Hello,

I finished with a BEng in Agricultural and Bioresources Engineering. I am also at the tail end of my MSc program in Environmental Engineering.

I have been working as a Building services (M & E) and Environmental Engineer for the last two years.

Can I submit my technical report focused on my work experience alone? And what COREN seal will I be considered for? I have heard only rumors, I would like fact. Thanks

Yes you can.

You're so on-point.

NSE is just like money-making association that only believes in your pocket and not your brain.

I still remember what I experienced during my first attempt at NSE Lagos. Imagine someone marking me down because the Oba of the village I come from insulted him. He practically told me I was gonna fail and truly, I failed the interview even after answering correctly 7 out of 8 questions.
Sat beside me was a mate that couldn't answer correctly 1 question except know where he works- Deltafrik.

My advice has always been DO NOT apply for NSE in LAGOS... Go to places like Akure, Osogbo, Ado-Ekiti. #LessWahala #LessMoney

I paid around 300k to be MNSE... My COREN is on it's way n hopefully by the end of the 2nd quarter, I shld be a R.COREN...

after paying all these will u pay for COREN again?

Well, let me just state the process I passed thru whn registering...

1. Joined a branch of NSE (Apapa Branch)
a. Paid registration fee
b. Paid annual subscription

2. Joined a division of NSE (Civil Division)
a. Upgraded my status (from student membership to corporate membership).
b. Paid for annual subscription

3. Applied for NSE corporate membership
a. Paid application fee

4. Printed several forms filled both by myself and my sponsors (they must be financially up-to-date)

5. Report writing and printing

6. Paid to attend workshops
a. National workshop
b. Branch workshop

7. Attended Report defense

8. National examination

9. When passed, paid like #58,500 for election/admission letter n certificate at National level

10. Paid #65,000 for induction at local level.

After collection of the election letter, I proceeded to applying for COREN.

11. Paid #12,000 as application fee

12. Paid #1,500 for transcript verification

13. Uploaded necessary documents including summary of report used for NSE reg.

After approval by Council,

14. Paid #36,500 for seal, stamp and certificate

15. Paid #35,000 for this year's COREN Assembly (compulsory for all newly approved Engineers)

*****************THE END******************

With the new policy by COREN, I'd advise you visit the coren website to have first class information.

I know it's gonna be cheaper going thru direct COREN.

For further information, I could link you up with a friend working with COREN.

PM me and let's talk

Yes!!! Go to www.coren.gov.ng

First and foremost is to have had the required years of experience backed up by the professional report based on acquired experience.

Go to COREN website for payment and registration guidelines.

It’s about time a Nigerian Design Consultancy start taking the design lead on our bridge, rail, highway and building projects. We cannot afford to continue procuring engineering services from abroad.

The Nigerian resident Julius Berger also needs to up their game. The 29 billion naira (145 million dollars) spent on building the cable-stayed 1.4km long lekki-Ikoyi link bridge will build a grandeur and iconic suspension bridge for that bridge span. Julius Berger needs competition from another major residential Design Consultancy.

When a country allows foreign Engineers to come in and design her project, such country will be exposed to an underdevelopment of local Engineers, Capital flight, less employment in the Engineering sector and will also face National Security Issues (the country that built the structures know what the capacity of your infrastructures are and can use them during war time, God forbid!!). Our Engineering Graduates and Technicians are intelligent enough and what they need is the appropriate experience for them to be the best they can possibly be.

It's not about the Professional institution (NSE, Coren, ICE, IStructE) recognition but what an Engineer can deliver, the accreditations will chase you when you have the right experience

Sorry to burst your bubble, that bridge is not even a cable-stay bridge.. those cable-like stuffs are actually rods and are strictly aesthetic; they perform no structural role whatsoever! Its a reinforced concrete deck bridge!

- EssOO (Structural Engineer_ Coincidentally witnessed the construction on this bridge from piling to commissioning from waterside Lekki)

Another analogy please!!!

I am proud to be an engineer, for my profession takes care of world's major industries and adds value to humanity. Without engineers this global village would be likened to tea without sugar.

You are right, I later found out that those cables are not doing anything, just aesthetic. That's fraud lool because a concrete deck bridge will be cheaper than a cable-stayed bridge.
