Most of the sadists commenting on this thread are lazy importers who no longer have access to forex as a result of GEJ maladministration, who are not interested in local production, and who are still pained that GEJ lost out in the last general election. I was actually expecting good suggestions from contributors on these thread only for some people to come here and start vomiting venoms. What the government is doing is not unusual. Every organization facing difficult times does that. |

Hiploko: You think everybody is like you. You may have been collecting money from GEJ when he was president. That does not give you the right to accuse others of doing the same thing. If your conscience is troubling you, deal with it. |

Tinubu is more clever than Buhari. He knew from the onset that the 'Change' agenda of APC is a scam, a mere propaganda so quietly appointed the commissioner as Vp and went back to Ikoyi continue his looting jeje and godfather politics. Today the greedy maalam bubu is having sleepless night and day |

ceeethru: I don't like Buhari at all. I do not hate him either. What I am saying is if everyone is whining and complaining like most of you are doing here on naira land, this nation will never recover from this economic recession. I know a lot of people who instead of grumbling are actively involved in contributing their own quota at helping the nation by establishing their own businesses. They are doing it quietly without government involvement. Lack of forex to import with the accompanying increase in the cost of those goods is encouraging local investors like me and others to enter into the production of those goods. Those who are investing their precious time and money into local production of hitherto imported goods knows that the current economic recession is helping to reset and reshape the economy for the better in the future. Imagine how many jobs will be created in the long run. Only those who don't have anything tangible to contribute to the development of the economy waste their precious time lamenting on naira land while serious minded people are laughing to the banks. |

davidif: It could all be so simple but Nigerians are addicted to failure. End national cake, return land and mineral right to individuals, economic Freedom, enforce property rights, get government out of running business, let free market handles issues. Then wait a few years watch us transform like Asian tigers economis did. |

I'm glad for your enthusiasm. It's good to stay positive at times like this. But. Are you aware that the cost of production still makes imports cheaper than homemade items? Are you aware that in a recession even if your products are the only ones in the market, you will be producing for an ever dwindling number of customers each day, each week, each month- due to more job losses and a worsening economy? Are you aware that the primary reason why the status quo will continue is because northern interests- and a serious case of fright- will make them prevent any attempts at real change? Are you aware that oil was the primary, but unspoken reason for the civil war? If buhari is sincere in his efforts then I pity him because he's been set up to fail. The only way for this nation to succeed is for the arewa youths to be convinced that it's in their interests. Because they're the only ones who can get the northern oligarchs on board- or go against them. rlauncher: |
