I.m a window phone user, I started using windows phone right from Lumia 520 when the phone was newly launched , then I upgraded to Lumia 720 (my best camera phone)now I.m currently using Lumia 640xl.

When my friends sees me with windows phone, they will start yabbing me that I dey try oooo dey use that kind phone, say they can't use it even if na dash.
Not that I.m worried about the yabbing because I really enjoyed using windows phone based on the fact that the battery last long, the camera quality is superp and it does not consume data like android phones and so many other reasons.

But my question is..........

Why do people hate windows phones?

Op 90% of the people criticizing windows phone haven't used it. They just assume nd say crap

Amusing! I was given a lumia 1520 as a birthday present by a close friend of mine, mind you it was runing windows 8.1, at first glance I was quickly taken by the camera quality, sleek design and big screen (yeah I love big screens) but after 3 days of usage it felt like sh*th (excuse my language), the app store was just as limited as that of the blackberry, the customization option on the home screen was limited to a few changes (which gets boring pretty fast), even the settings menu was clustered and not properly organised, did you know that it didn't have any file manager? And when I tried to look for one on the store I couldn't find anything the even had halve the functions of a proper file manager, the ones that claimed to be good were to be bought, when I finally got them, they weren't worth the money! (I just couldnt find me type of apps on the store) I could go on and on but in a nutshell, I used it for about 2weeks after which I gently removed my sim card and went back to my S6.

I have used Blackberry, IOS, Windows, Android, and to tell you the truth, and in all honesty, Windows sucks big time! until they make their os a bit more open so developers can get the freedom to create awesome apps and make the os lively it will remain that way, IOS would have sucked just like windows with its limitations, but the people behind it are smart enough to make design, apps and games a winning point by focusing on them to make up for the limitations!

But at the end of the day, NOTHING beats Android, not IOS, not BlackBerry and definitely not windows! It beats them all in every aspect, in terms of affordability, functionality, community, freedom, Usage, Apps, Games, Store etc. The only thing that comes close is IOS.

Your story is very fishy, says who windows phone has no file manager? Are u a programmer cos u don't sound like one (coming from a programmer). I doubt you ever had d phone u mentioned

Really where did that 0.7% come from then..even techno or infinix isn't in America yet it's widely used here. Even at that , its still no way to judge d phone, we all started from somewhere ryt.. I am using wp and its awesome, d only problem is app updation, I ll still pick it over android over-all

Guy use Internet instead of using your small circle of friends to judge.

Windows phone is less than 5% of the smartphone market worldwide. In the image attached (Q3 2015) its actually 1.7%

Because in comparison to Android phones and IOS the windows phone has way more restrictions and limitations. From your above comment, it would appear you don't do much with your phone, that's the only reason you are OK with your lumia, me for instance (my type in general), I do a lot of programming and designing on my phone, I like tweaking and customising my phone to get the best out of it, I use advance applications and when I want to pay a game, I want a hardcore game that has great graphics. We basically use phones that have freedom to do anything and everything!

But with the lumia I can't brag of being allowed to do those things, from the limitations on tweaking and customization, to the less addictive games & applications that can't be compared to that of Android or IOS, to the lack of devoted developers for its platform and finally its lack of advance functionality and features. Lumia is simply not a phone for advance phone users, it's for the "make calls/text, take pictures/videos, do a little internet surfing/chat and enjoy a long boring battery life" kind of users.
Yeah I would rather use a low tech Android phone than a high tech lumia phone, why? Because a lumia phone has the tech but doesn't utilise it! While an Android phone will utilise every bit of that low tech it has!

You have to be on our side of the fence to understand why we don't do windows phones grin

It is true we are all different. My phone is my phone. Used for calls mainly and it has to work. I cannot use an android phone for calls because the hardware it supports is just poor. If I want to do anything visual beyond calls and simple messaging I use a tab like the Samsung Tab 3. With the 10.1 screen it gives you the field of view you need and the fact that I have a life beyond the internet I can let it charge when I work. But my phone has to be on standby 24/7. Android cannot do this. The fact that you have a gazzilion apps on your phone means it is compromised in many other aspects some of which I cannot tolerate. So you don't see me with broken screens, power banks and other rubbish paraphernalia people need to maintain sanity. And as a field person, my voice phone has to be sturdy, enduring and able to take the heat....so it the network that powers it.

It would appear you glossed over my comment, it doesn't come with any file manager, and like I said the once on the store aren't worth calling a filemanager!

So I had to sound like a programmer to reply a simple comment? You would gave prefered i was technical in my reply? Them putting priority on privacy and security over user experience doesn't make it the most secure, although am not an iPhone enthusiast, I will still say an iPhone is way more secure than a windows phone or Android phone , even the fbi with all their dynamic resources couldn't get through an iphones security, it would appear you are the one lacking the knowledge on the workings of phones operating systems, if you did you would know there are backdoors on windows and android but none on IOS.

As for the other guy accusing windows phones of virus, he is probably joking, we all know that's false!

Then you haven't seen Android phones with camera. As for this data consumption thing, it's a myth that people like you who don't use android phones keep propagating. Do you download a 40mb file on Windows and it becomes 50mb on android?

I use a lumia625(windows 8.1) until last month when I had to revert to an android. The issue is Nokia and Microsoft are in agreement hence a limited availability of apps on Nokia store. Also android users are sent periodic requests to upgrade to a higher version but its never the case with windows phones. Now they are on windows 10os and I have never been able to upgrade mine. The browser shuts off at will too.Its not just okay to be candid.

First you need to root your phone, before you can use any of these apps, so be sure to do that.

Then after rooting your phone install Xposed Framework, this will act as the skeleton to the tweaking apps i.e the apps need Xposed framework for them to function properly.

Lucky Patcher (for patching, unlocking paid apps and so much more)

Gravity Box ( for full tweaking and customization )

Wanam Xposed (also for twerking and customization )

Blackmat (get paid apps for free) [doesn't need Xposed or root to work]

There are more tweaking apps in xposed modules repository, just open xposed and go through the download repository, a lot of them there!

Oh okay bro thanks. Buh the problem is that I dunno which app to use to root my J5. I've tried different rootin apps includin kingroot and none of them worked.
Re: Why Do Majority Of Smartphone Users In Nigeria Detest Windows Phone? by Nobody: 8:42am On Aug 12, 2016
i have android, ios and windows mobile devices
i have been through three windows phones from 520 to 630 to 640xl

i really really recommended windows phones in the past. but that was the past when they still had some potential

the first thing to consider in any mobile os is the app store

windows mobile appstore may as well be on life support.

if you are a power user, you will be deeply frustrated at how cross platform apps are either unavailable or severly underperforming on windows mobile.

you will also find yourself outside looking in. the apps that are all the rage are not on windows mobile and probably will never be. the last three weeks have been all about pokemon go - not on windows.
angry birds action - not on windows.

the unpopularity of windows is further showcase in the lack of 'deals'. on ios there are high quality free app deals everyday.
this was the case with windows mobile two years ago with my app free, but today the free apps are mostly garbage

i stopped trying to use bbm on it because it was always crashing.
whatsapp works, but the experience is extremely laggy compared to android.

until some recent builds i was getting seriously frusrtated because windows mobile had a bug that led to serious issues if you were using two sims. i would have to reboot the phone 10 times before i could set up a data connection. and if the phone crashed or went off, i would have to do this all over again

i had a loooong argument with some windows mobile holdouts some weeks back over these same issues
