally surrendered?

Would a central bank governor or any bank CEO tell customers that the safety of their money is not guaranteed because they can't control round tripping? Or what is the example for?

APC and flip flops are like six and half a dozen.
All promises during the campaigns are being denied blatantly. No policy achieved successfully. Economy nko? Four hundred Naira equals One Dollar!
Power/electricity equals total black out/darkness.
Corruption nko? Has one corrupt person been found guilty and jailed? All we hear is they have returned money,but when we ask how much has been returned so far? APC will enter voice mail. Burantai the master saver dey one corner dey use Nigeria army money dey purchase hotel for Dubai,what of Dambazzau and now Dogara?
APC naa waoooo!
Change indeed....
