So a foreigner (Niger republic) threatens to kill a Nigerian citizen yet the Nigerian is arrested instead ? Intrepid. Just the type of blatant rights Libyan herdsmen have over Nigerian farmers where even govt troops provide them with protection smiley

For any idíot who would quote me stúpidly, the mans "offense" is too minor for this nonsense. It's even less than two fighting wahala and could have been sorted out at police station. No judge would be happy to handle this case when his/her docket is filled with more important urgent cases. The Nigerien should rather be arrested for threat to life as attested to by the police authorities themselves
stupid police doing what they are best at

We are not naïve children. We all know that ethnic hatred is the reason an Igbo man would name his dog Buhari, paint the name on it and parade the same in a Hausa / Fulani community.

He was baiting the northerners and should count himself lucky that they chose to report to the police rather than lynch him. Why incite violence then go about crying victimization? It is easy to draw first blood but a wise man will count the cost before making such a daring move.

In katsina where I served, the hausas named their dogs JONATHAN. Gej was in power then. I asked them why such names, they told me the dog behaves like their president. I'm a northerner but I can say my fellow northerners are very shallow minded. Especially the ones that refused going to school. When I was in skool, one of my hausas friend has never opened his book to read. During exams, as we were busy cramming ECONOMETRICS, ADVANCED MATHEMATICAL ECONOMICS, my guy was busy watching prison break. We would ask him, "won't you read" he will tell us Let Allah's will be done. If Allah says I will fail, so be it.

What's wrong in calling a dog Buhari? Is it against the law? The police have not arrested the budget "Padders",the rampaging herdsmen,Shekau, but here they are raising dust over a man who decides to name his dog with whatever suits him.

I am in full support of keeping this idiot of a man in jail. When trouble sits quietly, some people are fond of going to pull it's whiskers. Ordinary cartoons drawn in Europe some few years back resulted in a backlash that killed alot of Nigerians in the North.
From all the names out there you can name a pet, it is Buhari you can actually settle for? Not even rice or tomatoes that are currently very expensive. I hear he even went as far as writing the name on the dog? Who does that??

It's a straight foward matter, a bloody one at that! Definitely, the Yorubas would hardly ever follow such trend, the Igbos are more likely to keep up with this just as one of them living outside the country has, though to Lai Muhammed. If this brainless incident isn't handled properly now and should more of his bitter(over election loss, ethnicity & region of the president) fellows follows suite in animalising the president who is Hausa/fulani from the north, the Hausas would react, anyone would(only that they go bloody, easily). We all know how it would turn out so let millions of them follow suite, they would end up endangering the lives of their people leaving over there in the north. "Nyanga dey sleep, trouble go go wake am". Later dey go dey claim victim! Smh. Not in anyway supporting the possible bloody reaction of the hausas but rather, just stating facts.

sentiment is written all over your point if you don't know, you better know that!!

a foreigner threatening his host that he will kill him over the host's country issue and you are here preaching a sentimental peace...

didn't people do worst than that to GEJ? still no time anybody from his region took the laws into their own hands, not to even talking of a foreigner threatening a Nigerian all in the name of GEJ!

in a sane country, the foreigner would be picked in no time for a rigorous interrogation, while the host would be caution not to start an ethno-tribal fracas...!

Have any Fulani herds man been arrested and charged to court?

Highly provocative indeed.

Those who went on air to call their president. Kindergarten president were not provoking.

We can see through all these.

They also said the arrested him to save his life.

Nonsense.
If you are not happy with the news, u can do the needful

An action as provocative like this one has the tendency to cause a massive unrest and an unprecedented, avoidable and unnecessary bloodshed and as such, should be regarded as an attempted attempt to attempt an attempt to commit genocide.

In the light of the above, the devil incarnate should be sentenced to at least 20 years imprisonment with extremely hard labor without option of fine.

No more more bloodshed in Nigeria. Let peace reign forever in our dear nation.

I don't just know why some people are professional mischief makers. Why name your pet after someone's father? The easterners have to really get their priorities right. Losing election is not the end of the world. People have moved on, the easterners should learn to move on too. We all know why the lunatic named his pet 'buhari'. Of course he did that just to spark some ethno-religious crisis. And I ask, what will the fool achieve if people are killed because of trivial issues like this?

Everyday drug peddlers{majority of them are from the east}are arrested and prosecuted in various nations around the world. And till date I'm yet to hear anybody from that part of the country addressing such calamity or enlightening his people about the dangers of carrying hard-drugs to other folks nations. People will just focus all their energies on irrelevant things. Now I still ask again, what did the lunatic intend to achieve with this foolishness?

I also heard one other lunatic{residing in USA} have named her pet 'lia Mohammed' and some very sick people were applauding her foolishness. We all know how fragile Nigeria is and how some people tend to protect their religion and what not. What will people achieve by creating unnecessary crisis here and there? People are quick to accuse the northerners of being too prone to violence without accusing or calling out the instigators. Now every sane mind knows that some people will find naming a pet after buhari provocative and the sooner the authorities deal with that lowlifer the better for everyone. In USA people name their pets Lincoln, Washington, Obama etc and everybody flows with it. A neighbor of mine even named her female chihuahua 'Hillary'. But hey, Nigeria is not USA. We are a fragile nation with intolerant people. May God help us
every day the Fulani herdsmen keep shedding innocent blood, this however has not sparked up ethno religious war. but the naming of a dog after Buhari will start that, just say u hate the Igbos I think that is understandable... ewu

So why can't you advice northerners to get upgraded like their mates in the US or even the SW. Do we continue dragging along people from the stone age with us? Can't they just grow like all human being? Nigeria isn't USA, but USA was once like Nigeria, until they dropped some animalistic tendencies. Here we just want to drag people with their backward trend along. No wonder we can't improve. This same issue is with grazing bill, western education, freedom of religion, child marriage, women education etc.

So to save the suspect is to arrest him and charge him to court instead of the person threatening him, serious crimes are there to fight but they can't, how many robbers have been arrested, how many boko haram that have killed many, the man is just being meted with unjust treatment

true , i had a neighbor in the states who named his dog barak, and we all used to laugh it off. he was later arrested though but not for naming the dog barak but for animal abuse as he was always beating the dog

This guy deserves thousand arrests. U could name a dog any name you desire but pinpointing that u named it after a particular person is not only an insult but derogatory.
In the first instance when he was arrested I felt with him but when he came out to aver that he actually named after the Buhari of the president of Nigeria, I recommended his arrest. Good job!

don't shift this thing to a particular tribe, Nigeria is d most religious and cultural country in the world, so this same ish can instigate ethnoreligious violence in any part of d country.....be it d east, south-south, south west or the north.....the best thing is to try to prevent such incident
