Jonathan had surpluss of revenue from oil boom which he and his peers looted while in office but lack public trust and integrity. Buhari on the other hand has deficit of revenue from the oil price crash and he enjoys public trust and represent integrity. You can see the difference between the two fellas. That been said, I think the crowd who besiege the oil firm is as stupid as their regional leader they keep celebrating. Asari dokubo who benefited from their misfortune is swimming in millions, their hero alameigsia, ibori who couldn't provide basic amenities to their society are not besiege, they are just claiming it is our oil. The issue of community development had been a hydra-headed monster that refused to go away. Back in the days, communities will soliticit the assistance of war-Lords under the guise of community reps/youths to "confront" (actually the word should be arm-twist) Oil companies. These boys will threaten fire, lay siege on oil facilities, hold workers hostage till demands are met. There had to be a way out of this log-jam. So in 2011, Chevron created a company called IRDC, a joint company in which the Itsekiri owned equity. The idea is that the company through its board who are composed of both representatives of the Itsekiri community and Chevron, will jointly agree on required community development projects.
