Truth according to a friend:

Nigeria Economy was never strong. It was only revolving around corruption.

A man steals Millions of Naira. Uses part of it to build a house. He will buy bags of cements, building rods and other materials. Pay workers who work on the site. Give Millions to his girlfriend, who will go and buy Brazilian hair, buy expensive jewelleries and shoes. Spent Millions on a five star hotel to organize a birthday party and buy assorted drinks.

They were getting Billions of Naira from the scam called fuel subsidy. They will go and keep the money in the Banks, and the Banks were looking for fat deposits.
From the loots, fat offerings and tithes were paid. Millions were even paid to Religious leaders for prayers. The Economy was booming around corruption.

Then, a new Sheriff came to town with integrity. He says, it is not going to be business as usual.
TSA was introduced.
The war against corruption declared.
Most sources of ill gotten wealth cut off.
No more free cash for the boys.

And because we are a consuming Nation from ill gotten wealth, the so called strong Economy suddenly collapsed.
Some even suggested that corruption should be brought back.

We must now start to build a productive Economy based on genuine source of wealth.

This is the sorry state of Nigeria Economy today.

Okupe has a point but he must understand that heaven help those who help themselves

You don't expect any of the aforementioned to force themselves on the president. Hell, they're doing very well and are not desperate for a job in this administration

They've even been making suggestions in their own capacity but has the old man listened or taken any of their advice? NO

But I think its an insult that these few names are always called upon as if there are no other qualified Nigerians or are they magicians?

To be frank, most of them already had their chance at the helm of affairs and where did it lead us?
And the new ones that has been given chances are leading us into the abyss.

very myopic and senseless post. Is your friend educated?

where will you put the contraction of FDIs in your analysis? How about policy somersaults by Govt.? How about militancy in the Niger-Delta and how it has affected oil production? where will you place that in your dumb analogy? how about honest business men and women who conduct their businesses in clean and genuine ways? where will you place the REMITA scam, the illegal recruitments in the CBN,FIRS & NDIC? how about budget padding? so according to you, corruption in Nigeria stopped on May 29, 2015?! You both need to get your craniums checked because I sense this isn't about illiteracy alone. There's some element of insanity involved.

De-marketing your fellow citizens and your country because you want to heard by all means.

dunce!

Okupe is a dump to think that we need Okonjiweala nick named Okonji-Wahala. Who from the records from National bureau of statistics started the recessions in 2014 under PDP, even borrowing then to pay salaries of federal civil servant. The same pdp now sponsoring Niger Delta militants to blow our oil facilities hence compounding the recession.

No my friend, performance is not a function of resources alone. How much resources did we have when NOI came the first time under OBJ? The success of any business is not only dependent on the amount of cash on ground but more on the inventiveness of the businessman. Okupe's call is a clarion call which all Nigerians must hearken to. The situation the nation finds itself must be seen as a national disaster that must be collectively solved. This is not the time for rabid opposition politics but a time for nationalistic acts. The President must galvanize the whole nation behind him with the right policies and actions. There is no great nation that hasn't been through what we are going through. What makes their experience different from ours is the collective resolution of the crises.
Good thinking good product

There are two kinds of people in this world, those that cause problems and those that solve problems. All I know is that Okonji Iweala was one of the persons that aided the proliferation of nigerias problems by approving monies to politicians which she blamed on lack of will power by GEJ instead of resigning when things we going out of order. Those that have the passion and willing to solve problems do so even when they are not paid or consulted. I don't see her as a solution period.

This kind of healing words can only be heard from pdp members, as for Apc is 97/5% , don't forget how we made your parents to suffer during biafra war, we will crush NDA, bla bla bla, and the nation keeps dividing every day. Until our president learn how to be a father of the nation ,before then, ressesion, hatred, attacks and killings will never give way for peace. I pray that God remove a stone Hart from buhari and give him a Hart of a democrat.

Dr Kalu Idika Kalu , Charles Chukwuma Soludo, Rewani, Tunde Lemo, Patrick Utomi, Shamsuddeen Usman, Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II, this is a list of intellectual crooks. Iweala is even the biggest of all the crooks, a wolf in sheep's clothing. Can all these crooks make crude oil sell at $100 per barrel. Can all these crooks increase our crude oil sales to 2miillion barrels per day. Can all these crooks reduce Nigerians heavy consumption of imported goods immediately, can all these crooks diversify our economy overnight, what they never did while the reigned. Can all this crooks improve our structural infrastructures overnight so that businesses can begin to thrive immediately? The answer is no. We do not need all these over hyped economic mafiosos. Kemi Adeosun did well in Ogun state as the finance commissioner. She was a key part of Amosu's giant strides in Ogun state. I believe in her. Slow and steady, we will get there. The promise land.

Doyin okupe should shout #bringbackcorruption instead.

What a crap from one that took part in looting the country.

Shame on him for suggesting a woman who despite her deep knowledge on economic matters could not caution the last government against looting and other financial misdeeds,

what makes her super other than giving the nation economic growth on paper without its manifestations in the life of Nigerians.

She should be held accountable for not being courageous enough to speak out or pull out like the former CBN governor.

She couldn't bring her expertise to bear when the country had huge earnings from oil, so what magic is she coming to do with the dwindling revenue from oil.

If the present finance minister can operate with tax revenues and few from oil returns and coupled with other strategies with future prospects then why call on a woman who had much from oil and couldn't plan for the country.

Wonder what iweala can do better other than approve money to dasuki, Metuh and pdp , she is a scam.

u don't see efcc ever coming around inviting her -she's an economic genius. most countries dependent on commodities like oil alone usually experience recessions regularly if not yearly. The govt now supplants it by infusion of cash mostly from oil sales into the economy or by reducing taxes, reducing executive expenditure or increasing labour wages. That's what the past administration had done. This present administration in an economic faux pas, withheld funds meant for capital expenditure, increased and instituted new taxes and caused scarcity in some commodities. If you are erudite in the economics of naija, you would see that states like Lagos are releasing more funds for expenditure to counter the effects of the recession.Gej is only responsible for this recession if,he's responsible for the pipeline bombings otherwise, buharis administration is to blame.

24 months?

We are looking at 5-10 years. You think it's easy to bring back foriegn investors from where they have settled in Ghana, Kenya, Ethiopia, Ivory Coast and the rest?

What assurances do they have that in another 4 years time, Nigerians won't be filled with hate and tribalism of the South East/ South South and undo what has been done?

5-10 years, Bro. And that's if Nigeria has a good leader.
1-Who are the foreign investors?
2-What where they investing in? (if not kalo kalo business)
3-And if indeed they were real investors and can zap in few months, then they can return in few months.
4-finally, who dem epp?
