thelish:I could read the weather forecast and use it to predict whether it will rain tomorrow or not. People who don't know about weather forecasts would think I'm a prophet if this happened many times. I could predict something I'm 50% sure is going to happen based on common sense, statistics, science, news, etc and then ask people to pray against it. If it happens, I'm a great prophet. If it doesn't happen, the prayers worked! Or he gave u your life history in details? There are two ways: One is cold reading, which I call the Sherlock Holmes strategy. The other is hot reading, which I call the CIA strategy. |

Seun:Seun there are some things that have no explanation from your end but you still attempt to explain them away thereby looking more dumb than smart. People predict the weather with the aid of sensitive equipment but here we have someone freely without the aid of equipment declare your life and sensitive issues personally relating to you. Stop talking Seun...for once stop talking. |

thelish:Someone mentioning my details to me isn't strange because I always submit them when completing forms in organizations. Don't sound funny. It takes your CV or a completed biodata submitted somewhere and a little more investigation to get detailed information about you. |

4everGod:Here's your problem. You have an already made up mind when it comes to God. How do you know they are not using any sensitive equipment? You think pastors don't do research? And use technology? How do you think they prepare sermons and teachings? Maybe God shows them all the bible quotations in a vision. Don't you think a 'supposed' prophet can go digging for information on a particular person (prey) just to sound convincing for dubious purposes? When you hear of 'fake pastors and prophets' duping people of millions and valuables don't you imagine how it happens. |

DeSepiero:You seem not to understand what the OP is saying. Let me give you my own personal life as a case in point. i minister in churches by invitation and have experienced the gifts of word of knowledge and prophecy a lot. knowing details about people i have never met and experiences they have had and will have. Declaring future events regarding them and having them happen exactly as declared. personally i knew before hand when my wife would get pregnant and the gender of the unborn baby right from conception and also for over 30 other ladies i have been opportuned to pray with. I have even had knowledge of abortions carried out by ladies i never met before and they confirmed it even up to one carried out just the day before our encounter. So many to mention. These are not issues bordering on names or addresses but on real life's issues and occurrences. Its not done via equipments but via dependence on the Holy Spirit of God. Its not everything you think you have an explanation for. Iam using my very self as this example. |

4everGod:Point of correction!! I don't think I have an explanation to everything. I don't claim to. Most things, I have no clue how they happen, but I am skeptical and keep an open mind to possibilities. I don't ascribe everything to God or the supernatural when they're unexplained just because someone says its so. |

thelish:I've made my point. I can't make any assertion on your story because I can't verify what you're saying. |

Rankine:That only happens in uncivilized countries cuz in developed countries, people ain't possessed with primitive problems. It all depends on how you train your mind to give regular predictions which is religiously known as prophecy. This are men that have religiously sharpened their natural instincts with an organized way of making discretion. They meditate on people's personality, temperament, predicament and intimidate them by fixing in a particular problem in their lives, knowing that an average Nigerian grew up with the problem mentality. Prophecy is all about using mystical knowledge to forecast and estimate future events and not necessarily backup with any spiritual body. But I think that religion is another way of studying and observing nature as well as been inspired with some hidden primitive problems of human being without necessarily providing solutions to those problems discovered. |

HCpaul:I know you think you made a whole lot of sense with what you wrote but sadly...you did not as all you said is wrong.. You spoke from a place of zero knowledge which is why you almost sounded childish with your comment. Is there a school of Prophecy? With what parameters or equipment do they train their minds to make declarations into the future regarding private and personal things that eventually do happen to the letter? One of such people who is a Pastor told me that I would get married to a lightskinned lady and she would come from outside Lagos and even told me the name of this lady.....but he mentioned her native name but he said that when I meet her I would know. 4 yrs later the woman who became My wife came from Portharcourt for a winners program and her prayer point was that God should direct her husband to her and that she was ready. The first day I met her...I did not even see her but heard her voice and I was hooked and practically moved mountains to get the owner of that voice as all she did was greet me and my friends and walk past and I was busy with something on my lap so never looked up when responding. I met her and proposed to her 3 months later and only knew her native name on the day of traditional marriage as she has never used or mentioned that name and I never bothered to ask. But her father is the one who loves calling her by her native name and when he mentioned her name alas it was the same name the Pastor declared to me 4 yrs before. Not everything has a viable and accurate explanation. I have experienced same thing this Pastor experienced so I know what I am talking about. |

4everGod:Don't mind these atheist. They always look for junk stories and excuses to justify their claim. One thing about prophecy from God is that, it's is divine. God works in mysterious ways.. Few months back, a guest minister, an evangelist was invited to my church for a program. While preaching, he began to receive revelations and he called out a man ..he was preaching when he paused and said ''Jesus, who's James winner''.. The guy came out and he asked us to pray for the spirit of death not to take him.. we prayed, and he began to preach and preach , he was receiving revelations that evening. Just after 2weeks later, James winner was involved in an accident, his mom died but he survived without a scratch even when many people died.. |

4everGod:Your type of problem is part of the primitive problem that I am talking about. If another prophet sees you after marrying your wife, he will tell you to pray against barrenness. It's not that the prophecy really works but you are just the one struggling to create an avenue to validate it. If a prophet says that someone among your friend will request a cloth from you, you will always deviate and derail your conversations with your friends until you successfully and indirectly persuade someone among them to accentuate on cloth issues while thinking in your heart that the prophecy has been fulfilled. Their is always a way you can train your mind to see people's problems. This is what those folks are good at and that is why they are called professionals in the mythical field. Though its not that prophecy is 100% real but just a regular prediction and the religious use of probabilistic approach to estimate futurist events. |
