Really? Didn't know that. Rofemiguwa, you can use disposable at night and cloth during the day, I do that but my friend cloth diapers at night too. Amhappy, I donr know the PH hospital but one mum mentioned it. It will most likely be a govt hospital so start from there. We took Rotavirus and didn't have stooling during teething but I don't know if there is a correlation. Rotavirus should be free because we are not getting clean, govt treated water.
I don't know of other places sha, but that's what is happening now In my area. The certificate is given at 15 months immunization.

stop using soap and cream on the face, just wash with water, it will disappear before u know it. Also pls avoid powder on that face, don't allow baby inhale powder dust, it dangerous for their health.

So mothers, recently I decided to try Pampers diapers and I had a horrendous experience. I checked online and I saw I was not the only one having the same issues. It is a very common issue. But no-one was doing anything about it and when I complained, it was Pampers International that was replying, Pampers Nigeria couldn't be bothered but made sure Instagram was flooded with pics of Tiwa Savage and her son (even when someone tweeted the issue at her, no response).

I spoke to a friend and she told me that we should band and do something. She always says that there are laws in Nigeria but nobody bothers to make anyone accountable so everyone breaks it.

Why should we be giving a company our money when they are producing poor substandard goods? Why are we paying for vaccines that affect us more (in the U.S. they pump treated water and give Rotavirus free, in Nigeria we don't get treated water and pay for Rotavirus. All vaccines are from government sold to private). We accept so much nonsense and just manage and adjust ourselves. And suffer for it and yet be complaining.

There's something known as a Class Action suit. A group of people can sue a company to change their regulations or products. In Nigeria, it has happened (I believe MyPikin Teething Powder was a case because babies died) and I know Golden Morn (Nestle) came specifically to Nairaland to announce that Golden Morn wasn't infant cereal (avoiding a lawsuit). People have sued in this Nigeria and won. People have changed things in Nigeria and they were ordinary people. People like us.

I believe if we start talking, here to every mother, we can get Rotavirus given freely. And let us vote with our money: I will never endorse Pampers even if I am given a carton free because it is a shoddy product and it inspired me to start looking for good options in cloth diapers available. I believe we can make enough of a fuss online and get foreign mothers involved in making Cerelac (Nestle) change their formulation for West Africa to reduce the amount of sugar in it according to all their other standards. Someone went to Ghana and said the nonsense we accept in Nigeria that other West African countries and even East Africa does not accept, but Nigerians accept and accomodate, is baffling.

So, yeah. Let's think big.

#EndRant

I'm in, especially for the rotavirus. Our labour law also needs to make maternity leave 6 months, in line with WHO recommendations for 6 months maternity leave.

Your milk let down is very powerful so it comes out too fast. Either this or she rushes the milk. Don't let her cry so much before you offer her breast. It will finally stop ok.

Maybe your milk flows very fast. Actually the struggling prompts more milk let down.
To slow down milk flow lie down and let her eat while facing downwards. That way she has to suck to eat rather than milk pouring into her mouth.

thanks so much for you responses. I really appreciate. @tojue*d, I will try your suggestion.

That is precisely what happened to me and what every mother who was complaining about. The S&P inside spilled and started touching Baby E's skin. It irritated her and she scratched till she bled. It was at night so we didn't notice until she couldn't sleep and we checked. I even have pictures. Other mothers complained yet Pampers Nigeria cannot be bothered to check their Quality control so that every diaper leaving their Turkish factory for Nigeria is sound? They cannot even be bothered to provide a Customer Care Number? They are spending millions on endorsement deals without caring of their product is defective?

Have you guys even seen the difference in construction between Huggies US diapers and Huggies Nigeria diapers? I have and I have laughed in derision. Half your leakage issues stems from poorer materials and substandard design. We can do a side by side picture comparison. But they are collecting your money.

Why are we paying for Rotavirus, the government gets the vaccines subsidised and sells it to private hospital a, who charge a premium for it. Every Nigerian parent will testify that their baby under the age of 1 year is most susceptible to Diahreaa yet you have to pay expensively for vaccines that will help protect your child.

It's not about supporting me. We are all in this together. A thought came to me and it may be upsetting to hear this but please do:
This is not my fight. This is not about my child. God has enabled us to be able to afford to give our child options. But what about everyone else? Are you able to give your child options? Is your neighbour, is your co-worker, your family, can they give their child options? So if you read this, and just pass or you read, type and forget, you're part of the problem. Because the issue affects you more and you're unwilling to help. You're waiting for God and strangers to come down and do your job for you.

Lagos mums, next time you go for Immunisation at Health centres, start talking to other mothers. Whom are your LG chairmans? Someone must know who is Commissioner of Health is. If you have to make it trend on Twitter, start a hashtag and let everyone push it. Ambrose actually does have his media people monitor Twitter. Get this on in the frontpage of Nairaland, Genevieve or whatever Nollywood actor or Snake can wait. Someone open a thread on this. Take your time, do your research, start it. You can effect that change. Let us start with Rotavirus vaccine.

