Judge Tsoho Withdraws From Nnamdi Kanu’s Trial by dre11(m): 12:30pm On Sep 26, 2016
John Tsoho, the judge handling Nnamdi Kanu’s trial, has returned the case file to Ibrahim Auta, chief justice of federal high court, for reassignment.

This was sequel to an application by the legal team of Kanu led by Chuks Muoma, claiming that the court was biased in its handling of the matter.

“We are only asking the court to hands off; my client has lost confidence in this court,” he said.
He claimed that the court was acting in line with the suggestion of President Muhammadu Buhari that Kanu was not going to be released under any circumstance.

The counsel said that if they did not get the relief they sought, they would proceed to the International Court of Justice.

Muoma said any proceedings in the case, following the claim that a petition was written to the National Judicial Council (NJC) to protest against the court, would “stifle it”.

“I understand that there is a letter to NJC, though I haven’t seen it and the CJ has replied saying that the matter will be investigated,” he said.
“I would urge you that you transfer the matter; I would suggest that it be sent back to the CJ.”

Responding, the judge said: “I have no interest in trying your matter and I will return it to the CJ, but I will condemn the attitude of that counsel. I do not care if you take your case to another planet.”

He said that making a ruling on the said application was an attempt to “pre-empt” the outcome of the petition sent by Kanu’s lawyers to the CJ.

However, in a ruling, the judge who prevented the prosecuting counsel from speaking, said: “This case is hereby transferred to the CJ.”

Interesting.

I see some writers below me celebrating this,as a Judicial Victory for the Renegade called Kanu, how is it a Victory if I may ask?

Kanu is still locked up,and from all indications there is no clear path to him getting out of Jail, and yet some funny people are celebrating.

Let Kanu's legal team, take the matter to the International Court to make a mockery of themselves.

What part of Kanu actively soliciting for Arms and Soldiers openly to overthrow a democratically elected Government do the supporters of Kanu don't get?

Kanu has committed a treasonable felony, and that is why even the British Government will not touch him with a long stick(he is British by the way)

I see Kanu staying a very long time in Prison.

The pressure and heat has become too much for John Tsoho. Let Buhari continue rigamaroling around this case. The end justifies the means. Freedom is near

For this alone, our brothers should declare a six-month boycott/sit-at-home protest and let's see if the Nigerian economy would be grounded.

They should remember Lagos alone would be available to dash each of them 20 pounds each by the time they start eating themselves. Baba Awo taught us to be nice to our neighbors.

It's time to institute fundamental human rights enforcement proceedings to secure the release of Nnamdi Kanu because it's obvious the FG has nothing and no case to be sustained against him. If they are not prepared to get serious and grant accelerated hearing of this case before a competent and unbiased judge, then d case should be struck out.

Why should a person be before different judges and still identify strong issues of bias or have judges hands off due to external pressure? Must some dirty, wicked, ulterior motive be achieved against NK? What sort of stupid government is too afraid to allow an untainted judicial process just to nail a perceived enemy?

Why are his lawyers not allowing the case to proceed speedily so that he can be set free if he's innocent? They're only compounding his woes of staying in jail for a longer time when the trial has not even started. Do they think even if a South easterner is brought to hear the case he'll simply close his eyes and tell him he's innocent and have him discharged? That won't happen.

I'm not saying he would be convicted by all means, but I don't see him getting free. If Buhari could rebuff all entreaties to intervene in the case of the nation's Number Three citizen, what chance does Kanu stand?
