Bmw Engines by mandmis007(op): 6:26pm On Sep 02, 2016
I own a BMW 2007 760Li model, the engine knocked last two months when we travelling to jos from lagos.
The engine was opened and discovered that the some parts of the block engine was broken. My predicament now is whether to buy another engine or to repair the old one or buy another block and couple the engine. Which will be best? Pls advise.

Buy another one, use the old one as spares.you can buy a used bare engine and transfer all accessories, that will reduce cost.

Buy another engine but keep the old. Faster turnaround time

cause some of the engine is still good

second option, rebuild with a BMW certified tech, which will take time and more money given current exchange rate to bring in OEM parts or to purchase from the franchised dealership locally

Big engine, Big Gbese!!!!!
Best to huntdown a decent replacement engine. Kazeem would struggle to put this humpty dumpty together.
Even BMW would not fix, they would simply drop a new lump in and gladly bill you..............

Re: Bmw Engines by mandmis007(op): 1:09pm On Sep 04, 2016
Thanks so much for your advice. I made enquiries about how much a "belgium" engine would cost and I got ranges between 600k to 800k. Do u think this is a realistic price for a 760 v12?
Re: Bmw Engines by mayor2013:
I suggest you go to the market and hear the price yourself. Thank your star it wasn't the 2012. Engine is 2.8m

What is the year of your BM? Better if you have the VIN.

I am based here in Jacksonville, Florida.

I will look into how much it will cost you to buy and ship down.

They are not common engine nor cheap and heavy as you can imagine.

Not really. 760i is the MOST luxurious and most expensive vehicle made by BMW. They are about $135,000 New.

Expensive car = Expensive part especially when you are talking about the most important part of the car - The ENGINE

Owner should have be more careful. These engines are not supposed to just pack up unless someone was not being too careful somewhere

Its not for the faint of heart. Someone called me a while ago looking for the shocks on a 760il limousine (European Spec). Its air shocks. I went into the dealership and its like $1,100 EACH!! the back ones. Did not hear from him again

Better to drive the Landcruisers and 4Runners
