Don't mind the Writer, He was referring to when the Niger Deltans were earning peanuts from their God given Natural Resource when they were earning 1% derivation, he's even glorifying the fact that Niger Delta Girls were prostituting to earn a share of the revenue of their own resources. He should be ashamed. It's was because of Militancy that an Ijaw man become the President of Nigeria, without the agitation, Obasanjo would neva have consider a South Southerner for Vice President. They understand Nigerian Government very well, they know that Militancy is the only language the Government understands

and what is the end result.
are the girls getting better offer now cus Ijaw man was president
have the girls stopped ashawo work and now work in offices cus of your agitations?
give them resource control and things will still remain the same, the 13% and NNDC is enough evidence of what will happen if more money or resources are giving.
The only result of militancy is billions getting into the hand of a few while the community suffers!

This man is indeed a very brilliant Waferian. You are supposed to be the minister for Niger Delta Delta. The Delta militants are fighting for for things below the ground, not in their heads. No one is ready to GO AND DIE in Warri.

Very good article. You will find out that those that will disagree are mostly not for the Niger Delta. They put other people's matter on their head like no tomorrow.

I have said it before and will say it again, the ND is shooting herself on the foot. Soon and I mean very soon Nigeria's economy will be massively diversified and they will find out that the oil they kept shouting out oyel will be less relevant while they have zero investment in their lands.

And you can't blame the FG for that. You can't keep sabotaging the economy and expect investment in your land. The entitlement mentality got you lot into this shiit. When you stopped being so entitled, the nonsense will stop as well.

Well said. Same to you @quotasystem

Nonsense write up. If that is not the way for the Niger Delta to agitate, can he kindly suggest the right way. Because the fact still remains that there is an injustice taking place in the Niger delta and these injustices need to be addressed in whatsoever way. There are omonile in Lagos but did it stop the companies from operating there? This blackmail of the Niger delta is getting out of hand

FG would have avoided all these mess by giving full resource control from the very beginning, No, they were very busy, controlling from the centre, sharing oil blocks to themselves, to the extent an Oil block producing 250,000 barrels a day( more than Gabon total production) pushed an ordinary Fashion Designer to the Richest Black Woman on Earth. No there's fire on the Mountain, they have retorted to plan B,

It's a sad story.. shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked When the attack dogs have no more opponents to munch, they turn around on the children of their own masters and consume them. This aptly explains the case of 'deve' in warri which started with foreigners who owned companies, and then non-indigenes owning companies and then non-indigenes just building personal houses... When it persisted, people who should have been in position to talk to the youths or halt the retrogressive trend remained mute. It was typical to hear patronising statements like "the youths are angry cos they have no jobs" .. The monster was allowed to grow unchecked until the same 'youths' began forcefully demanding 'deve' from even indigenes and even the government wasnt spared. Government wants to build a road or a hospital, it would be required to pay 'deve' first before contractors are allowed on site. grin I remember the ugly saga when Ibori wanted to construct the Warri city stadium, he vehemently refused to pay the rampaging youths and had to litter the project site with a multitude of mobile policemen till the job was completed.

Such is the foolishness that crippled the town; recently even shoprite was attacked and vandalised and looted by some lazy 'youths'... Everything in the town is dead presently, numerous companies have fled and even the NPA seaport was crippled by this exact attitude. For a company like Shell to leave, it was the nail on the coffin of Warri as a 'formerly' booming economic town.

But anyway, the mental power of the set of youths we have today doesnt go beyond making claims like "Hausas and Yorubas are responsible for the flight of industries from the niger delta.... in fact we must punish buhari by destroying further and chasing away more investments." Perhaps the youths who vandalised delta mall / shoprite were also fighting injustice against buhari even as some educated ones joined and cheered on. Meanwhile, some persons bitten by this mumu bug have already arrived the thread with the mumu virus.

what did an ijaw president do about what you just wrote up their!
Get the writers point, no job in WarrI again, that's why the comedians now joke about poverty in Warri. you have not Pointed out any benefit of militancy to the Niger delta region.
While other regions where fighting in the education and social development race , some where advancing the technology behind sapele water, now you see the end result.
In development, their must be a chain, one step after the other ,as the chain advances it pulls along the other parts , that is development.
A cocoa farmer send his sons to school, one becomes a lawyer, the other an engineer, they both come back home and help the cocoa farm industry grow. same with other artisans and farmers, this chain of development does not happen in the Niger delta, they just want to control the resources without working towards it. As they where late (and still far behind)in development, they have no choice than to be late in resource control, that's the fact of life.

You may as well extend your memory and nistalgia to the time when whites ruled Nigeria and things "worked" . you wrote this lengthy epistle with no mention of the causes of militancy, you compare lagos a place the represents the conspiracy against the Niger delta with warri a place that has suffered and is still suffering at the hands of hausa-fulani feudalists and their Yoruba accomplices, and you expect to be taken seriously. You want the owners of the oil to be content with welding and catering and even prostitution while the thieves cart away everything to their regions? Clap for yourself. Militancy was caused by marginalization and will continue until redress is made.

Dude, but why are you not holding your state leaders and local govt leaders accountable? They are embezzling the money allocated to your states and yet you guys only point to the fed govt or to the north.
Why don't the youth march to the state house of assembly or to there local govt administration and demand a change instead you guys are pointing to Abuja.

Mr. Man, if you are this concerned why don't you at least phone (or protest) your state representatives and tell them to focus on the issues that affect the region like passing a bill that would deregulate the oil and gas sector and provide jobs and economic prosperity to the Niger Delta. This is what they should be doing instead of embezzling money.

As a man from the area I can only say, the fitters and bricklayers of the time had no better qualification to work yet, their standard of living was better than the graduates of today. Something must definitely be wrong.

I pity U, the problem is that U have no clue about the Macroeconomic Role Oil and Gas plays in Nigeria. See how it plays now, Niger delta is the only productive area in the Nigerian Economy, the rest of Nigeria exports just 4% of the entire Export volume, ND exports 96%, infact Niger Delta is the most productive region in Africa after Libya Oil field which is riddled by terrorist, it's even more productive than South Africa's Gold mines. Embezzlement is not unique to the Niger delta, most Nigerian politicians loot. The agitation in the delta is about one region being shortchanged by an organized gang up of outsiders.
