Nigeria prevailed over China, USA, Japan, South Africa, Ireland, Ukraine, Israel, Philippines and other 20 participating countries to emerge winner in the Socially Responsible Business category at the 2016 SAGE World Cup held in Manila Philippines (11-16 August). The teams from China and Israel came second and third respectively.

The Amazing Amazons SAGE team of Government Girls Secondary School Abaji Abuja made Nigeria proud with their socially responsible business enterprise tagged “THE REAL FARMERS MARKET “.

The core aim of the enterprise is to provide access to market for rural farmers by connecting them directly to a variety of consumers so they can get fair prices for their produce. Utilizing technology, the team created a website and a mobile App where consumers can buy directly from the rural famers at fair prices.

According to Ms. Vanessa Edzuwah the 16 year old CEO of the Amazing Amazons SAGE team “our focus is to apply modern technology to add value to the agricultural value chain which allows farmers sell their produce fast, maximize their earning, and get relevant market and farming information and training.

This business model has guaranteed steady income for our team through commissions and advertisements on our platform; it has increased house hold income for rural farmers and provided fresh and healthy agro products to consumers.