Lagos state offers Maternity leave. LASG even provides creche in some of its parastatals. NLC doesn't know its job. Their own is to use your head and start strike action for 3 days and collect money at the end of the strike. Mothers in offices can actually approach their HR about creche close by or in the building if there is space. It relates to work productivity. You don't have to run from your offices early to pick up a child. Stop being worried about your jobs, they will fire you so easily for silly reasons in this Nigeria that you may as well make it count. If you are an asset to your company, they will keep you happy. I'm speaking from experience. Don't expect immediate change and think things through carefully and have a plan. United, we win.

Serious sense oh,imagine my first baby that is trying to suck,I av used mitten(I don't know how he removes it entirely or get his thumb out), I av tried bitter leaf( that one is like toppings on icecream ), I av tried aloevera(he won't just give up).so what I do now is spank his hand when I catch him sucking, but he still won't give up,when he want to suck he pulls a pillow close enuf to cover his hand and mouth. But the fight is not yet over,I will never allow him suck, when his mate will be listening in class he will be in another world sucking angryMBANU,NEVER we will fight to the finish.
Sorry for the rant, good morning mamas,TGIF even if I av no business TGIFing
my kids suck their thumb, I have tried and tried to stop them but nothing so I just left them, one morning before we starting praying the 4year old just said "I must stop sucking my thumb today" and we said we will help you thru it. I think they will stop on Their own. However suckers are accurate thinker too, so we need them to better our world cheesy

My baby had it a few months ago. Just realised it was as if her hair was shaved on one side but we had been in contact with another baby that had it. Got advice here and it worked. Pls see if you can use the search button for details...

We bathed her with agbo for like 2 weeks or more, used baby tribotan on the affected site for about 5 days then continued with shea butter and coconut oil. Thankfully it stopped spreading and the hair is finally growing back. I was teased about attacking it with both orthodox and traditional medicine, not sure if it's necessarily that combination that worked. But the agbo seemed to do the trick

Thanks mama. Bt i dont really know how agbo looks like, i've just been hearing abt it. Am an igbo

Onegai thanks for the response. Rivers is giving pcv free but not rota just found out during my dd 10weeks immunization today. What you said about our govt is so true. They take advantage of us,individuals follow suit because they know nothing will happen. Poor legal system is the biggest undoing of this country. People do not take responsibilities or face the consequences of their action. How do we get the govt to do something about making rota free? Also is it late to start giving Rota @ 10weeks?

No it's not, even though thats when they should take their second round of the rota(first round 6weeks) it's still withing the age frame as they will complete it before the 6th month mark.

Lilylurv I tried replying you on the Preggy thread but all the epistle I typed just wiped off na hin I vex come here! Glad you repeated the question so I'll just be brief and leave the lecture part.

Pap is too complex to start at age 3months even more complicated is the crayfish.

Wait till he is at least 6months old even then he will still need the formula but it won't run out like it's doing now.

In the mean time you may opt for a more pocket friendly formula.

Some tips to get rid of postpartum belly fat and get your flat tummy back...

PART 1
When you have a baby, it is completely normal that you put on some weight in your body or in your belly, so don’t feel bad when your body is simply following a natural process.

However, the earlier you start working on your postpartum body and belly, the easier it would be. This doesn’t mean that it is impossible to address as time goes on, but it is generally better to start early because the effort it would take to address it would be somewhat lesser.

Please note that all the information and tips and products are valid for CS deliveries and vaginal deliveries. However, with CS, you just need to be sure your stitches are healed and that there is little or no pain anymore.

If you are a woman who needs her belly warmed up and softened, don’t overlook the hot water compress; it works. Or you could use a hot water bag. (Please don’t get burned using very hot water. Use water that is more hot than warm but not too hot).

After you compress for about 20-30 minutes with a damp cloth (make sure you touch everywhere you are not comfortable with), then you can wrap up in your Abdominal Binder or postpartum belt for the next few hours in the day or overnight. You would probably need three rounds of hot water so that as one starts to cool off, you replace it. You would definitely see results whether it has only been a few weeks since your baby or even up to 5 years after your last baby.

Another way to get rid of postpartum belly fat is the traditional way we back our children. This is the secret of the village woman. She has no abdominal binder or postpartum belt. She doesn’t even know what these are. But she backs her baby every time to do her chores. That baby would be tied to her back for the next few months or so. But you see, her tying her baby on the back and tightly tying the front part of her belly to make sure the baby is firm enough is another compression opportunity we overlook.

But if you are a career woman or a business woman, get a post-partum belt or binder, but also try to tie your baby in the back if you can. It helps compress your tummy and also helps you and baby bond too. And when tying, try to tie correctly. After the top wrapper around your breast, also have another one that focuses on your belly too…in all, you would need at least two pieces of clothes.

To be continued...
