‘wow Vega….i’m really glad you visited….maybe I could visit you sometime….’ Fikayo winked at her mother who was enjoying every bit of the conversation….

‘sure…sure….’ Vega sipped some water to calm himself….what kind of people were these? They were extremely desperate and he wasn’t comfortable with them….

Why was his dad trying to ruin his life?

‘are you tired already Vega? Go on….eat your food…guess who prepared it’? Evelyn cajoled him….

‘I don’t know ma’m…but it’s very delicious…’ he smiled politely….this wasn’t time to make small talk…he had to speak to Dami elsewhere…he had to find out more….

‘I did baby….and I promise to give you this kind of meal everyday….when we finally tie the knot…..’Fikayo smiled proudly….

Dami almost spilled his drink on hearing that… his sister was a blatant liar….he would shake her a little…

‘Fifi…I thought you didn’t know how to prepare Egusi soup….’ He sipped his drink coolly…

The lion gave his cutest smile….definitely something going on here….he wasn’t interested though…

‘Dami….be a darling and go check on the gateman….see if he’s been served’…Evelyn eyed him dangerously….how could he jeopardize Fifi’s chances….

‘if you say so mum….see you guys in a minute….’ He sighed and rose up…he couldn’t wait to leave their toxic presence….

He had to speak to his father alone…they had many things to discuss…

‘wait up man….i saw some flowers outside…would like to check them out’ Vega called after Dami….

‘oh my god….can I come? I love flowers too….’ Fifi requested….

‘no dear….why don’t you clear the table first, then join them later….’ Evelyn wanted the Chief to have a very good impression of their daughter….

‘am sorry about them….i noticed they made you uncomfortable….’ Dami had watched the way Evelyn and her daughter displayed their foolishness….

He wasn’t no fool but Fikayo was, he’d watched Vega closely since he walked in, it seemed he was a nice guy…but he was clearly not interested in Fifi…

His mind was definitely somewhere else….just like his mind was …she wouldn’t let him rest…he regretted the day he set eyes on Rose…


‘excuse me’? Vega feigned ignorance…he didn’t want Dami to know his thoughts about this arranged marriage plan….


‘loosen up Sir….i won’t tell them a thing…am not on my mother’s good side…so feel free’ he chuckled softly….

‘uhmm…about Bola….is she really your sister…tell me more’ Vega cleared his throat and looked around….

He was confused…why was he doing this? Why was he so interested in her?

‘why are you so interested in that….’ Dami paused and observed the man before him….

He now saw the resemblance….Dami and Bola shared some features….

How could he be so stupid? He would call her and apologize…and officially end things between them on a good note….


‘okay…she’s my elder sister…though we’re from different moms….her mother died of cancer when she was just five years old….and dad married my mom shortly after….’ Dami answered….

‘really? So why isn’t she here’? he was surprised….he’d looked at all the pictures in the livingroom and he hadn’t seen her….

‘well….my mom wasn’t the best step-mother in the world…things got bad…and she left…’ Dami raised his brows….

‘why am I even telling you all this’? Dami stared at Vega suspiciously….

‘hmm nothing….just curious I’ve never heard of her….’ Vega patted Dami’s back and returned to the house….

Fifi had lied to him…he wasn’t surprised…she was desperate and could say anything to win his favor…but that wouldn’t happen…

His father wasn’t going to force him…he was ready for the fight….

‘I think we’ll have to go Evelyn…we’ll visit Makanjuola some other time…am so happy you welcomed us this way’ the chief was greatly pleased….

He rose up as Vega walked in….

‘am pleased to be your host sir….please always feel free to visit…and Vega…make sure you come here more often….don’t allow your wife to miss you much’

‘thanks ma…have a nice day’…

‘Vega…give me your number….let’s keep in touch….’ She offered him her phone gladly…

‘oh…alright…’ he punched the keys….

He had other things to do….Rose had sent him a text…the girl he’d been yearning for had finally agreed to meet with him…he couldn’t wait to explore her….

‘am curious about something….’ The lion pondered on what he’d heard earlier…

‘and what’s that’?

‘about Evelyn’s other daughter….the one Dami mentioned….am curious as to why her father never mentioned her…’

‘I don’t know….you love games….you should find out…’

‘Son, Anger does no man good….so let go of all that…and drive me safely back to my office…I have an appointment.

‘good morning Bee’ Rose was already awake and she wasted no time in waking her friend…last night was something else…

‘morning Rose….’ Bola yawned….she felt better by morning….talking to Rose had really helped ease some of the pain she felt….

‘Bee…are you sure you really want to do this? Don’t do what you may regret later’ Rose rubbed her head…

I was a fool to sleep with and fall in love with a guy who’s clearly in love with another….but I think am over that now…though I still think of him…I’ll try as much as possible to stay far away from Vega…and any other man for now…till am done healing…’ she hadn’t felt this relieved for a long time…it was like a weight was lifted off her shoulders…

‘wow…are you sure? Am glad you’ve made this decision…am happy for you’ Rose was forced to hug her….feeling pity for herself… Dami was a good guy and didn’t deserve a girl like her….she was a rough girl….

‘so what would you tell the chief’? Bola stretched her legs and searched for her ringing phone….

‘well I could always find him another woman…that dirty old man’ Rose winked….

Chief was going to be disappointed…but her friend’s happiness was more important to her….
