In my opinion, Fayose was wrong to enact such laws in the first place. The fulanis have the right to live and work in ekiti just like every other Nigerian. Why ban their business of cattle rearing when they have no other means? Why criminalize the fulanis as if all fulanis are killers? There are bad eggs amongst every tribe, why do we make it look like violence is exclusive to northerners only. The people we should frown at are cattle rustlers who steals cattle from fulanis and use them as disguise for their evil deeds. The fulanis are peaceful people who go about their business in peace and we all know they control their herds of cattle with mere sticks. Even though we call them primitive, how many southerner can rear cattle for national consumption like the fulanis? Without them how do we see beef to consume? The rustlers are armed terrorist escaping from the north east to the south. What fayose should have done is to forbid any herdsmen from moving around with weapons, not banning cattle rearing completely. If all states cooperated with the FG on creation of grazing reserves throughout the country, there will not be a single cattle left on the streets looking for grass. Instead we chastised president Buhari's brilliant policy in the name of islamization. The ripple effects are the incessant attacks by the rustlers. The grazing bill remains the best and safest option. Not unnecessary bans sad

You are very clueless. If you prefer to put a serpent in your bosom and think it will not bite you, we don't. You obviously have no idea of the Fulani culture. How will you tell a cow: hey eat only the grazing field, when we are crossing states don't eat anything ooo. See you don't even deserve my explanation sef

Did he ban grazing or he said they must PAY for grazing just the same way we pay them for the meat from their cows, not so huh
Why are we so lawless people?
Why should you and others encourage cows to roam in cities anyhow and destroy people's farms without compensation?
Rather than compensate the farmers they even kill them and our president says NOTHING?

i can understand your point, but if an average illiterate herdman isnt informed enough to know d current trend in a state, what about their rich bosses that sent dem ,arent dey aware toohuh grin This whole senario is a clear indication of one daring the Government, which You as a well meaning knowledgable person refused to see
Besides, ignorance of the law, isnt an excuse in the court of law.
u talked about "national meat production",the last time i checked, cattle farming is an individual business just like, birds, bee, fish etc farming, anyone,i mean any business dat endanger life of citizen, a sensitiv Govt shud control it by any possible means. have a gudday

That is not what I asked you . YOU said UNFETTERED . YOUR words!! Freedom and UNFETTERED freedom are very different concepts. If you make an argument be prepared to back up. This has absolutely nothing to do with detesting. If any activity can cause social problems government has the right to REGULATE. People have a right to drive if they get a licence. It is not an unfettered right. People have a right to drive if they obey traffic regulations.

The same applies to movement there is freedom of movement

but it is not unfettered. Government has a right to regulate it.
People have a right to sell food but in some cases government says you must get NAFDAC approval. SO regulation is everywhere
The funny thing here is we are not talking about people we are talking about animals. government has the power to regulate how animals are transported. too . Regulation is the fundamental power of government to FETTER rights. The real issue is whether the fetters comply with the constitution. An entirely different argument. But your fundamental assertion of UNFETTERED rights is bunkum

You are the one that started speaking oyinbo and at the first challenge you resort to bluff and bluster.

No rights are unfettered because all rights conflict with other rights and governance is about balance.Yes you have the right to swing your arms but that right stops at my nose. It is not unfettered
Once again I ask where do you get this claim that ONLY FEDERAL legislation can change it. You made the claim.Where is your evidencehuh
Whether it is possible or not again is a different argument from the argument of constitution and rights that you started with so choose one argument and stick to it
Erudite!!!

Fayose is only trying to be heard by all means. He needs a state police to enforce this law.Fortunately there is no state police for him to use anyhow. The police unfortunately for him is controlled by the federal government.WE are not deceived or fooled by him.He should please return the money he seized on the poultry faked establishment in Ekiti.

You comment will course uproar abd coas between people that act withoutk knowledge.
The bill did not stop fulani from rearing cattle but stop provision of grassing land and use of gun by fulani.

How many times have you had an encounter with the fulanis? Okay let's say you buy kindirimu from their women, have you gone close to the male especially when their cows are grazing? Stop fooling yourself. Buhari is an Islamist and a dictator...simple
Don't Conclude. It's just common sense. Not all of them are bad. Afterall there's freedom of grazing. Government said if you see any herdsman with automatic weapons, you report to the nearest police. It's not hard.

With this law farmlands and agro-settlements will be free of the cantankerous race
To make it biting and ensure total compliance, law should have included clauses like: 1. Phone numbers of Police divisions to be contacted once a Fulani and his cows migrate around farmlands 2. Failure of enforcement officers to respond within 10-15 minutes is punishable by 6 months imprisonment 3. Sentiments expressed by Hausa-Fulani Police officers in hounding the defaulters is also punishable by huge fines.

Please show where the constitution gives UNFETTERED access to ANY part of the country.

Chapter and verse please.
Also what is the basis for it " can only be stopped by FEDERAL legislation" Where do you get that from?

How is it different from legislation banning okadas in Lagos which by the way was unsuccessfully challenged. Do not okada riders have unfettered access?
Thank you. Help ask him germaine questions. If as a Nigerian I have unfettered access to anywhere in Nigeria, does it mean I can do any business anywhere? I can be anywhere is different from doing any business anywhere. Why is it that o can open a beer parlor in Lagos but would not be allowed same freedom in Sokoto or Zamfara? At least beer is a licit substance, a legit business just like the cattle rearing. If those northern states can enact laws restricting my business freedom in their domain, nothing should stop Fayose from replicating same with aim of protecting his people in his domain. Qed

The Ekiti grazing law is not like you think it. It is applicable after curfew time. What they did is to give time for grazing 7am to 6pm. It is those caught after that time that it affects. And herdmen with guns.

Please before you go sentimental on the new law, answe these questions.
1.Does the law ban the herdsmen from doing their business or does it demand them to get a business place for themselves (ranch) just as other Nigerians.Eg Banks,Schools,Cyber cafe etc.
2.In developed climes where we copy most of our policies from,do we have cattles roaming the streets?
3.Does the law ban the movement of herdsmen or the movement of cattle?
