better than deceiving over 180million Nigerians in the name of search for oil in Chad basin... it will please me if we push for restructuring and total control of resources

Black Africans don't manufacture anything. They only uproot things from the ground and sell.

Na still white man go tell them the value of the things they uproot. Left to them alone, they know nothing about and can't use it for anything. Before 1940, oil was flowing in ogoni land like river and everybody dey avoid am like plague, now its one of the things tearing the country apart. Left to abokkkki alone, what use is Nickel, now some of people will soon die because of this. What has black Africa contributed to the world so far, nothing. Left to me, i suggest we rent africa out to China or russia at least for 10yrs, let see what they will make out with it. I am begining to think the garden of eden is hidden somewhere in Africa and unfurtunately, it is impossible for the empty head politically roted black African to notice.

Nice...

Nickel-containing materials play a major role in our everyday lives – food preparation equipment, mobile phones, medical equipment, transport, buildings, power generation – the list is almost endless. They are selected because - compared with other materials - they offer better corrosion resistance, better toughness, better strength at high and low temperatures, and a range of special magnetic and electronic properties.

Most important are alloys of iron, nickel and chromium, of which stainless steels (frequently 8-12% nickel) are the largest volume. Nickel based alloys - like stainless steel but with higher nickel contents - are used for more demanding applications such as gas turbines and some chemical plants.Turbine

In addition, iron and nickel alloys are used in electronics and specialist engineering, while copper-nickel alloys are used for coinage and marine engineering.

There are about 3000 nickel-containing alloys in everyday use. About 90% of all new nickel sold each year goes into alloys, two-thirds going into stainless steel.

But soon some government officials would begin to use to fill pot-holes grin

Fayemi that was rejected by Ekiti State is now travelling to Australia grin

But where is lalasticlala sef undecided
I hope we do not sell this. Nickel is of great use in engineering and material science.

90% purity and unbelievable spread
A semblance of conventional Nigerian governance is returning gradually.
Like I said in one thread,Things are happening.
Those people stuck in the cities and waiting for their pastors and Imams to prey to aliens to provide a useless jobs for them are wasting the opportunities.
Every lack is an opportunity.
Nigeria wasted $1.5 billion on importing fruit juice last year.
Likewise wasted billions of US dollars importing
milk,
chocolate,
liquor,
petrol,
diesel,
petrochemicals
Rice
Sorghum
Tomatoes
building materials made of clay and mud
Cotton and textile.
Cooking utensils made of ceramic.
Cutlerry made from iron, brass and aluminium.

Then you wonder why you do not have jobs?
The last government even went as far as giving away import waivers to these items.Thereby depressing the local economy further.
Like Jonathan said, no one knows better than the IMF and world Bank.
Hopefully we can move from the conventional to a more international standard of governance.
Put this ,gold, tin, aluminium and iron on nitro and the country is well on her way to giving oil the finger.
This has been teh situation for years, but you might just be surprised, they have been mining these minerals underground for years without paying nothing to the FG and nah Dem Dem, the Ogas at the top de do am.What happened to the bitumen in the SW?

Well in my opinion this isn't such a bad thing for Nigeria if PMB can be smart enough about the kind of people that are put in charge of the exploitation of the mineral resource. It's not enough to just dig it up and export it how about getting manufacturers of the industries that need it as a major raw material to come and set up shops in the country that way we can also export the finished goods it's used for. I can imagine what the company in charge of Ajaokuta steel mill had been paying to import that material and now we don't have to import that as stated above their are so many things needed now that nickel is used as a major raw material for. Well hope we're smart enough as a nation.

I also hope that all of you oil fighters in the North and South start exporting manufactured computers, cars, bikes, jet planes, oil rigs, heavy equipment, clothing, etc....so that we can earn some real money.

Because selling oil and minerals and agric is so 1960's. Strong nations live from working hard, not from selling raw materials and using the money acquired to import and import and wreck the economy via overimport.

A serious government will have started drawing up policy plans and TOC in the MOUs to different bidding companies to include a processing facility built nearby with a 30 year Buyback option (after 30 years, resell facility to a Nigerian conglomerate), 2 technological centres in collaboration with 2 universities in Nigeria (one in the parent state, we already have Unis that teach Metals and Metallurgy and have Departments for Mining. But they need strengthening and massive upheavals) and a 40% technology transfer rate (to encourage your own citizens to become more advanced to take.over eventually from the company). In other words, for every dollar you make in Nigeria, you must spend $1 educating a Nigerian to eventually take over your job. Singapore and Malaysia did it, others did it. The U.S. actively does it, so does Canada. They make private companies pass on skills to their local workforce. All this will advance us further.

Wake me up when we become serious. Because I've seen better policy makers on Nairaland and social media than in government.

Fayemi never studied sciences in any of his 3 degrees yet, he's performing well, a strong civil service is enough for any minister, irrespective of discipline to perform.
That is why leadership is different from management and worker-ship. People we keep mouthing Fashola is not an engineer don't get it. The Legal and commercial exposure of the Ministry of power may be worth double the requirements for engineering......that is why a leader is needed to galvanise the mix
